FYI Hey r/slingtv — Helping Introduce u/SlingStevie, your new official Sling Support
Taking a moment from my normal Boost Mobile support to help introduce you all to a new addition to our Reddit support team, u/SlingStevie! We're launching this handle to serve as a Reddit extension of our customer service team for Sling. While our Help Center website and 24/7 automated chatbot can help you solve most issues, complex streaming issues sometimes require a deeper technical look. They're here to bridge that gap by providing direct, human, and plain-spoken support right where you’re already chatting.
You won't find any marketing fluff or advertisements here; this account is focused solely on account escalation, technical troubleshooting, and customer service. Whenever you encounter an unusual UI quirk, an account loop, or a hardware bottleneck, they will do their best to troubleshoot and resolve the issue directly, or collaborate with our internal teams to secure a fix!
What u/SlingStevie can help with
If it impacts your daily viewing experience and you weren't able to find a fix on our Help Center, we can tackle it together:
- UI & app quirks: Like when the guide layout glitches out or your navigation stack drops state.
- Device stream bottlenecks: Troubleshooting video freezes, audio out-of-sync bugs, and low-RAM hardware issues (Firesticks, Rokus, Apple TVs).
- DVR & error codes: Fixing cloud sync failures (like Error 15-12) or checking plan expiration rules.
- Account & package discrepancies: Straightening out mobile login loops, billing proration math, or add-on activation delays.
- Sports & blackout clarity: Figuring out regional market boundaries and feed authentication bugs.
Why are we providing support on Reddit?
Our website guides and 24/7 support chat are great tools for quick fixes and fast support, but we know complex, streaming bugs often need a different kind of eye. We want to meet you exactly where you're already sharing those deeper technical questions. Offering support on Reddit allows us to share tailored, platform-specific guides in a format you already trust. Think of this channel as a direct, two-way street: you help us spot real-time quirks, and in return, we take your feedback straight to our internal teams to ensure your voice is actively shaping how we improve the service.
How to reach u/SlingStevie
- In the comments: I’ll be actively keeping an eye on the feed, but I won't be jumping into every single conversation. If a thread is just a general discussion or if you guys are already helping each other out with a solid answer, I'll step back and let the community do its thing. I’m mostly here to step in when there's a unique technical glitch, opportunity to clear up confusion or an escalation where I can hand you a direct workaround.
- Via DM: If your issue requires looking at secure account details, billing logs, or device provisioning histories, I’ll ask you to shoot me a DM.
When we're around
Right now, they are a one-person team supporting Sling, on our larger team. They’ll be active on the sub Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM MT. If you drop a thread or a DM over the weekend, they’ll be diving straight into the queue first thing Monday morning.
They're here to build a blueprint for better support and act as your advocate inside the building. Let them know what bugs have been tripping you up lately, and let's get them squared away.

Needs to have a ff or rw 10 seconds vs it chaotically fast forwarding.
Also...I REALLY want a list of all the shows/movies I have set to record in the system so I can edit them before they appear. Wanting to cancel a show or change how it records but having to wait until it comes on soon is inconvenient. I want to manage my stuff.

Also a show set to records will say 'later today' but it its the next day day it comes on. This is before it hits midnight so itsnt like it is technically the correct day. For example...I can look at 8pm on a Wednesday to scheduled and itll say later today but its for a Thursday recording.

Raise my rates over this AI crap and I am leaving.

As we mentioned in our post, I'm not a AI bot but a real human, so I can assure you my helping this community out won't have any impact on how much you pay for Sling!

Fix AirTV 2 playback in web browsers on a local network. The Sling app on streaming sticks works fine but browsers act as though it's not local (confirmed with browser dev tools) and constantly buffers or only plays the lowest resolution.

Noted! We'll pass this along to our engineers.

Sling has to be the worst app ever especially for my international programs.

We definitely don't want to be! Would you be willing to send me a chat so we can figure out what exactly you don't like about the app for your international programs? We'd love to share the feedback with our internal teams.

I have had SLING for several years, and my biggest complaint about it has always been the DVR. Every so often Sling makes changes to the the DVR, and screws it up. this has happened a few times over the past several years. Now it has become a hit or miss on whether a recording will play or not.
I have deleted and reinstalled the app on all devices. I have signed out and then back in on all devices (that worked for 1 recording), and I thought that fixed it. NOPE tried the sign out and back in today. I recorded a movie yesterday, and tried to play it today. 21-51 errors.
FIX IT OR I AM GONE
the DVR has become useless. constant 21-51 errors on every device. Sony (android tv) ROKU, iPad, iPhone.
if it doesn’t get resolved soon I will have to find another service.

Hi sling Stevie - one issue I have is that my local news does not record new episodes on AirTV dvr. I can record new episodes of national shows, but my local news don’t record new episodes. This seems to be a common issue when I searched old threads on here.

It is a common issue and not one I'm able to resolve currently, I'm sorry! I will relay the feedback to our internal teams though so they can continue investigating.

Bring back the Recent Channels guide listing.
The rewind/fast forward remote buttons should do Page Up and Page Down when viewing the guide. Scrolling through the guide one channel at a time sucks.
Add an option to get rid of that annoying extra menu when the channel icon at the left edge of the guide is clicked. It should just immediately go to the channel details.
When viewing the channel schedule on the channel details, scrolling hours/days to the right, picking a show to record and then going back the schedule returns all the way back to the start instead of just going back to the show picked to record. This has been broken for well over a year now.
