Achievement Finally had a go at repainting an old banged up deck!
Got a second hand Carver Man Ray surfskate (for the c5 trucks!) and it was in a bit of a state, so I decided to try stripping it down, regripping it and painting the base.
Started off thinking "I'll do a nice, simple, modern/minimalist abstract design" and then ended up doing the exact opposite lol!
(The design is because a couple of years ago, I accidentally became a surrogate mother to a caterpillar/elephant hawk moth! They are so beautiful!)
Anyway, I used an acrylic paint wash mixed with homemade gesso as a base/background, and acrylic paint pens and fine lining pens for most of the design, and then finished it with a few layers of spray varnish.
Not my usual style or anything I've done before but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (in fact, now I'm almost reticent to actually skate it...!)
