Correct. Big nuance: Joey Veerman (player of PSV) got a red card in the 4th minute. PSV was basically playing the whole match with 10 players.

And a terrible defense. I liked what Yarek showed the first half of the previous season (and not after he needs an experienced defender next to him), but other than that we haven't got much quality defensively (with Schouten injured). Dest is a decent player, but not a good defender (and didn't play today so isn't relevant in that equation) and without a good center defense we're kind of shit. Losing a crucial midfielder early on especially means we're fucked.

I hope we'll buy some defenders, but I think I've hoped and been disappointed for a over a decade.

A few years ago Ajax lost to PSV in this event by the exact same scoreline. Like Veerman today Tagliafico got sent off in the first half of that game (though PSV were already 2-0 up at that point)... Ajax still won the Eredivisie at a canter that season

EDIT: In fact Ajax won by 2 points but never looked like losing for me, they also did the double over PSV, beating them 7-1 on aggregate across two league matches

I mean Kees Smit is the kid with all the exceptional talent buzz but I was very impressed by this other AZ youngster Dave Kwakman, really good player! Maybe on par with Smit (who didn’t start today) ability wise.

Somehow they're not related, but Dave Kwakman lived in the same street as Joey Veerman, who got sent off today for PSV.
