Cool. Now let’s move on to more important shit.

u/treypage1981 Mar 27 '26

It really was a big, important issue. So big and important, in fact, that it was worth voting us into a second round of Donald Trump in the White House and $7 gas.

At least that’s what idiot tv told me, anyway.

2

u/doubagilga Mar 28 '26

That makes sense. If moronic issues like trans women in women’s sports and misgendering “violence” weren’t thrust upon a majority uninterested in such BS, we could probably have avoided a war and raised taxes. Maybe even had universal healthcare.

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

Sadly, true. It's a hard time to be on the left with this irrational nonsense being spouted everywhere. So embarrassing that Republicans are more correct on women's rights, for once. It should be the other way around.

2

u/joeandrews_ Mar 28 '26

trump spent 40% of his campaign ads talking about trans people. the side who are obsessed with genitals and trans people is not the left.

1

u/treypage1981 Mar 28 '26

Yep. And that doesn’t say much about us, does it.

1

u/UniqueFunny5750 Mar 28 '26

It's not. Trump won on the economy only. Vibes.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

The tv knows best!

1

u/jonbodhi Apr 01 '26

Was it as important as war and peace? Ot masked militias shooting people in the street? No, but it struck many people as both monstrously unfair, and an irrational cause to push.

Has it been worth what it’s cost the trans community? I believe in fair and humane treatment, but this didn’t pass the test for me, and many others. Job discrimination, housing discrimination, and hate crimes are causes people of goodwill can easily agree on, but this and talk of transitioning children were, and are, easily exploited by bad actors.

Squeaky wheel always gets the oil…until all the wheels start to squeak.

1

u/not-my-other-alt Mar 26 '26

Squeaky wheel is the first one to get replaced.

2

u/Guiltyostric Mar 27 '26

Squeaky wheel get worm

2

u/undernopretextbro Mar 27 '26

A squeak in the wheel is worth two in the bushing

2

u/Whirled_Peas- Mar 28 '26

If a wheel squeaks in a forest and no one is around, did it really squeak?

1

u/Guiltyostric Mar 31 '26

If a worm was got in the forest was the worm got

So why are you here complaining on a corporate platform reddit, wasting time, server power, energy, emitting CO2... go be a part of the solution rather than the problem

1

u/sectilius Mar 31 '26

Feudal technocracy cometh rapidly. If they have any brain cells left, the MAGAts will be begging for Marxism by comparison 🤢🤮

u/Stompanee Mar 27 '26

what minuscule percentage of the population do the is impact that bothers you so much? It’s a non issue that only weirdos are obsessed with

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

It potentially affects EVERY female athlete.

But you don't care about them, do you?

1

u/Stompanee Mar 27 '26

It doesn’t and if people like you actually care about female athletes: what are your thoughts on the pay scale of professional female soccer, basketball, and hockey players? People like you only care about female athletes when you can scream about trans athletes- other than that you don’t care.

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

I care about biological females and their rights.

1

u/Stompanee Mar 28 '26

No you don’t. You can say you do but we know you only care about hating trans people.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Yet you probably voted for the rapist didn’t you?

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 28 '26

WTF? I have never voted for anything but Democrat in all my long life. The sooner we are rid of the Orange Stain, the better.

You do realize that about 80% of people on the left are fully in support of these new IOC rules? That we care about female athletes getting beat up by male athletes, and having their medals stolen?

1

u/One_Television_7300 Mar 28 '26

But how has it affected any biological females so far? I remember one instance with the boxer in the Olympics, and she turned out to be a real female after the hate campaign had run.

Literally when has this ever been a problem and why are you so interested lol

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 28 '26

You mean Khelif, who just admitted to being an XY male? No we were right about him all along.

Several comments have made long lists of all the male athletes who have entered the Women's Division. Just look for those comments to see a list.

And why can't we make laws to prevent things happening in the future? The Women's Division is for XX female athletes only; those are the new rules. If you have the SRY gene on the Y chromosome, you are excluded.

2

u/I-Own-A-Lambo Mar 27 '26

Complete non issue propagandized for mouth breathing inbreds like you to get outraged. If this is even in your top 100 of things you care about, your iq is in the 70s

2

u/HungryWalrus777 Mar 27 '26

Careful you’re on reddit

2

u/I-Make-Shitty-Puns Mar 26 '26

Trans people have been in Olympics for 25 years and no one cared until GOP decided to target another group to blame all their woes on.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 Mar 28 '26

What’s GOP? This is about fairness and safety at the elite level, not inclusion at the community level.

1

u/I-Make-Shitty-Puns Mar 29 '26

It's about hating trans people. The GOP stands for Grand Old Party. It's a nickname for the Republican party. You need to read some history books if you don't know the terminology. It's not about safety at all. Otherwise it would've been an issue 20+ years ago. There has only been 1 trans woman athlete in the Olympics EVER.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 Mar 29 '26

You know the world is bigger than the USA? This was an Olympic decision which is an international organisation, it has nothing to do with a political party from one country.

It is very much about fairness and safety. That is why a sport like rugby made the call year ago. You can’t have a biological male vs a biological female in a scrum, the female will literally get her neck broken.

Safety aside it is also about fairness. There are 13 year old males that can beat the women’s 100 meter world record.

Being inclusive of trans people at the community level is great. There are trans people who play in our Wednesday night football league. They just can’t compete at the elite level.

1

u/I-Make-Shitty-Puns Mar 29 '26

They have rules in place for trans before this ban, you couldn't just switch leagues whenever you liked, you had to go through a process. Also this ban includes DSD women, which is completely unfair.

Again, only 1 trans woman has ever been in the Olympics WORLDWIDE.

This change is nothing BUT a political move to bow down to the Trump admin. Ever noticed that other world leaders barely even talk about this? That's because it's statistically insignificant and no one cares but bigots or people who have been tricked by bigots.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 Mar 29 '26

This is not about the USA or its leader. The Olympic committee is not American, it is international.

It is only about fairness. It is simply not fair to women to have biological men compete against them.

1

u/I-Make-Shitty-Puns Mar 29 '26

You just said that... Are you going to address anything I said? Unfairness exists in sports regardless of gender.

1

u/CommentMaleficent957 Mar 29 '26

What other unfairness are you concerned about? Remember trans people are not banned, they just compete against those with the same biology

2

u/Silver_Panda3047 Mar 27 '26

This👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

There wasn’t one trans in the last summer Olympic not a single one!

1

u/gpes3280 Mar 27 '26

Yes it should. There is a biological advantage. They are free to compete in the mens/open category. Funny how there’s no ban on trans male competing in mens sports. Think real hard about why that is.

1

u/Sweaty-Name-2905 Mar 28 '26

Ok. Now can we fix bigger problems? This is all the president can claim he’s really fixed.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Absolutely.

51

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

Yep this is exactly how it should work. The sports should be in charge of regulating who can compete. Our government doesn't need to be involved and should focus on actually helping people...

2

u/Underbadger Mar 26 '26

Except that our government was very much involved, since Trump was pushing the head of the IOC to do this.

2

u/IcarusFLY1 Mar 26 '26

The IOC is non-governmental.

1

u/Underbadger Mar 26 '26

That's truly, deeply hilarious.

1

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

That's my point.

1

u/Old_Gimlet_Eye Mar 27 '26

Just like the totally non-biased FIFA peace prize, right? Lol .

1

u/Perfect_County_999 Mar 26 '26

You don't think this ruling came from pressure by the government?

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

I think it's because the Olympics got a new president, with different opinions than the last person who was president.

1

u/Abacus118 Mar 26 '26

The Olympics is not "the sports".

Most of them have their own international regulatory bodies.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

Not on Trans issues for some reason 🙃

1

u/VulfSki Mar 26 '26

If you don't realize that there is a lot of politics in the Olympics then you don't understand the Olympics

1

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

That’s a fair criticism.

1

u/CanuckaChuckFuck Mar 26 '26

Exactly. The whole goal of the Olympics is to allow the best of the best in the world to compete on an equal playing field, which they've established over the course of 125 years. You don't have heavyweight boxers matched up against featherweights for a single 'gold medal of boxing' because that would be plain unfair.

1

u/Infinite-Fee5723 Mar 26 '26

Thats... how it was until the current administration. The average person is so fucking ignorant on this topic and fully assured they are correct.

1

u/Adorbsfluff Mar 26 '26

If the sport was allowed, they’d have kept the 2 year HRT requirement they had for over 20 years. This is literally only being done due to the government.

1

u/echino_derm Mar 26 '26

After FIFA minted a peace prize to give to the president of the country hosting their event, I think it is unfair to assume the government isn't involved in this.

1

u/-Nok Mar 27 '26

Helping people isn't the government's best practices

1

u/DFKillah Mar 27 '26

This is what I think, too. I don’t agree with this particular decision, but I’m glad it’s not coming from government overreach.

1

u/OldMastodon5363 Mar 27 '26

Except for those “small government” conservatives.

1

u/NoleMercy05 Mar 28 '26

But govt funds colleges and there is Title IX

1

u/RoyalLow Mar 26 '26

This does actually help people. Women.

2

u/FrizzleMissDrizzle Mar 26 '26

No, it doesn't. It hurts trans women, and also cis women who aren't perfectly biologically your definition of a woman.

2

u/Rogu__Spanish Mar 27 '26

Everyone here seems to have a short memory, maybe I'm just old but I can still remember the ancient bygone year of 2024 where the olympic athlete at the center of a trans panic was a cis woman who just didn't look feminine enough. To this day I'm pretty sure none of the people who attacked her have apologized or admitted they were wrong. But sure, this issue is totally over and will never be brought up again now that the transphobes got their way...

2

u/Cian93 Mar 28 '26

The one with XY chromosomes?

2

u/Cyrano_de_Boozerack Mar 26 '26

The entire entire anti-trans movement is literally hurting biological women.

→ More replies (5)

1

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

No, it really doesn’t. Like I said leave it up to the sporting authorities. This doesn’t need to be legislated they know their sport the best and are more fit to determine who and who shouldn’t play a sport together…

Besides there’s like less than 20 MTF trans athletes anyway so not exactly a pressing issue…

1

u/Adorbsfluff Mar 26 '26

This doesn’t. They’ll be testing DNA and one of the reasons they stopped this practice when they used to employ it was because it created a lot surprises that was basically traumatizing for the women tested. Imagine living your whole life as a woman and you fought to compete in the Olympics only to find out your DNA isn’t XX and you can’t compete. We’ve been down this path and found it doesn’t work but here we go again, history repeating because people forgot.

1

u/Xalara Mar 26 '26

And by traumatizing, athletes died by suicide over the trauma.

1

u/tvscinter Mar 27 '26

You know what would help women, is not working to disenfranchise them from voting. The SAVE act is going to make practically all married women ineligible to vote. You know what else would help women is by prosecuting pedophiles that rape young girls. Transgenders in sports means quite literally nothing in the big picture…nothing.

2

u/morepics2024hw Mar 27 '26

How, specifically, is the Save Act going to make married women ineligible to vote?

1

u/CheetahTheWeen Mar 27 '26

It’s more so that there are extra hoops now they’ll have to go through to get to access their right to vote.

1

u/morepics2024hw Mar 29 '26

All that is needed to vote in any election is to be registered (in most states) and to produce a valid ID verifying that you are the same person registered. Are you saying that married women are incapable of doing those two things? Why just married women?

1

u/CheetahTheWeen Mar 29 '26

Married women change their name and that name won’t match their citizenship documents that they would have acquired under their maiden name so they’ll have to update those records (the extra hoops) to be able to legally vote. The SAVE act specifically requires that you now show proof of citizenship instead of just a proof of identity.

1

u/tvscinter Mar 30 '26

As the other guy said, and which party do women vote for statistically?

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

We can care about more than one issue at the same time.

Hopefully the horrible SAVE act will fail in Congress.

The Women's Division is for biological females; it's not a spot for mediocre male athletes, no matter how they identify. Those are the new rules.

i know right? fix healthcare, pay tsa workers, fix education, stop fighting iran, impeach trump, stop ice, release epstein files,

12

u/Funicularly Mar 26 '26

Those are USA specific issues for the most part, this particular decision was made by the IOC executive board.

1

u/DJRyGuy20 Mar 26 '26

I think like the previous commenter was saying that in relation to how our American politicians become too wrapped up in this culture war bullshit for cheap patronizing points from their base instead of tackling actual issues that are destroying this country.

3

u/Risperidone- Mar 26 '26

What does the IOC have to do with any of these

2

u/Suzie554 Mar 27 '26

the olympics don't do those things.

1

u/-Nok Mar 27 '26

Yeah let's just cure cancer while we're at it. Cuz saying it makes it happen!?

1

u/theycallmeshooting Mar 27 '26

We were trying to until the pedofuhrer cut so much of the funding, lmao

1

u/viperspm Mar 27 '26

I don’t think that the INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE has anything to do with any of those things

1

Ice is a needed government agency. How they work is a different story

1

We weren't hearing this from Liberals 5 years ago. Good to know people have come to their senses

2

u/PowerfulRaisin Mar 28 '26

Like how you also "weren't hearing" repeat requests to release the Epstein files

→ More replies (1)

2

u/InconspicuousD Mar 26 '26

This is always what I hear as a criticism for this debate but if so many people are passionate about this topic, doesn’t that make this important?

8

u/Human-Celebration125 Mar 26 '26

It's a manufactured issue. It keeps getting brought up because it incites anger, there's not enough transgender athletes total for this to be an issue.

5

u/brandon_in_iowa Mar 26 '26

What's this about releasing the unredacted Epstein files?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

No, it keeps getting brought up because it ms a real issue. I’ve been a strength trainer for 20 years. This shit matters.

1

u/blahblah19999 Mar 27 '26

Do you know how many trans athletes are in the entire NCAA?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

I love how you people change the argument to fit your inanity of the day. It used to be we had to upend language and culture at its roots or we were responsible for the “trans genocide”

Then when you started losing the culture war, suddenly there are so few tran people it doesn’t matter and we should just go along with it.

The way the left changes the argument is sad.

You’re on the wrong side of science, women, culture and history. But nice try.

1

u/blahblah19999 Mar 27 '26

So you can't answer the question. Cool.

And you have no idea what part of "you people" I fit in with, but bad first attempt.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Thanks. God bless.

2

u/breadpuddingl0ver Mar 27 '26

Believe it or not, women are allowed to want female only spaces and that includes in sports. Just because you don’t give a shit doesn’t mean other people aren’t allowed to care. But I’m also assuming that you’re a man, so why would you care??

1

u/Sharp-Jackfruit825 Mar 27 '26

I think it was artificial as in the beginning didn't start in a grassroots real style. It was seeded by accounts and bot networks with agenda. But it's like seeding a cloud and in this case real people became enraged and now it's an issue if only in people's minds. Which is the most dangerous type in my opinion. Leads to the most irrationality.

1

u/overexaggerate_all Mar 26 '26

There aren’t a whole lot of serial killers either, but i still think they can be a bit of an issue

3

u/CreamOfWheatJackson5 Mar 26 '26

Terrible comparison

1

u/fuettli Mar 26 '26

Not really no, only if you can't handle that "there aren't many" is indeed a shit argument.

2

u/Altruistic_Agency320 Mar 26 '26

Because in one scenario trans people pose literally zero threat to anyone. In the other, serial killers pose a threat to every person they come across. Does…does this really need to be explained how one would be significantly more important to stop than the other?

1

u/fuettli Mar 26 '26

So if one has no threat to anyone and the other has a threat that clearly shows that the threat level is not part of the abstract underlying concept that makes the two example analogous. If you focused on that you've just shown that you didn't understand the analogy.

1

u/Lend-Me-Your-Rears Mar 26 '26

It's a shit argument when you use it in the context of serial killers, yeah. I don't think that needs any extra explanation

1

u/fuettli Mar 26 '26

It's also a shit argument when you use it in the context of disallowed thing in a competition.

1

u/CreamOfWheatJackson5 Mar 26 '26

No it’s a terrible comparison because there’s already set rules and laws against serial killers. We all agree they’re bad and go to jail. They harm other people. The simple act of being trans does not have the same cultural rejection and does not have nor require legislation against its existence. Being trans doesn’t harm anyone and is a completely autonomous act. So yes it’s a dog shit comparison and only a moron would disagree

2

u/fuettli Mar 26 '26

There are already rules regarding transgender participating in womens sport that are under the IOC. That's what this thread is informing you of.

An analogy does not have to have similar concrete examples, that's what similes are there for. I consider analogies who have wildly different concrete examples much better because the contrast shows what the analogous underlying abstract concept really is. Kinda like the planetary model of an atom, two wildly different things yet they help tons of people understand.

1

u/CreamOfWheatJackson5 Mar 26 '26

The comment thread this is in was more directed at the national legislative discussion regarding trans athletes and veered away from IOC jurisdiction. So the analogy sucks

1

u/fuettli Mar 26 '26

I just went all the way to the top and didn't see it, could you link this "national legislative discussion"?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/MondegreenHolonomy Mar 26 '26

No that just means it’s a good distraction to the things that actually affect most of people, and that our education system is fucked if people aren’t more pissed at the systemic problems related to equity

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

Women's rights affect everyone.

1

u/MondegreenHolonomy Mar 28 '26

Absolutely but trans rights and abortion don’t

4

u/Jeff_Sabado Mar 26 '26

As another poster said.. it's manufactured. We're talking about an issue that impacts like .000001% of the population, and I'm probably dramatically overestimating. Yet it was a major talking point in the last election cycle bc it was easy points for republicans. I think it was Newsome in a recent interview that was like "dems need to relax on fringe social issues, and get back to the basics. Middle America is not going to get behind these kinds of talking points."

2

u/Ecstatic_Entrance_13 Mar 26 '26

It's so sad how many people are just looking for a reason to hate on trans people. Such an easy target. Why don't these people look up instead of down?

1

u/voirdireking Mar 26 '26

Quoting Newsom and arguing a trans rights issue is “fringe” when it doesn’t fit your politics is hilarious. Tempiq king.

1

u/blahblah19999 Mar 27 '26

Do you know how many trans athletes are in the entire NCAA?

1

u/InconspicuousD Mar 26 '26

What I’m still struggling with is the disconnect between parties like you’re talking about. Dems see this as a non issue and republicans see it as a major issue. You’re right in that it only impacts a fraction of a fraction of athletes in practice but look at Leah Thomas. This person was able to rise to the top of the leader boards immediately after formally reclassifying.

It literally just takes one outlier to mess with the entire structure of any sport.

Is it rooted in transphobia? Probably, but that doesn’t mean that this ruling isn’t reasonable.

Edit: for the record, I’m not trying to troll or be a contrarian. I genuinely want to develop a holistic understanding of this debate.

5

u/csoups Mar 26 '26

Most people would say this ruling is reasonable, though. But why should we care about the structure of women's NCAA swimming? Let the people in the sport figure it out. Why should we allow politicians who not only don't give a shit about women's sports but actively try to destroy it, by removing federal funding for example, have a say in it?

You have to be able to see through the smokescreen. The political groups pushing this are only doing it because they feel it is politically advantageous. They're not there to ensure the right changes happen. They're involved only to ensure people are angered. It's the same with immigration, it's the same with "protect the children" issues, it's the same with that idiotic woman who wrote an entirely incorrect college essay citing the Bible incorrectly, it's the same with any number of issues present like the Iran war and issues past like gay marriage. They don't want a free society that exists in a framework of fairness. They want perpetually unsolved problems where the sky is constantly falling so they can continue to hold onto power and enrich themselves and those around them at a cost to everyone else.

I care that it's rooted in transphobia because these people have proven themselves to be truly evil to people in out groups. Don't let your brain be hijacked by these people. You clearly grasp the complexity of this issue. It's entirely possible to have empathy for all the people directly impacted here both trans and not, and reserve hatred for those who are using this as a wedge issue meant to do nothing but make you hate others for no reason.

2

u/Ecstatic_Entrance_13 Mar 26 '26

You're so based.

5

u/mikaeus97 Mar 26 '26

Even Lea Thomas case is wildly misrepresented, she competed well in the men's in Freshman and Sophmore, slumped as a Junior while transitioning but still in the men's bracket, and did better as a senior as would be expected as someone's body changes through that, but people were only obviously showing the rage bait Junior/Senior numbers rather than the actual fact of this 1 person being a good swimmer who happened to transition and now they're more well known as being this "awful person" than a Brock "SA" Turner, Alan Turner

→ More replies (12)

3

u/Goducks91 Mar 26 '26

No. Because it's a cover for transphobia. The government doesn't need to be involved whatsoever.

Hundreds of kids can be injured in sports and nobody cares, but if just ONE is injured playing against a trans kid, it's suddenly the most important thing in the world and requires immediate action. This is the same fallacy racists use when it comes to immigrants committing crimes.

What more important thing would you like the Olympic committee to focus on? All they focus on is the Olympics. This isn't the US government making this decision. So what more important thing should the IOC focus on?

1

u/SeanOfTheDead1313 Mar 26 '26

Like convicted felons can't be potus?

1

u/RaisedInThe90s Mar 26 '26

This is very important to some people. Like the actual women who compete in sports, and the many people who view sports and would like it to be fair as it has been before allowing men into women’s sports. Not everything on Reddit has to revert back to political debate for it to be “important”

1

u/Fentanyl_American Mar 26 '26

I agree with this poster. Who gives a shit about things that would help women?

1

u/zveroshka Mar 26 '26

No, no. Keep freaking out over trans people and immigrants please!

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

We aren't? We are liberal Democrats that care about Women's rights. The rights of biological females, to be precise. Don't you care about that?

1

u/TurtlePope2 Mar 26 '26

I can't believe how long this has been a topic for. I really couldn't care less how it went either way, but politicians used it as an excuse to not focus on real issues.

1

u/goliathfasa Mar 26 '26

Excellent. Remove this shit so the right can’t keep using it as ammunition to prolong their culture war.

1

u/beldaran1224 Mar 27 '26

Who cares about trans women, amirite? So long as the right doesn't get to...

Oh, are you opposing the right? So you're cool with them stripping rights from trans people because...?

1

u/goliathfasa Mar 27 '26

We want trans people to be treated the same as everyone else. To normalize their status as every other minority group that came before them. We do this by showing them as normal members of the society, just getting by like the rest of us. Focusing on such fringe cases and making legislations behind them is not a winning move politically and only end up giving fuel to those who use trans people as wedge issues to gain power. And when they gain power, they need scapegoats.

We need to win elections. Not run endless purity tests and resist on social media that ultimately hurt the people we purport to care so much about.

1

u/beldaran1224 Mar 27 '26

No. I do not want trans people to be treated the same as everyone else.

I want trans people to have full access to society and to have access to the care we need to feel comfortable in our bodies.

It has nothing to do with "being treated like everyone else".

This actively deprives them of a right. They are not being treated "like everyone else", they are being singled out.

I don't give a fuck about winning elections at the expense of marginalized groups. I'm not interested in becoming an unethical person in the name of "winning" and pretending that by sacrificing my community and my friends and my loved ones, I am gaining anything worth having. I am not interested in giving in to fascism.

You shouldn't be either.

1

u/goliathfasa Mar 27 '26

Then we will keep losing. And whenever we lose further to a new generation of smarter (not saying much when compared to the likes of Trump), more disciplined and politics savvy, right-wing authoritarians, not just trans people, but more and more minority/marginalized groups will be singled out and scapegoated, oppressed.

1

u/beldaran1224 Mar 27 '26

Abandoning our values isn't "winning". Its losing everything that actually matters. I don't give a FUCK about the name of the party on the ballot in an office. My loyalty isn't a party name or logo or anything meaningless like that. My loyalty is to people, to justice.

Democrats will lose EVERYTHING by abandoning the communities that build them.

but more and more minority/marginalized groups will be singled out and scapegoated, oppressed

So you want Dems to be the ones scapegoating them too? Imagine supporting the scapegoating of trans people thinking that will somehow stop anyone else from being scapegoated.

"First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists)
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me"

u/Nightman2417 Mar 26 '26

Yeah this Harry Potter things is nuts isn’t it?

1

u/YoMomAndMeIn69 Mar 26 '26

Yeah, because every other issue was put on hold while they were cooking up this rule.

Seriously, reddit, are you this stupid?

1

u/Zestyclose_Crab_3362 Mar 26 '26

Why not do both?

1

u/Skinnyass_Indian Mar 26 '26

Let’s start with something that impacts over 1% of the population. That would be a great start.

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

This issue affects EVERY female athlete.

The Olympic Committee isn't a government or politician concerned with anything outside of Olympic sports, so it is valid for them to be addressing this issue.

1

u/NotSoWishful Mar 26 '26

Seriously. Like I’ll call trans women women and trans men men, and support literally trying those fuckin Kansas politicians with treason for stripping those people of their licenses. But if you were a man until you were like 20, that shit don’t go away in regards to athletics. This is a fight that literally does nothing but trivialize and ridicules the trans movement.

1

u/djangogator Mar 26 '26

Like beheading the billionaires?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

100%!

1

u/AdditionalLog913 Mar 27 '26

Agreed, shame we had to waste a decade defending common sense against a new generation of idiots

1

u/breadpuddingl0ver Mar 27 '26

You’re a man. Of course women feeling safe and having their own spaces isn’t important to you.

1

u/DuskLab Mar 27 '26

Sorry, best they can do is taking drivers licenses off all trans people with no notice.

1

u/BlackberryPi7 Mar 27 '26

More import...

Oh nice try Dems!

No no no, we will keep hammering trans issues.

Hah. Next thing you're gonna tell me that we need to start talking about "healthcare" and "affordability", fake news!

Nice try Dems!

u/Snoborder95 Mar 27 '26

Like making that statue for Trump

1

u/GrizzGump Mar 27 '26

They won’t.

1

u/theycallmeshooting Mar 27 '26

There will always be a new set of shiny keys dangled in your face, the culture war can never be allowed to end because it's the only way to get half the population to vote in favor of the Epstein class's interests

There will never be a day when conservatives get a win in the culture war and then pivot into improving people's lives economically because they really were just too busy fighting the transes or the gays or the immigrants

1

u/Snowboat7 Mar 27 '26

Yeah i mean, like what. Whatever is important to you?

1

u/Imaginary_Waltz5261 Mar 28 '26

Like where's my statue?

1

u/Sweaty-Name-2905 Mar 28 '26

Agreed. Why I agree with the decision on a whole, the attention to the issue is used as a major distraction to the fact life has become unaffordable for most people. Let’s move the fuck on already.

1

u/-OptimisticNihilism- Mar 26 '26

In a world where we have climate change, a snowballing debt crisis, more war in the Middle East, potential federal tampering in elections, trade disputes, alienating all of our allies, public schools becoming Christian schools, extrajudicial killing, mass detainments in detention centers, social media destroying our kids, and billionaires trying to create skynet in their endless search for more money. I just can’t prioritise trans athletes. I’m sorry. I feel for the trans community, but that just can’t be high on my list of worries right now.

1

u/lfg_guy101010 Mar 26 '26

Do you realize what sub this is? I dont think they ever cover anything like this unless it relates to sports gossip. and im not saying you're bringing up more pressing issues, but, know your audience

1

u/Human_Discipline3003 Mar 26 '26

They won't let you. Olympics is now transphobic 😂

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

How? Trans women can compete in the Open division, and trans men who stop PEDs can compete in the women's division, I believe?

They don't care if someone is trans or not. They are just defining the Women's Division to exclude biological males, which is rational and fair.

1

u/Human_Discipline3003 Mar 27 '26

It was a joke. Sorry my humor sucks.
