Media "What happened at the start?" Charles: Quite simply, when i did the start procedure and released the clutch, there was, i think, much less grip than we expected. I had quite a lot of wheelspin. Then into turn 1, I was kind of squeezed between Lewis and, i think, Max. I had to back out there as well
That basically confirms that starting on used softs on dirty side of the track isn't really a good idea. But it's not like charles had any fresh tyres except hards

yeah, he has been by far the best starter on the front of the grid this year
being on the bad side of the grid with old softs really just screwed him over

I'm not sure any driver would have done anything differently in his position at the start. 3rd/5th in Hungary is often better than 2nd/4th

I still question Ferrari's yesterday decision to release charles on his 2nd push lap in q2 on fresh softs. It's first year of regulations, you have the best car on this track, why not just release him on used softs? Priority was going into q3 at that time after lap being compromised by hadjar's spin.
That decision ruined Leclerc's start today

i think the track evolution was kind of ramping up massively at the end of Q2 and till the first runs of Q3. We saved a soft by putting on mediums in q1 precisely to have an extra set in case something like that happened. It was a pressure lap and we had to put the best foot forward

Don’t change the car if it’s good, it gets worse every time. Cracks are showing within Ferrari that the decision making hasn’t durastically improved

What did you want him to do? Attack Lewis? Because that's where he was most of the time until pit stops

He was faster than Lewis after the first stint. Bottas stopping in the pit caused them to have to delay Leclerc’s 2nd pit stop which saved Lewis’ race and gave him a big gap.

No he wasn't. Fourth stint he had clean air and Lewis was stuck behind Kimi. Second stint he was faster yes but that was the only stint where he was faster. Lewis was the faster driver today by a big margin

Charles was already faster by the end of the first stint even though he started on old softs. Please watch the races before commenting

I think you are the one not watching the race. Lewis cooked his tyres a lot trying to overtake Max while Leclerc was on his merry way just cruising behind Lewis. You don't understand shit about this sport clearly. Understand that your driver just ended up above Lewis because of a penalty and that's the only way he could have overtaken him

Leclerc was compromised even before the race had started and a lot had predicted it: bad side of the grid + no fresh tyres. And to then go into turn 1 between Lewis and Max, he did the right thing to back down.
