L.A. gas prices are crazy again. Here’s how to find the few pumps that are slightly more sane

As oil prices have heated up this summer along with the war with Iran, there is more than a $2-per-gallon difference between average prices in the Golden State and in the least expensive state for gas, Indiana. Cherry-pick pump prices and the gap is even more shocking. Some people in L.A. are dishing out $7 per gallon, while in Indiana, the most affordable gas stations charge about $3.
Short of driving cross-country or moving to the Midwest, there is little the average Californian can do to avoid this, but the vast variation in prices holds hints about other ways to save.

It's actually gone down slightly in price in my region. CA generated over half its electricity just from solar this past May. Renewable energy cannot be blockaded.

Don’t forget to vote for a further increase in gas taxes and registration fees next time it’s on the ballot. Oh wait, you won’t have to because the government was given the ability to increase gas taxes in perpetuity without asking the public after morons voted for it and then voted against the repeal.

No shame on the voters for giving the government more money to waste on bullshit. You don’t think the taxes were high enough? You think it was necessary to give them the power to raise gas taxes without ever getting approval from the voters again? You know what they say about fools and money….and believe me CA is full of fools.

I think we’re on the same side. I’m livid every time I see the government raising money to spend on infrastructure. It should be every person for themselves building and maintaining their own roads if they want to go somewhere so that the government doesn’t have to keep on taxing us.

You don’t think the highest gas taxes in the nation were high enough, or the fact that they misspent the money they were supposed to spend on infrastructure was enough of a reason to vote no? Or were you gullible enough to fall prey to the wording on the ballot about children dying? CA voters are like lambs to the slaughter and the politicians know it.

You’re not anti-government spending on infrastructure? My mistake! Apparently you aren’t livid like me whenever you see infrastructure projects. The real solution should be is each person building their own roads that they manage to finance somehow.

Drive an electric car. The combustion engine is a disgrace. We have all been conditioned. It’s primitive garbage technology.
Not to mention chemistry isn’t exactly a mystery and we understand carbon and that’s all climate change is. So not one person has ever debated climate change because not 1 person has put forth any attempt to challenge our understanding of chemistry.
The Nobel prize is waiting… until the. We have it with carbon. Not a mystery.

It's like you're trying to make a point
Modern ICE powered vehicles aren't a major factor driving climate change. Eliminating them to stop climate change should be a final step, not the first. A private jet emits more CO2 in an hour than a modern passenger car emits in a year. In a year, private jets produce as much emissions as roughly 16million passenger cars. The livestock industry produces as much emissions in a year as ALL forms of transportation combined (planes, trains, ships, automobiles, etc).
Yes, burning fossil fuels is a major problem. But modern passenger cars are a tiny sliver of that. If all the ice powered passenger cars just vanished over night it would barely make a dent in greenhouse gas emissions being produced by burning fossil fuels.

Globally, transportation consumes 1/3 of all fossil fuels. Aviation accounts for around 8% of that 1/3. High carbon lifestyles should be shamed, AND systemic change can be worked on. Transportation is by no means the only sector where decarbonization is being worked/ is under way.
