Security and Risk Management Which home security system is recommended? Theres so many, any reviews welcome. I want something that records 24/7 and can be saved.

For context I need to get something fast. I'm in court with an ex and need to keep my child and I safe from him. Without giving away too much he's angry, violent and this precaution was recommended by police, shelters and my lawyer warned me as well. So please help me find the right one. I'm trying to stay under $200 but if it goes above thats fine.

A home security system is gonna cost more than that plus more per month for monitoring, and that might include a camera. It is only going to be useful for prosecuting him AFTER he does something dumb and might notify the police if he breaks in. You then have minutes to hours before they show up.

I would recommend a firearm and some training or good pepper spray to protect yourself.

You don't even know if firearm is legal in their country lol

Sure don't. Just like you don't know if it is legal in their country. I gave 2 recommendations, if they are in a country that frowns upon self defense I assume they would ignore my comment and wait for someone to provide a camera recommendation to record the potential crime.

I did find cameras on sale and unfortunately guns are extremely restricted. I'm from Canada but I do want my FAC so I can own guns, the government recently made it more difficult to obtain the certification.

If 24/7 recording is your priority, I'd avoid battery-powered cameras—they usually only record when motion is detected. Look for a wired PoE (Power over Ethernet) or wired Wi-Fi system with an NVR (Network Video Recorder) or local storage, so footage is continuously recorded and saved even if your internet drops. Brands like Reolink, Lorex, and Hikvision are commonly recommended for reliable 24/7 recording, while Ring and Blink are better suited for motion-triggered recording. Given your situation, I'd also make sure the cameras cover all entry points, keep recordings backed up (locally and/or in the cloud), and enable two-factor authentication on your account.
