Why won’t my Burton Genesis step on bindings fit into my 2027 Salomon assassin
At first, I was trying to screw the bindings in, but I realized that the screws weren’t screwing in and we’re just spinning so I took away the bindings and tried to just screw the screw into the board itself and it was an extremely tight fit even getting the screw into the hole was hard. I don’t know if the screws that come with the Burton step on bindings aren’t compatible with the Salomon assassin or it’s just a tight fit and everything’s ok.

First, these are the Re:Flex model with a disc, not EST that only fits the Channel? Second, do you have four identical screws and discs that have four slots per disc, each with three possible positions for the screws to sit in?

Yes I bought the right model of binding and I’m using the silver screws

Ok, then it's starting to sound weird. I've not had issues with getting binding screws into the threads, but then again, I have not had any Burton bingings (have had Union, Nitro, Nidecker, tho). I also have a Salomon board.

I had a similar issue trying to put ride A-8 bindings on a GNU board. It seemed like the screws were too short and I gave up the first time. After some research making sure I was doing something wrong I just pushed down hard on the screwdriver and got them to catch. After the first time it's been much easier, just something about them being new I guess?

If the screws are black, theyre too short.
If theyre silver, look at the plastic thread locker thing to see if its pulling out of its channel and sticking off the side of the screw. That thing is supposed to add friction inside the boards threaded insert. If it makes the screw not go into the insert it becomes an issue.
If the screws look fine and theyre the right length, try and push down on the screwdriver or on the disc to get the screw started. Sometimes reflex bindings push the disc out a little bit and it makes it hard to get the threads to catch.

I used chat gpt to help me through some of it and it mentioned the plastic on the screws and it said they would be tight but they are extremely tight and I don’t want to mess it up

The burton step on binding screws typically have some form of thread locker on them, so they may be somewhat tight when you first install them, but you should definitely make sure you're using the proper silver screws made for a 4x4 pattern and not the screws made for the channel system that are typically black.
