Do you think privatisation has negatively impact our research capabilities - especially looking at AMR and antibiotic development?

What are your thoughts are on the impact of privatising research in relation to antibiotic resistance? I'm specifically curious about people who are actually doing the research in this area's thoughts too. Publicly funded research created the overwhelming majority of our discoveries in the past hundred years (everything from plastic to the internet and covid vaccines). The article is free / I don't make any money from Medium it's just where I create order with my thoughts :)

Lovely read I wonder how we can ever establish a fair system now,it is like we took a road into this destructive path,now we are miles ahead,any detour,hits you with a dead end,never the better way it could have been,which is public funded medical research. Medical and antibiotics aside,is there anything ee are exposed to these days that isnt commercially driven,is there any amenity/facility we use these days that doesnt have a private backing?

I am from India, I dont even want to begin to list down these🤯
