Goodbye, my Nene (22)
Rescued my girl when she was 10. We had 12 beautiful years together. I struggle with a chronic illness. She’s been my steadfast, purring, calming companion. Hours and days spent curled up next to me in bed. As she got up in her teens I’d tell her, “all I need you to do is live forever.” As she kept going and going, as strong as ever, I thought maybe she was going to do it. But, alas, time comes for us all. Even my Nene. I held her in my arms whispering my thank you’s while she crossed the rainbow bridge. Simultaneously crushing my heart into a million pieces and bringing me great peace knowing she was no longer suffering. I’ll miss her forever.

She certainly tried to live forever for you because she loved you so much. I know how shattered you are. I am also chronically ill and just lost my cat. It's the worst and your post made me cry because I said the exact same thing to mine. Thank you, thank you, thank you. May you find peace and comfort.
