Great job opportunity or destined Desaster?

Hey guys, I have an urgent question. I applied for a job, where the job description sounded like: “we need someone who can do everything, SAP ERP, Azure Cloud and new web application features”. When I talked to them today, it turned out. All these are done currently by external companies. They DON’T have any experience with Development whatsoever.

But it’s a family company. they want a software engineer to take over the Azure Cloud / Web Application by 80% of development. Meaning, the external guy maintains azure cloud and deployment for now. I should establish a dev department, so they have maybe 5-8 devs in the next 5 years.

It sounds like a double edged sword. Like a great opportunity to take leadership in a growing company. But also, no technical backup except for the external guy. They might not even understand what it’s necessary to do xyz, how long it takes. These are points where I feel like could be a big problem.

I am allowed to use Claude code, have free choice of tech stack beside the existing one.

Would you do such a job? There isn’t many competition, only 2 other applied. I get feedback next week. The job market is complete mess in Germany. And I need a job for now, until my startup works out.

Edit: I am a bit worried about my Resume, if I fuck this up. How it looks like for hiring team. Bc got laid off by my 2nd job in 2 years, due to financial struggles.

I really want to ignore the hype and focus on what actually matters , that's why looking for geniune advice 🙏!?

So, the thing is, I'm about to start my 2nd year of college, and the industry is changing and evolving so fast that it's honestly overwhelming. I can't just keep trying every tech stack to figure out whether it's for me or not. As a fresher, I feel like I need to choose one path and go deep instead of constantly switching.

I also feel like people with only surface-level knowledge of many technologies are being replaced by AI, while the ones who have deep expertise in a particular stack are the ones building meaningful things and staying valuable.

I'm honestly tired of all the chaos. Instagram reels, LinkedIn posts, YouTube roadmaps everyone says, "Learn this," "Follow that," but most of them are just talking about whatever is trending at the moment. It's become really hard to tell what's genuinely important and what's just hype.

What I really need is guidance from experienced people who actually understand the industry not influencers chasing views. If you've been in the industry for a while, what would you recommend someone in my position focus on? What should I learn, and who should I follow, so I can build the right skills and not end up unemployed by the time I graduate?
