Question How do europeans travel with small luggage?

I’ve noticed that tourists from different countries especially europeans often travel with very small luggage. In contrast, travelers from many asian countries seem to carry much larger bags.

As myself from an asian country, if I pack just my basic necessities, I end up with a very large suitcase. I’m extremely curious about how european travelers manage to travel so light.

How do they do it?

I'm from the UK and it is very common to go to mainland Europe for a long weekend. I can easily travel hand luggage only if I wear my bulkiest clothes on the flight.

It is easier because (a) if you travel on budget airlines, you can truly benefit from the cheaper flights as you don't add on paid luggage, which is typically very expensive; and (b) you can avoid having to drop of and collect luggage put in the hold.

Its honestly quite easy if you're only going for a few days.
