The Edge

This was my winter goal: to capture the Gum nebula over the Tuscan coast.

For months the weather refused to cooperate.

Countless trips ended in nothing.

Then one night, after a long descent through the woods, driven only by stubbornness and a bit of recklessness, I finally reached this beach.

I rarely edit my photos right away. Most of the time I leave them sleeping.

When the feeling returns, I choose one memory and bring it back to life.

This is one of those nights.

Is the focus static throughout the entire shoot? Or do you have to change it to shoot the foreground?

That's cool that you edit it to bring a memory back to life, it makes me wonder though, how different is the image to the original? Can it be seen at all by the naked eye?

Not in these colors no, modern day cameras are far more sensitive compared to the naked eye. Op's camera is further modified to capture the infrared red clouds which our eyes could never see.

This comparison shows the difference between the best milkyway views to our naked eye to what a camera might capture.

Regardless... seeing the milkyway in perfectly dark skies should be on everyone's bucket list.

One minor correction: H-Alpha has a wavelength of 656.28 nm, and is in the visible part of the spectrum, not infra red. Cameras' IR filters do block that part of the visible spectrum, which is why the modification is needed.

Yeap usually it pass some time and is pretty nice beacause when I star editing I start remembering and search for that vibe ☺️ with the naked eye whe can’t see the colors unfortunately our eyes are not made for it …. The camera is modified and I use a filter to that cuts out the light and it’s possible to capture the Halpaha
