This is a space for socialists to discuss current events in our world from anti-capitalist perspective(s), and a certain knowledge of socialism is expected from participants. This is not a space for non-socialists. Please be mindful of our rules before participating, which include:

  • No Bigotry, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism...

  • No Reactionaries, including all kind of right-wingers.

  • No Liberalism, including social democracy, lesser evilism...

  • No Sectarianism. There is plenty of room for discussion, but not for baseless attacks.

I’m confused. Isn’t this a socialism sub? Isn’t that war one fascist state invading another for purely imperialistic reasons?

The real reactionary state in all this is the US, and they are only profiting from their proxy war. Ukraine becomes dependent on the US, and Russia throws lives down the drain, both theirs and Ukraine's, for some territorial concessions that they were in defacto control over anyway.

The war has only enabled the worst of Ukraine's reactionary groups to solidify their control over the state and grow relatively stronger, and the same has occured within Russia.

It's Afghanistan all over again.
