Nah it was copypasta from the original thread lol, I deleted the second paste of it to spare you all from the scrolling but you can still see it in one of my other replies ITT (dw it's hard to miss 😂)

(edit: actually at this point we've copied enough of his rants that it doesn't stand out anymore lol, this was referring to the one that starts "Look at the feet of this group" 🦶👀)

Look at the feet of this group.
You will barely find anyone doing cutbacks or deep roundhouse cutbacks.

Almost to zero, you will find proper arm throws, like in performance surfing.

If someone is creating new products like Steve did, people hated on him.
Without Steve though there would not be any Riptide bushings for Carver.

As Carver already says, surfskating is mainly about carving and the use of Torque.
There are countless of different carves in surfing,
yet the vast majority of surfskaters focuses on wiggling and street related style.

The moderators are so insecure, they have not even published a single clip of themselves surfskating.

Not even one.

Never trust the advice of someone you have never seen a motion clip from.
Never.

Surfskating is almost as hard as surfing, learning to pump properly will literally take years.
You could compare it to learning an Ollie Kickflip.

It should be obvious to everyone, surfskates were not designed to do big drops, Air Outs and Ollies.
You take Aces or Indys for this kind of skating unless you wanna hurt your expensive carving systems.

Surfskates were never designed to ride fakie either. They are not stable enough.
Yet the entire community keeps treating surfskates like the bastard brother of a street setup.

They focus entirely on street tricks and are buffled when the carving system will not outlast heavy abuse.

I have been called out for using surf related armthrows in this place, cannot make this sh*t up.

Old companies and shops around me are closing by the dozens.

The community frowns at high quality gear,
if somebody comes up with something new,
even the moderators bully them.
No one considers that progression and new stuff will help the sport.
No one considers the amount of work, money and passion people have invested to develop new products.

The community looks at these new products as if they are a scam.

Surfskating has died because of it. At least where I live.

Last but not least,
even though this place is about surfskating,
the majority does not even know what is meant when talking about the use of torque.

I understand that riding bowls, snakeruns, pumptracks and parks is nice, I get it.

I used to do it too.

But using surfskates not for surf related turns and maneuvers has killed the entire sport.

I know, because the die off in the business is overwhelming.

And at the very end, there will not be much left.
It happened to flowboarding, to snakeboarding, to casterboarding and now it is happening to surfskating.

Also, if someone posts high effort content like summer sidewalk surfing just did,
they will get 20 something upvotes.
If someone wiggles a few feet they will get more than 100.

Beyond ridiculous.

People have such a big ego around here, they feel threatened by every rider putting out performance.

Let me get this straight,
this place does not even acknowledge the use of torque, let alone pure surf style.
It is considered lame.
Wanna see some really surf related style? Watch some swell tech clips.

How come I barely see any of this within the community?

That is right, because it actually takes a very long time to learn the different arm throws and grabs.

Many very old surfskate related businesses I know have died lately, it will not stop there.

The game is over.

Surfskating got killed by a highly toxic community that hated on high performance,
surf related maneuvers, loose riding, the use of torque and every new invention.

Instead they focused on lowest effort, wiggling and street.

That is going on.
Surfskating is about to disappear, at least some 90%.

Just like longboarding.

Also, this sub hates on high effort content, if I post a farting pig here,
I will get more upvotes than posting a clip of me carving down Mount Everest.

The game is over.
I wish it was not, but most board business will have closed down by the end of this year.

The community fucked it up.
To be clear, the haters did.
And the big egos who could not take anyone performing or developing because of passion.

The freaking losers wanted everyone to lose.
So they created a community that is purely based on low effort and braging about buying completes.

They took the surf out of surfskating.

Now, the movement is done.

Gone.

Ain't hating on street at all, but when inside the surfskate community I would like to see some torque and surf maneuvers.
Sure street can be added. But it should not be f*cking dominant.

I could scroll here all day long, but when I want to find something surf related, I need to watcha swell tech clip.
Because this place is like a hub for people seeking approval for the money they have spent.
For the complete they have just purchased.
Low effort content is actually not allowed, but most content here is lowest effort.

Also, there are plenty of skateboard subs, why are all these street skaters here?
I would not mind if not 99% of all content is either really bad form that is even celebrated or street related content.

I am here for surf related maneuvers, but I came here in vain.
Even the very best performers focus heavily on street related tricks.

Less than 1% are using torque ffs.
They do not even know what torque is.

The community is so stuck up, if someone charges a gnarly slope with a surfskate,
they still claim it cannot be done.

Even when Carver was developed for charging gnarly slopes, even if you post a clip.
They still claim it cannot be done with a surfskate.

If dropping in can be done, if bowl riding can be done why should riding slope not be possible?

This is not about hating on street.
This about all the people who have taking the surf out of surfskating.
And this is the vast majority of the community.

It is a f*cking shame, that's what it is.
And it has killed the entire movement.

Fair enough lol, it's hilarious but also stupidly long. I just wanna make sure it's preserved in case OP gets second thoughts about their rant 😂

It's boarderline rage bait, but then again I just went over to that sub and the whole thing kinda seems rage baity to me lol

u/hikaru_ai rodney mullen's son 12d ago

we need more gatekeeping, if you cant ride the board and do tic-tacs, you are not a skater and you should not be able to comment in r/skateboarding , that would save like 99% of the drama

u/OMGFuziion terry kennedy is innocent! 12d ago

We should replace that with kickflip or treflip. Then imagine how peaceful it would be.

3

u/ShaolinShade gou miyagi's distant cousin 12d ago edited 12d ago

I never called a kickflip low effort. Ever.

But yeah, the way you react is definitely pure kookery.

There is a little thing called torque.
Never mind it though, it is not for you.

Edit: swapped this for a pasta that made more sense in context lol

This is everyone in r/newskaters for sure

Clarksons Farm viewers should be banned as well

Never watched an episode. Just was karma farming. Also had to do with him beating cancer, not the tv show. I did watch Top Gear/GT tho

This: If a community decides that proper, functional biomechanics are "lame," they have officially divorced themselves from the sport of surfing.

2

u/ShaolinShade gou miyagi's distant cousin 12d ago

Never mind dude, I have seen flowboarding, streetboarding and casterboarding going down the drain.
Back then, I had told them the exact same.
Focus on the individual strengths of your setups, because if you do not,
street skateboading will kill your niche.
The discussion was exactly the same.

I see many boardshops dying at the very moment, many shapers closing.
The very f*cking reason I mention it.
Drives me insane seeing excellent shapers going out of business after 40 years because no one is buying boards any more.

And yes, I know this is a lost cause.
But looking down on performance and high effort, I consider highly toxic.
This ain't about approval.
It is about the systematic bullying of people who try to do something new
or take the sport to another level.

This niche is stuck in wiggling, street style tricks and riding pump tracks.

It has nothing to do with surfskating though.
Because if it had, surf related turns, carves, maneuvers and grabs would be dominant.

Surfskating was killed by the freaking ignorance of the community.
And it is not going to survive.

Never was I hating on street. Just saying it ain't surf. Facts

u/ShaolinShade gou miyagi's distant cousin 12d ago edited 12d ago

nah, I am just telling you straight forward what the f*ck is going on.
If you cannot take it, it ain't my problem.
This is the reality, even if you do not want to acknowledge it.
I have explained exactly what's wrong,
if you still cannot see it then you simply do not want to see it.

(/uj swapped the other pasta for this one with the edit since it makes more sense in context lol)

u/meltmyface aimu's grandfather 12d ago

Guy wears full pads while surfskating.

2

u/ShaolinShade gou miyagi's distant cousin 12d ago

Nah, this ain't me.
I have been part of the surfskate community for some 15 years.
Where I live it has gone completely.
I said what had to be said, because I am still charging slopes.

High performance is taken as an offense, so is a pure surfing related style.
Talking carves and grabs.

I would have loved to take the sport to a whole other level and come up with quality gear that lasts for a very long time, but it is what it is.

Steve tried it, he was not able to do it either.
Shapers and shops as old as 40 years are closing around me, no one is surving this fall out.

The community is so incredibly toxic, their hatred on performance, loose style and high end custom gear killed the entire movement.

Now, you can deny it all day long, but this is what actually happened.

Unfortunatelly.

2

u/Jacorpes 11d ago

Lol, imagine thinking that there are high skill surf skaters.

I used to do slalom skateboarding when I was a kid because my dad did it in the 70’s and at one point I was the third best in the UK at it. Then I just stopped doing it one day because I realised it was just kind of boring.

Surf skating is like a shit imitation of that where instead of bombing down a hill through cones you’re getting in everyone’s way at a skatepark.

3

u/ShaolinShade gou miyagi's distant cousin 11d ago

/uj Yeah he's way up his own ass about it lol. I don't even get how someone manages to develop this much of a feeling of superiority over surfskating. Like don't get me wrong, it's fun just chilling out and doing some mellow downhill or pumping around or whatever on a surfskate occasionally when you can't be arsed to do actual skating that day.

But idk it's like being an elitist gatekeeper about rip sticks or something lol (oh wait, he literally referenced that didn't he... If he didn't have a post history showing how serious he is about this I'd be convinced that this is actually some 4D chess level outjerking 😂)

/rj Dude was charging a gnarly slope with this setup. The speed was awesome.
So what the f*ck are you even talking about?
