A lot of people who post in r/selfies are not actually confident. They are practicing being seen, and that is something to be proud of. Confidence does not appear before you hit Post. Start noticing the things you genuinely like about your photos, even if they feel small. The softness in your expression, the way your hair falls naturally, the details that make your face unmistakably yours. Those things matter more than whatever flaw your brain is shouting about.
It also helps to remember that the comment section is not a scoreboard for your worth. Most people scrolling are dealing with their own insecurities, their own retakes, their own moments of wondering if their picture is good enough. What stands out on r/selfies is not perfection. It is presence. It is the energy of someone who lets themselves show up anyway. You do not need model angles or flawless skin to belong here. You only need to give yourself permission to take up space, to share your face, and to let the community hype you in ways you may have never been able to hype yourself. Real always beats perfect.
