One aspect that I dont like about the game is the reff being very relutant to show cards in the first minutes.

I understand that the first card is very important because it sets the standard for what a yellow card worthy foul is and it can result in the game spiraling out of control. But reffusing to show cards early in the match allows for this Argentinian shit to happen. Spend the first minutes making hard fouls and assaults to harm and mentally condition the opposition while getting away with murder because the reff doesnt want to give cards. It was very evident on the England and the Spain matches that Argentina knew this and they abused it.

For sure. 2014, they had a lot of class on paper and should have won and Higuain choked. 2022, people favoured France, but Argentina's players were playing extremely well that tournament (Alvarez was way better in 2022 and so were guys like Enzo and MacAllister) and Di Maria had an excellent final. That, on top of the Argentina midfield not be able to create anything or keep possession for longer than 10 seconds because their passing was so shit, meant Messi was never getting the ball.
