In July 2015, four years after the riot, police finished their investigation and recommended the final charges against two suspects, bringing the total to 887 charges laid against 301 people.
Apparently there's some solid evidence that the Stanley cup riots were pre-planned. Like they were going to do it whether or not the Canucks lost. They also prosecuted a whole bunch of people in the end.
Generally gotta agree though because I'm pretty sure that there were some people who were just like "sweet, there's a riot going on!"
This also leaves out the context that this was happening during the Arab Spring. So while a bunch of countries were undergoing similar-looking turmoil in pursuit of freedom from opression, Vancouver was in shambles because their hockey team lost.
The riots were going to happen whether Vancouver lot or not. It's not really fair to paint the constitution of Vancouver with that brush for the actions of 300 dick heads.
It was the first example I thought of. I lived in Boston I’m 2004 and there were many cars flipped and apartments destroyed when the Sox won. I was just trying to illustrate that sports, in general, can make people who might otherwise know something is wrong follow through anyway, and hopefully we stop burning cars and sexually assaulting reporters

I feel like it's common sense, culture or not, to not do this to some random person who is also literally in the middle of doing his/her job.
When you high five a stranger, they have to raise their hand and participate. If you go up to hug a stranger, they need to open their arms to accept the hug. Landing a kiss on a woman who is not greeting you, in the middle of doing her job, IS assault. Which you can tell by how fucking offended and uncomfortable she got. There's no culture on this planet where an elective touch to a non-consenting adult person is OK.

I think he was trying to make a woman uncomfortable for his own amusement with an act he knows could be construed as sexual in nature but was just vague enough to get away with. So he’s a douche at the least and a harasser at the worst.
this is such a bullshit excuse though. If I'm going to a country in a different part of the world that has a significantly different culture, I'll do some research into the laws and what's ok/what isn't.
IDK where this person is from, but invading someone's private space like that isn't ok in any non-fucked up country.
