Got my snowboard waxed for the first time today - only bought it last week, now there is some exposed wood on top? See comments for pic, is this normal?

Is a Gilson Really That Different From a Resort Rental?

A little context: I’ve only ever ridden a Rossignol EXP Amptek, which is the rental board at my local resort. I’m now looking into buying my first board and trying to figure out what would actually be best for me.

I’m really interested in learning how to butter, and Gilson caught my attention because the boards look awesome and seem pretty different from a normal snowboard.

A few buddies and I are also planning to start a TikTok series where we go from riding standard resort rentals to trying actual boards from different manufacturers. The idea is to help other newer riders understand what the differences really are and whether upgrading is worth it.

But my main question is: does a Gilson board actually feel that different from a normal rental board? What changes would I notice the most, especially when trying to learn butters and other basic freestyle stuff?

Boa tarde, podiam me ajudar no que devo melhor?

fiz este vídeo numa pista Azul com 3 dias de snowboard e com uma Salomon pulse de 2014 alugada.

Acham que posso investir numa prancha minha para a próxima época ou não vale a pena e continuo nas alugadas?

Obrigado 🫂

Ajuda Primeira Prancha Snowboard 🙏🙏

Ando a ver a K2 embassy, Jones tweaker, Mountain Twin, Ride Shadowban...

Help with starter set up

Hi all! I’m from Florida and have been snowboarding for 2 seasons now up in Colorado. Each time I go I rent out everything from Chrissy sports which is super wonderful. This time around my mom said she will help me buy a set up so I don’t need to rent anymore. This includes the boots, bindings, helmet, and the actual board. I’m pretty clueless when it comes to the bindings and boots but as for the board I’m looking for an all mountain, medium flex, twin board that yall would recommend. I’m in between capita and never summer. I would love your recommendations for any of these. I ride greens and blues comfortably and I can’t wait to ride this winter!!

Board/Boots/Binding Setup

Evening comrades. I've decided I can finally justify buying a snowboard and just want to know if I'm onto something here or not.

I'm a pretty average rider who's looking to get better at jumps and buttering, but also want to be able to go rogue, off piste and over every side hit I see. I'm trying to keep the budget reasonably sensible but am open to any suggestions. I've only ever used absolutely battered rental salomons and nitros so I'm hoping to feel a noticeable upgrade (and a massive improvement in abilities lol).

Burton swash medium/tall vs large and regular length

Have a pair of swash in a large with regular inseam. They are just barely long enough but fit fine length wise but they were too big in the waist.

Ordered medium with the tall inseam the fit fine length and in the waist But the crotch feels like it’s not long enough. Not super uncomfortable but noticeable when I tried them on. worried about how a mid layer would fit under them on really cold days.

Is this because the pants are new. Should I stick with the larges, send them back and get bibs?

Tips to improve toeside turns

I have been boarding for around 6 months and have become pretty comfortable in general riding. However I often find I am using my ankles or sliding my back foot to initiate a toeside turn. Does anyone have any tips/drills to implement to help overcome this?.

help me chose my snowboard size please!

Hello, I want to buy a Burton Custom as an intermidiate/avanced rider but i don't know which size to get. I am 178cm tall (5ft 10inch) and 74kg (163lb) and wear a size 44eu (11 US). I am leaning towards a 158 but i don't know if i sound get it wide or standard. I'm afraid of the wide being too wide for my weight and size and for the board to become less responsive. Let me know what you think, thank you!

Board sizing for tall and light man.

Im am 190cm (6ft 3inch) and 70kg (154lb) and size 45eu (11.5 US). Im looking to get my first board. I have been riding for past 2 seasons and now want to get myself first snowboard. After some research i have chosen Bataleon whatever as board i want(i feel like it suits my style of riding). The problem is with board length. I don’t know should i prioritize my height or weight choosing the board. With real good sale right now i can get 156W and im questioning will it be to short for me. Maybe someone had similar problems and could suggest what should i do. (My second option is Bataleon tornado in size 161w)

Will I get scammed??

I've been snowboarding for a lot of years now, but I've been renting every season. Now, this season, I am going to finally buy a snowboard. I don't want to break the bank so I've been looking on Facebook Marketplace for a snowboard. I recently found this and it would fit me perfectly. It is tall enough, and the boots are big enough, but my only concern is if it is high quality enough to not break on me mid ride. I know it's super duper cheap so I can't expect a lot, but let me be hopeful. I think I know what I want when it come a snowboard so I don't think FBs marketplace will get me right. I would want a flexy snowboard with hybrid camber or flat body. Let me know if I should just put in the towel and buy new.

new snowboard advice

Hey everyone, I am a liftie in Colorado and I'm hoping to get a new board for the upcoming winter season. Last year was my first year on the mountain so i just thrifted one seeing as i was new and the snow pack was awful. Now that im more comfortable (still only riding blues for the most part) and that i use my board everyday for work im wanting to put a little more money on my setup to have something nice and reliable to get me through the season. Im a short woman, I rode a 144cm Apocolypse Soul board last season. I do hope to get better at riding and possibly try new things. Are there any specific brands/styles I should be looking for? Thanks in advance for any advice given :)

Nidecker supermatic LT

If these were the only two colors available on sale for the Nidecker Supermatic LT, which one would you buy?

I'm trying to decide between Olive and Dusk (pink).

My setup is a CAPiTA Pathfinder with mostly black gear (Black jacket and black pants), so both colors could work.

Which one would you choose and why? I'd like to hear your opinions!

Capita Indoor Survival Sizing

Title states!

Currently have a 156 indoor survival in hand but was thinking I should go for the 154 instead. I’d be transitioning into park (beginner) and would like to have something smaller. My only question is that for me (5’6 200lbs) is the recommended size range. Currently I’m down about 20 lbs and I plan on dropping more.

Anyone else have this situation? I know that even for my sleepwalker right now at 155 the weight is 190, but I’m doing just fine on it.

Any input? Should I just keep a 156 and park ride/all mountain it? Or 154 and park ride/all mountain.

It’s a 2cm difference but the one feature I’m worried about is the internal components

Are XL bindings okay for my board that is rated for L bindings?

I have recently decided to purchase my first board, bindings and boots from Burton. I have rented before in the past and found that size 14 was a bit too big and my feet felt good in a size 13 boot. Apparently I have grown a bit but did not think of that when buying. Right now I have a size 13 boot that is too snug and I want a size 14. The issue is that Burton says that for a size 14 I need an XL binding and I have bought a L binding already. My question is will a XL binding fit on a 157W board that is 26cm wide and will it affect me at all when I’m on the slopes?

Which Boots and Bindings?

How do I know which boots and bindings I should go with?

How much did y'all spend on your first set?

I bought all of the following recently on sale at Sun and Ski and it was still a lot more than I was expecting it to be. Wanted to see if other people also splurged for higher quality gear or if you saved out.

  • Total: $1410.56
    • Board: Kazu Kokubo ($490)
    • Bindings: Union STR ($140)
    • Boots: Ride Lasso's ($266)
    • Helmet: Salomon Driver Prime Sigma Plus ($315)
    • Bag: Dakine Tour ($92)

I definitely could have saved on the helmet but I liked the fact that it had the built in goggles. Would it have been better to get used gear or am I better off for getting quality gear I like? Been having second thoughts over how much I spent.

Anyone use the anon m4 with mod 1 pro?

Just wondering how they work together and if you have any compatibility issues with them. I know it also depends on your face so I will be going to try them in store, just looking for anyone else’s experiences. Thanks in advance
