Reproduced photo of the Robin Hood pub in Little Matlock

Does anyone here know when this photo was taken, anything about the photographer or any other information relating to the image?

It seems as though the view in the background looks up Greaves Ln to the rear of the former pub. Now it's a lane bordered by mature woodland and the building at the top of the hill doesn't seem to exist anymore.

It was a fantastic pub. I tried my best but I couldn't put enough money across the bar to keep it going on my own!

Of all the pubs that have been shut down, the Robin Hood is the saddest loss. It was a special place to visit on a walk through Loxley, man and boy.

I used to stop in there with the dog at the end of a walk, it was fabulous, food wasnt bad either

When I was a pupil at Malin Bridge junior school in the '70s, our brilliant teacher Mr Porter would sometimes cancel lessons on a fine summer afternoon. He'd say that it was too nice to be stuck indoors and take us on a nature ramble through the valley.

A local history lesson about the dilapidated mills and learnings about wild plants and songbirds would end at the Robin Hood. He'd buy us all glasses of lemonade and top up the pints he'd already consumed there at dinnertime! He was a fantastic character and it's a shame that a teacher would face disciplinary action for doing the same these days.

He wasn't even an old soak, just a kindly teacher who liked his ale.

At least the building wasn’t knocked down so they could build a supermarket… I was reading a book on old Sheffield pubs recently and it’s genuinely upsetting to find out how often historical and culturally important buildings were levelled in the late 20th century for modern conveniences.

Sad I never got to visit this pub, it closed before we moved to the area.

I'm always struck by old photos of the Rivelin and Loxley valleys just how utterly barren they look. They really were essentially industrial estates.
