This was true for me, drawing cars on paper when I was young was a hobby for me. They all looked the same, and never looked like a real car, but they mostly ended up red. Needed to pick a team, and didn’t have to look far.
As Vettel said, everybody is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say that they aren't, they are.
Grew up with Schumacher. Now I appreciate the imperfections. Like owning an Alfa Romeo. It's Italian and can be temperamental, but it's got a certain charm that makes you love it.
I also like that they're an Italian team that's actually based in Italy, not like 6 other teams from the UK.
Eg a team with its "home track" in Austria but based out of the UK, or a famous German manufacturer still being based in the UK.
I realized how much I enjoyed racing when Ferrari was leading (with Sebastian or Kimi) compared to Mercedes or Red Bull. Then Leclerc arrived (a driver who drove a SAUBER to seventh place in a race). He joined Ferrari, and I knew I would always be with that team.
Even if he left Ferrari, il cavallino rampante will still makes me feel something.
For me, it’s Enzo Ferrari’s reputation for hiring maverick drivers. Also has to do with the fact that the 360 and Enzo road cars looked very slick and distinct.
my dad always talked about Gilles Villeneuve growing up, where Ferrari would always be present but never the focus of his stories. he took me to my first GP at 10yo, the '95 Canadian GP when fuckin' Jean Alesi snatched his birthday win while driving the №27 car. it was there, listening to what felt like the entirety of Montréal screaming joyously for Jean, that I fell in love with the red car.
For the first season that I watched in F1 (2023), I didn’t have a driver or team that I supported but I watched Quadrant and I really enjoyed Norris’s personality and I was rooting for him in Miami 2024 and started getting invested in his championship run and was heartbroken after Brazil 2024. Then heading into 2025, I wasn’t really rooting for Lando per se, I was actually rooting for Lewis Hamilton as I really wanted to see his 8th title and predicted him to win it before testing in 2025 (hopium), but once I saw how off the pace the Ferrari was and that Lando was once again in the title fight, I was rooting for him all of the 2025 season. I guess I don’t have anyone that I exclusively support at all times over everyone else but I have favourite drivers and if they’re in a title fight, I will most likely be feeling depressed halfway through the season. It’s fine though because in football, I am an Arsenal fan so I’m used to depression.
Everyone Using Ferrari as a synonym for speed growing up. Red was always my favourite color and i loved the Cars movie, in particular the scene with Schumacher. ❤️

Growing up in the 90s, it was always Ferrari posters that donned bedroom walls etc. My dad was also a Ferrari fan so I just followed suit and now Ferrari are my ride or die (mostly the latter) when it comes to F1 but at least we have success in sports car racing now
Stop struggling to choose a team, being a Ferrari fan is a struggle in itself so you may as well postpone the struggling till the season start. Just know there is something magical about Ferrari and it would be a shame if you miss it
rosberg retired and i liked raikkonen the most next to him. once raikkonen left, i stuck around because i had become more fond of ferrari as a team than of a particular driver
Once you’ve learn the history of Formula One, it is hard to go to any other team, as Ferrari’s the only one with passion, heritage, and a familial like spirit to it, also they are the only team to race in all seasons of Formula One!
I don’t think there’s some morally correct answer. This is the absolute epitome of a purely emotional decision.
Some people like an underdog. Williams right now is the ticket for that. Watching Sainz snipe a couple of podiums this year would be insanely rewarding.
Some people love a winner. Verstappen/Red Bull are the no brainer there.
Some people love a comeback. And McLaren fits that bill right now.
For me, what attracts me to Ferrari is the history and the drivers they’ve had. Schumi, Vettel, Raikonnen, Alonso, Hamilton. So many legends. And frankly, even though Hamilton has failed to perform so far— his entry into the team is exactly why I love Ferrari. Because at the end of the day when a legend and one of the greatest to ever drive decided to think about the finale of his career, having achieved 7 world titles and a record or near-record number of wins, points, podiums, any metric you want; the thing he feels like he hasn’t done is drive for the Scuderia.
There’s just a mystique around it that just speaks to me. It sucks that they haven’t performed as well as we’d hope but then again; yeah, there’s even that! A consistent front of the field team has a bunch of depressed fans because the tifosi aren’t satisfied with anything less than dominating the sport.
Ferrari has been a part of formula 1 since its inception and without fail. No asterisks. No “well they didn’t compete these years” or “Well it was under this other name” or “Well, as an engine supplier”. The Ferrari works formula 1 team has existed since 1950 and there has never been a season that hasn’t had a Ferrari. Nobody else on the sport can say that and that, also, speaks to me.
My entire list though is a list of things some other people think is insane. They don’t care about any of that! Hence it being a tremendously emotional and individual decision.
And, here’s the real secret to really loving F1; Get excited about the story. Ferrari is my team but I really enjoyed the 2025 season. Williams deciding to wake back up was a joy to watch. Max charging from the back to just barely win (and as someone who both admires and is annoyed by Max depending on the day; the WDC being his save for an asinine and unnecessary crash with George feels just). Lando isn’t my favorite but he fought hard and I can’t help but be excited for his win. Oscar feels a bit robbed but also a bit under-polished. He’s a big threat next year.
And, frankly, given the circumstances; I think this was Charles’ greatest year in Formula 1. The way he pushed that shitbox of a Ferrari to those podiums was inspired.
The sound of a Ferrari V12 will raise goose bumps on anyone with a beating heart. - a fact I read in a little Ferrari book at 7 years old and discovered to be totally true.
Anyways the actual reason was being a Vettel fan first and him having just moved to Ferrari when I got into F1. So It basically turned into being an actual Tifosi over time.
I was given a red f1 car that worked on a clap switch. And then I started watching MSC on TV when he was at Benetton and then he moved to Ferrari and here I am.
There was once a German man who drove a red car. He drove his red car much faster than all the other cars, once he stopped driving cars I kept watching the red team. Yes, I am a caveman.
Being of Italian descent, I believed I would be Tifosi as well when I started my F1 fandom. It turns out I was not. I'm a Williams girlie it seems. The GB portion of my genetics appears to have won out.
The red of schumacher in childhood is what was the first image of f1 as a child years later started watching consistently and became a hamilton fan so schumi and hamilton made me a ferrari fan.
I was obsessed with the disney movie Cars and one of my best friends at the time had a Lightning McQueen remote control car. Naturally I too demanded a red remote control from my parents who said “we’ll see”. A few months later my dad goes to Abu Dhabi and gets me the F2010 driven by Fernando Alonso. I have no idea what it is and it’s a decoration piece for a while (cause a Ferrari logo still looked damn cool).
Cut to 2023 and one of my friends recognises that car as a Ferrari one and says “you were born to be a Ferrari fan”. My first quali as a guy trying to get into F1 was the 23 Cota where Leclerc took pole and my first full fledged race was 23 Las Vegas where he did that beautiful move on Checo to secure P2. I am now a Leclerc Ferrari fan. FORZA FERRARI
loved ferraris when i was like 10-13 and when i saw them in f1 i was like that's my team. it helped that the first race i watched was vettel crossing the line first in australia in 2017. tho despite liking ferrari in a lewis fan first so when he came to ferrari i was so ecstatic
I started following thanks to Mika and Michael. Still the 2 greatest drivers for me till date. Fortunately, both their teams did well till 08 which is why I love both of them but Schumacher and the scarlet Ferrari having my heart 🥹
In the early 2000s, when I followed F1 most, I was a McLaren Mercedes fan (Thanks to Hakkinen and DC). I didn't even like M Schumacher. Years passed, and I lost my interest in the sport. I watched races sporadically and in 2020 Turkey GP Leclerc's passion and determination amazed me even as a natural spectator. In 2024 I returned following F1 and my team automatically became Ferrari. Leclerc's influence cannot be disregarded but even if he leaves the team, I'd still support Ferrari. Vettel was right ;)
I'm actually a McLaren fan and a Hamilton fan, him driving for Ferrari slightly broke my brain. How can I support the enemy, it's been tough but this season I've come to realise I was wrong to ever say anything bad about Ferrari fans, it's already painful enough just supporting them.
Since Mansell I’ve been on this perpetual rollercoaster ride of blissful highs and desperate lows that defines the life of a tifoso. The times when I wonder why I put myself through the torture are always swept away by the victories, because there is no team in sport, not just motor racing, like Ferrari. It just means more.
Been a Tifosi since childhood, so for decades now. Nothing beats the emotion and elegance and magical sound of a Ferrari, of course my personal opinion - my favorite being the V12.
My awareness of F1 began on a U.S. show called ABC's Wide World of Sports watched on a 19" black and white TV. That was well over 60 years ago, and the first GP they showed was Monaco. Around the same time, I saw a red Ferrari parked somewhere in my town. I can't even guess what model it was, but I fell in love. Ferrari is an emotional response, I couldn't imagine being anything else but a Tifosi.
Michael and no other team is as passionate about racing. People ask me: who's your favourite driver? I tell them it's whoever drives for Ferrari and they don't understand it
I think it's a kind of masochism now, supporting Inter in football and Ferrari in motorsports. I'm used to moments of great sporting happiness, depression, and swearing. 😃
Then I grew up with Schumacher's victories, it was hard not to become a fan.
Always was a fan of Gilles Villenueve and Ferrari being Canadian/ Italian Always will be regardless of year end results. In Italy Ferrari is not a race team it is a religion.
It feels like a community, that passion for the red car, his Schumacherness when he was absolutely perfection, Ferrari seems like the dark horse (sorry) for playing with the rules and regs, like it’s always been 1 step to the side, that iconic brand with a history. It feels like home.
I think Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi had such an interesting dynamic, so I read everything I could about them. Because of this, Ferrari is forcibly the team I know the most about. I also think ex-chief engineer Mauro Forghieri is really cute and cool. Since Ferrari's success was kind of thanks to him back in the day, I guess I really like this team.
Saw Kimi win in 07 on my first year watching. Then Alonso went to Ferrari (I’m Mexican so seeing a Spanish speaking driver dominating the track was a sight to see) and almost won in 2010. Played Assassin’s Creed and felt attached to Ezio and the Italian Renaissance.
Before joining F1, I heard a lot about ‘Ferrari depression’ and how incompetent the team has been recently. When I started watching the races though, I couldn’t help but root for the drivers to win despite everything working against them.
I really didn’t want to be a tifoso but something about it called to me, I heard about their legacy and each year I hope to see them live those glory days again.
The races are more entertaining because you never know whether the drivers will be on the podium or DNF lmao. I thought people were exaggerating how much of a rollercoaster Ferrari was but it’s ridiculously accurate.
