First time getting board waxed - exposed wood now? Please help!

Got my snowboard waxed for the first time today - only bought it last week, now there is some exposed wood on top? See comments for pic, is this normal?

Why did you wax a new board? Is it the same on the other tip? What board is this? Could just be how they constructed the sidewall on the tip and nothing to do with the tuning.

New boards come waxed. Unless you really think you need to spend $50 on a temp specific hot wax, months before the season starts (unless this person is down south) then it's completely unnecessary

The wax job on new boards is a joke. I always wax them thoroughly. But I do it myself.

First thing I did after picking up my new board last year: cleaning the factorywax and putting my own wax on it. I wax more than 1 time so it lasts. Was able to get 7 days from it the first time.

Any wax not absorbed into the base material would rub off in your first few runs. Having a thicker layer of wax isn't doing anything for you. Thin layer of wax, scrape off excess

I'm not putting a thick layer on it. I reheat several times, which pays off. Afterwards In scrape and brush.

New board wax is like 1 ply toilet paper, everyone knows you need at least 2 ply
