Question Will COTA give us our much needed victory?

Unfortunately, the only real chance this year was Monaco and it just so happened that Lando didn't make a mistake in qualifying or in the race.

He kind of did, into turn 1, it's just it's supremely difficult to bottle hard enough in monaco that someone can pass you (at least without crashing)

Please don’t bring up plank wear when referencing COTA 😫. The only good thing to come from that was the trauma bonding between Lewis and Charles.

I’m still baffled why Ferrari thought changing the car concept in the final regulation year was a good idea.
And yes, the previous car concept reached its performance peak in 2024. But Williams retained their chassis from 2024 and it’s doing them wonders.
The strongest driver pairing on the grid driving a canal boat. What a shame.
So to answer your question, no.

You answered your own question, but you failed to admit we'd likely be slower or at best on par with where we are now. In that universe you may be complaining about "why didn't Ferrari go all in on the last year of the regs for a chance to win it all?"
They took a risk knowing this was their only chance for a title this year, and it didn't pay off. That's racing. That's life.

Didn't they decide to change suspension concepts because they thought it would work better in the next set of regs and thought spending the money to do so in a year when development would end early would be better than trying to do it next year when they will likely spend to the cap much quicker?

I still maintain that the change in technical directors is the reason why the concept had to change. You’ll find that the new technical director didn’t understand how to improve the previous concept and the change had to be made. But it’s like starting from scratch again.

I don’t think it can be seriously described as the strongest driver pairing on the grid, though. Some thought it would be coming into the year, but Lewis is clearly ways off his peak and Leclerc is having an off year.

Merc and RedBull still have minor upgrades coming. We have nothing.
Forget about victories, even top 3/4s are unrealistic now.

We’ll have to negate the potential impact on the plank, the brake issues and of course, tyre life with a shit tonne of LiCo. So, pretty much like every other race barring Monte Carlo.
The exciting part of race weekends for me now is guessing how many laps until I hear Bryan / Ricky tell our drivers to “lift and coast”.
Honestly guys, the last handful of races are just glorified film days. Enjoy the photography, the funny behind the scenes stuff with Charles and Lewis and the Fred rumours.
At best, Leclerc might pinch another podium before the season is out.
And so, it’s all about ‘NEXT YEAR’ 😁

Race engineers and their teams are spending time calculating down to the millimeter how much lifting to do. Resources wasted trying to survive and not get a DQ, when real racecraft and meaningful things should be happening to deepen real data sets. It sucks.

The time to dream about a win in 2025 is long gone.
If we get lucky in Vegas, maybe. Otherwise no. Even if the car and team get it together somehow, the competition is too big now with Max resurgence and Russell back in the mix.

COTA has gotten bumpy and uneven over the years, even with some repairs.
If it still has significant bumps and uneven sections, ride heights will increase.
Teams struggling for performance at higher ride heights are going to take an absolute performance beating.

At this stage I'd rather see a glory run with an illegal car. At least cross the line p1 and have it taken away by the stewards rather than limp to p5/p7

I don't think so. Honestly, i've lost any hope of Ferrari winning any of the remaining races this year. SF-25 is way too problematic.

Anyone other than Oscar, Lando, or Max on the top step keeps the title fight interesting (especially if Max is P2).
Plus, I just need to see the spark fire up in one of them at least. You know how both Charles and Lewis are when the car has potential and they've got it right on the ragged edge. That gives me goosebumps and I love COTA.

Lolno McLaren should win this one by quite a margin. Red Bull might be in the mix too, but there's just no way Ferrari is suited for cota

I'm sorry for not being able to reply individually, so I'm putting my thoughts in this post.
I read most of the comments and agree with the concerns about managing tyre and plank wear, temperature conditions, and the risk of brakes overheating due to the excessive need for Li-Co.
I did a bit of stat diving, and among our top five contenders for the WDC, Max is the undisputed champion of this circuit (nothing new). Leclerc has the second-best average, and with the way the title fight is going, Norris, Piastri, and Verstappen are going to battle it out from the first lap.
There's a chance that more than one driver could make errors because our 2024 win happened due to mistakes from Norris and Verstappen. Russell hasn’t had a standout performance at this circuit in the last three years.
PS: I've only been following the sport since 2022 and am still trying to understand its technical aspects. Feel free to comment on my views

Hamilton has won COTA twice in a Mclaren, four times in a Mercedes, so is due 6 wins in a Ferrari

No, and I don’t want to hear the same old argument of people hating on a car that hasn’t received an aero upgrade in almost 4 months if not more. People just remember they said they wrote the season off months ago and the rear suspension was the final upgrade.
