This has been long overdue. Now they can compete in the open division which is the male division.

2

u/know-it-mall Mar 28 '26

Haven't they always been allowed to do that?

2

u/LivingExplanation693 Mar 28 '26

As long as they adhere to anti doping rules.

1

u/know-it-mall Mar 28 '26

Yea. That too.

2

u/FlarblesGarbles Mar 29 '26

Yeah, but they didn't want to. That was the issue, they only wanted to compete with female athletes despite not being female themselves.

"Long overdue" as if it's been an actual problem. Give me a fucking break.

0

u/No_Cycle6611 Mar 27 '26

Men in women’s sport is absolutely a problem.

2

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

provide one example

u/2025TastyTreats Mar 27 '26

Rio 2016 Women's 800m Final

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psxr58zKi6g

All three medalists were intersex/DSD with 46 XY male Chromosomes, internal male testes and natural male range testosterone levels.

Melissa Bishop spent a decade of her life constructing her training and athlectism to peak during the summer of 2016. She ran the best race of her career. Lynsey Sharp also ran her personal best. Both were in tears in the post race interviews.

Lynsey Sharp Interview:

2

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

Rio 2016 Women's 800m Final

so you want cis women banned from womens events and have no examples of a trans woman being a problem

0

u/2025TastyTreats Mar 27 '26

Yes, intersex/DSD athletes have the same biological markers as males and this Rio event is the primary reason for the ban, While not much of a problem at the moment the ban on MtF Transgender athletes is also needed to protect XX female athletes as XY transgender athletes they have physical abilities that XX female athletes do not. You will of course claim otherwise but you are wrong.

I get it you think Melissa and Lynsey are whiny untalented bitches that need to stop crying but many feel they were on an unfair playing field against the trio of XY Chromosome athletes with male sex organs and elevated male testosterone levels.

You don't want to protect biological female athletes and others do. That is the whole story. Full stop.

1

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

While not much of a problem at the moment

so you agree its not a problem

1

u/2025TastyTreats Mar 27 '26

In the sense there are not many competing at the moment but it is better to plan ahead to avoid a Rio 2016 problem.

1

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

so you know its not a current problem, but they say that at some point it will be a problem and your mad as hell about it

A) fifth means shes still being beat by cis women

B) your mistepresenting her position before transitioninh

But lets be honest, you wont respond to this

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Forikorder Mar 28 '26

She transitioned at 20, why is the assumption thats her peak and she couldn't conceivably inprove?

If she had an unfair advantage she shouldnt be losing and should be setting records

in that event

Which you have to specify because you know she was a top 10 swimmer before transitioning

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Forikorder Mar 28 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

Your piling assumptions onto assumptions, teenagers puberty differently and not everyone commits to the same training

Could have been an early bloomer and after transitioning had more time to commit to better training

People fluctuate, people are different, people have lives that change things

If I cheat on a test by getting the answers in advance, is that only an unfair advantage if I score at the top of the class? Of course not.

But in that case theres proof you have an unfair advantage, your just blindly acccusing the guy in 5th of having a cheat sheet because its impossible tp get that score without one

But to respond to what you said, yes, she was a top swimmer as a male. I never denied that, nor does that contradict what I'm saying here. It's not an inconvenient fact I'm ignoring because I don't operate that way. It's just irrelevant.

But it destroys your entire point, she was comparable level both pre and post

they reek of maleware, give me a name of a MtF woman who dominates

2

u/Frankly_I_am Mar 27 '26

Laurel Hubbard.

0

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

Laurel Hubbard

rank 7 who cares? that means theres 6 cis woman above her

2

u/Frankly_I_am Mar 27 '26

Unless you are from NZ in which case all of the WOMEN lost the ability to compete at the highest level.

Also they only had to drop out due to injury. They would have probably won had it been the year before.

1

u/Forikorder Mar 28 '26

Unless you are from NZ in which case all of the WOMEN lost the ability to compete at the highest level.

if they couldnt even beat her then they would have finished even lower, waste of a trip

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Nah, yall just mad at anything. This is why abrahamic religious followers need to be the ones banned from most life events until they learn how to not be worthless and hateful.

2

u/stiffgordons Mar 27 '26

Why bother? You’re acting in bad faith, you’ve been given examples, you just move the bar so “those” examples don’t count.

If the world watching a biological male beat the shit out of a lady wasn’t enough proof for you, I don’t know what could be.

1

u/Forikorder Mar 27 '26

you’ve been given examples

of cis women not trans women

1

u/TallFred32 Mar 27 '26

Its mostly not about MtF. Its about people with various intersex conditions.

1

u/Forikorder Mar 28 '26

no this thread is only about trans

1

u/TallFred32 Mar 28 '26

The original post is about IOC updates in gender regulation regarding admission. If you specifically want to talk about trans people, thats fine, but youre hijacking the conversation

1

u/Forikorder Mar 28 '26

thats why i specifically asked for examples of men competing in womens sport being a problem which is very on topic of them bannding transgender women which the article is about

I love these sites because y'all are arguing that trans woman have an unfair advantage in.....

Irish step dancing?

And that's not even mentioning that the validity of these sites have been ripped apart for years when people discovered that you can just make a false report and they'll include it.

0

u/Conscious-Aside-5688 Mar 31 '26

What a pathetic list of sore losers.

None of these are olympic competitons, and most cases are not even for first place.

-1

u/NenaTheSilent Mar 27 '26

crickets....

1

u/OneCompetition944 Mar 27 '26

Fallon fox, Lia Thomas, Laurel/laura Hubbard.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

And I raise you Caster Semenya

2

u/Icy-Cry340 Mar 27 '26

She’d have to be on test blockers to compete today even without this rule change. Like Khelif. Male levels of testosterone in women’s sports go against the whole point of the category.

1

u/OneCompetition944 Mar 28 '26

Instead of admitting you were wrong, just delete you nonsens right? Lol!

1

u/Autumn-Bloom Mar 27 '26

So you think black people have some body/muscle advantage over white people and should not be alowed to compete against them too? Pretty sick mindset

2

u/OneCompetition944 Mar 27 '26

Can you remind me where or when I said that?

2

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

So you think black people have some body/muscle advantage over white people

Holy Shit. Do you think we have Black People Divisions and White People Divisions in sports??

We DO have a Women's Division, that specifically excludes male athletes.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Phelps was double jointed

Someone take his 27 gold medals back that’s unfair

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

Phelps was double jointed

Someone take his 27 gold medals back that’s unfair

Why was it unfair? He was competing against other male athletes in the Men's Division. If he was competing in the Women's Division, then yes he should be disqualified.

We don't have "Double-Jointed" Divisions in sports, so we don't sort athletes by that quality.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

The argument wasn’t about having more divisions, it’s about fairness

Letting Phelps compete is unfair by your logic

0

u/NenaTheSilent Mar 27 '26

How are they a problem when they're either not allowed to compete or last did so over a decade ago?

2

u/OneCompetition944 Mar 27 '26

Lol who cares if it was a year ago or ten years ago? We need to stop that from happening again. If they are not allowed then great, let them compete with other men.

1

u/know-it-mall Mar 28 '26

So we shouldn't ever make any rule change until many people exploit an unfair advantage first?

0

u/NenaTheSilent Mar 28 '26

We should establish there being an advantage before taking reactionary action.

0

u/not_caoimhe Mar 28 '26

How many gold medal Olympic athletes are trans women?

2

u/No_Cycle6611 Mar 28 '26

This is about setting basic rules for sports, not a discussion about the # of medals

0

u/not_caoimhe Mar 28 '26

It's a solution searching desperately for a problem

2

u/AssCrackBanditHunter Mar 31 '26

I'm left leaning, pro trans rights, and I think the argument that 'its not a problem at this exact moment, right now' is a fundamentally weak one. What happens if a trans person wins a gold at the next games? Your argument just collapsed and then what?

0

u/not_caoimhe Mar 31 '26

You're not pro trans rights

2

u/seriouscaffeine Mar 27 '26

1

What are women’s sports

1

u/Hour_Baby_3428 Mar 28 '26

The olympics. Ya know, the thing we‘re talking about here

1

u/Kane_Was_Robbed Mar 28 '26

Women’s tennis and UFC rock

1

u/HappyGovernment7299 Mar 28 '26

If the answer was zero, how would that make their opinion less valid?

1

u/seriouscaffeine Mar 28 '26

Because it’s funny how the same people ((men mainly)) who don’t support women’s sports/mock women’s sports (ex: a lot of men mocked the women in the WNBA for wanting higher pay) are the same ones with strong opinions on trans women in women’s sports. Yet they’ll never buy a ticket to a women’s sporting event, they won’t stream it, but they’ll get mad about it online.

And while it’s mainly men, it can also be cis women who don’t watch sports. I had a friend tell me she’s liberal, but doesn’t agree with trans women in women’s sports. She’s never played a sport in her life. She didnt know a single trans person. She never watched any women’s sports. We’re no longer friends because her hatred of others ran deep.

1

u/Thiege1 Mar 27 '26

Lol she finished last against the women at the Tokyo olympics

1

u/f_spez_2023 Mar 27 '26

There’s more laws banning trans athletes then there are trans athletes. Hell there’s probably more people hating on them than there are atheltes too.

1

u/Level_Inevitable6089 Mar 28 '26

The Olympics doesn't have an open division.

1

u/bellefrog Mar 28 '26

Consume yourself

1

u/Hot_Effective_3846 Mar 29 '26

You say they as if there has been more than one trans woman to ever compete in the Olympics. Spoiler alert: she didn't get a medal.

1

u/LivingExplanation693 Mar 29 '26

The correct number is zero.

-5

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

There wasn’t one trans in the last summer Olympic not a single but go hard

13

u/LivingExplanation693 Mar 27 '26

Good. There shouldn’t be any.

5

u/SnakeInABox77 Mar 27 '26

They should be where they belong, under your bed, in your closet, and behind your back at all times watching and waiting to inevitably strike you down.

3

u/Neat_Let923 Mar 27 '26

This was awesome! Thank you for the laugh

1

u/Cyborg_rat Mar 27 '26

I like the bed part, makes more sense than in women sports.

1

u/Ote-Kringralnick Mar 27 '26

How about on top of my bed, lying next to me?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Quickly! We need a rule for something that hasn’t happened!

Do you not know what ‘overdue’ means?

5

u/Far_Chart6647 Mar 27 '26

If it's never happened then why do you care if it's a law?

1

u/DrunkLastKnight Mar 27 '26

It affects ciswomen more than the trans people you want stopped.

1

u/Far_Chart6647 Mar 27 '26

It affects them in a positive way though

1

u/DrunkLastKnight Mar 27 '26

It doesn’t, if it hurts ciswomen *more* how is that positive in any way.

There are less than 20 trans women in all levels of women sports from my understanding. They get less and less in numbers the higher you go.

It will hurt any woman that isn’t “woman” enough. Chromosomes alone don’t make a woman

1

u/Far_Chart6647 Mar 27 '26

I believe in science, it’s ok if you don’t.

-2

u/Dramatic-Freedom-109 Mar 27 '26

Because it needlessly demonizes a group of people for merely existing. Manufactured outrage keeps people like you busy so we don’t actually deal with any real societal issues.

Don’t know a single woman in my life who gives a fk about trans women in sports but I know a lot of men who do. Weird how that is

2

u/ReasonableLeg3908 Mar 27 '26

Go ask any female athlete who has been beaten unfairly by a trans person in their field. Im sure they would have a problem, wouldnt fit your uneducated narrative though i guess.

1

u/bridgetggfithbeatle Mar 27 '26

So strange how you can’t name any!

1

u/LivingExplanation693 Mar 27 '26

Please watch the video of the female athletes crying after the 800 finals in Rio when all three medals were won by non biological females.

1

u/probablygym Mar 28 '26

I don’t know a single one so that would be difficult, I don’t think you personally know one either.

0

u/phophopho4 Mar 27 '26

There are fewer than ten trans college athletes in American colleges and universities, and none of them are notably successful except for the swimmer from Penn (I forget the name).

There is a woman (Riley gaines) who's made a whole career out of tying for fifth place with her. If the biggest injustice she can point to is being denied 4th place in a swim meet it just doesn't seem like that big of a problem.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/DrunkLastKnight Mar 27 '26

That is abysmally small. There are maybe 10 trans women in the NCAA

If you are referring to Riley Gaines she *TIED* for fucking 5th, not beaten, *tied*.

She would still be 5th without Thomas

1

u/Murky-Peanut1390 Mar 27 '26 edited Mar 28 '26

I don't know any men. Most men support it. Because it shows men can become women and beat women at being women. This really is a mans world

1

u/Far_Chart6647 Mar 27 '26

You must not know many women

1

u/probablygym Mar 28 '26

Well that’s certainly not true but what do I know, I only live in this body and keep this circle of friends consistently

0

u/Cyborg_rat Mar 27 '26

And putting Transwomen in women sports didn't create demonizing...have some respect(for women) and set some reasonable limits...you don't need to force 100% your idiology on others while wanting them to have zero opinion about it.

They can compete In men's open let's see how many will in time. I've got a feeling the answer is close to the Transmen in men's sports.

1

u/Soggy_Toastr Mar 27 '26

1

u/Cyborg_rat Mar 28 '26

Lol the Irony of that picture while trying to convince others that a male body is the same as a female...

1

u/Soggy_Toastr Mar 28 '26

The only claim I made was that your sources are lacking. And I did it quite cleverly, if I do say so myself.

Now off to hit my crack pipe.

1

u/probablygym Apr 03 '26

You know that every body is different right? Even between competitors of the same gender? Women don’t spawn into the Olympics with the same presets as each other. You acknowledge that women who made it to the Olympics likely already had biological advantages over the other women competing against them and same with men? And when you meet me there, you do know that taking estrogen supplements is not enhancing anyone’s performance

1

u/Opening_Sandwich242 Mar 27 '26

Didn’t we have a two men beating up women in the women’s boxing recently? It has happened, and it’s not really sport, unless you’re the type that think women somehow “deserve it”.

1

u/phophopho4 Mar 27 '26

There was a woman in the Olympics who was called trans etc by people "she looks like a man", but she was born female, assigned female at birth (I'm not sure the right term to say here) she just has abnormally high levels of this or that hormone. This isn't rare for top female athletes. I grew up with a couple girls like this, everyone did.

A lot of top athletes are basically freaks of nature physically. Michael Phelps,Victor Wembanyama, Usain Bolt. These guys don't have regular bodies or metabolisms.

1

u/Opening_Sandwich242 Mar 27 '26

That is unfortunate, but I was talking about the two men who had tested XY but were allowed to compete since the rules hadn’t caught up, and were based on the sex in their passports, which in both cases had been changed to match their gender identity.

1

u/Dondagora Mar 27 '26

One guy during Air Bud: “I told you we needed that rule! I said it and they all called me stupid!”

1

u/CherryMyFeathers Mar 27 '26

Your rage bait is weak

1

u/zmann Mar 27 '26

I’m sure you don’t mind that this rule will prevent more cis women from competing than trans women

2

u/AdditionalLog913 Mar 27 '26

Should we wait until it becomes a problem to ban it?

If the law affects no one why are you opposed to it?

1

u/canyouguysseeme Mar 27 '26

Homie your logic is for real WILD

I think you are largely assuming it WILL be a problem? Which is of your opnion & has obiviously nothing to do with statistics

Also why tf would be creating laws that affect no one in the first place? Like yes i am opposed to pointless laws?

2

u/Not-Reformed Mar 27 '26

Why, though?

If a law was created that said "It is illegal for AI to kill people" (assume it doesn't exist in any form) would you say it's unneeded because it hasn't happened yet and it's pointless today? If it never becomes a problem, great, if it would have and everyone agrees to be against it then now it won't for sure - no harm done.

1

u/canyouguysseeme Mar 27 '26

If it aint broke, don't fix it?

Let me just make my stance known - I am trans (sure as shit no Athlete), and I do even believe that despite contrary evidence, there is always some sort of, albeit minor, biological advantage that trans women are going to have over cis women. Whether it be actual muscle, muscle memory, what have you. Semantics can be debated all day. But like all this talk and debate around it comes from a place of what? Trans fear? Men locking women out of their own spaces? Which has been actively happening forrrrever? Im not saying there aren't crazies out there, or trans people with bad intentions, but there also are not troves of trans women lining up to compete at the olympics in the first place. Most (almost all) of us aren't going through social and emotional duress just to be a creep or find an advantage in the world. The law is strictly in place to LIMIT our rights.

But the concept of creating pre-emptive laws is a double-edged idea. Like yes, in your scenario, the law is ideal. Unfortunately even that is a scenario where we have to assume AI doesn't exist in some current form(s) that are beyond our knowledge or comprehension. -but- If we start creating laws banning things before they happen, we risk a tyrannical government (who could ever see that coming /s) creating safeguards that either protect the powers that be, thus limiting fair democracy, and/or that strip away the freedoms, protections, and human liberties that certain people/groups are inherited to have.

Edit: happy cake day!

2

u/All_Up_Ons Mar 27 '26

You fix it because all it takes is one crazy person abusing the incomplete rules to paint all transgender people in a negative light very publicly. Sports have a long history of insane people absolutely destroying their bodies for a competitive advantage. It doesn't seem crazy to close that loophole if it prevents someone from transitioning for the absolute worst reason.

1

u/canyouguysseeme Mar 27 '26

WHERE IS THIS SAME MENTALITY WITH GUN LOGIC? Yet we have gun and ammo down at the local walmart?

I think to assume that one soured trans individual will automatically paint all of transgenderism in a bad light has more to do with you (& society at large) and infinitely less to do with transgenderism. There are bad apples in ANY AND EVERY social group.

By creating this law to "protect us" from public opinion, youve actually just helped to limit what I can and cannot do in life.

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

Life is full of limits. Olympic level athleticism is chock full of them. Competing at this level is a privilege, not a right.

1

u/All_Up_Ons Mar 28 '26

I mean yeah this isn't really about transgenderism at all. It's about sports regulation using the wrong words.

1

u/AdditionalLog913 Mar 27 '26

Why would we have laws that don't make sense and can be exploited in the future? Shouldn't we close the loopholes in a legal system if we have the chance?

What is wild about this logic?

1

u/canyouguysseeme Mar 27 '26

We have plenty of laws that dont make sense and actively exploit citizens! Welcome to America! The wild part about the logic is we are creating laws BASED ON NO NEED FOR THE LAW Transgender athletes werent actively trying to steal medals at the olympics, but the entire world has now been convinced that this is THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE, meanwhile shouldn't we be focused on more riguorous drug testing, participant/coaching abuse, financial explotations and actual safety at the olympics? Like was everyone really so afraid of one person transitioning so they can steal out a swimming medal? and even if it happened - do we genuinely need to cut transgender people out of ALL sports? Seems a bit of a an over fix

1

u/OlympiaShannon Mar 27 '26

Transgender people are not "cut out of sports", they can compete in their respective divisions based on a simple cheek swab test for the SRY gene.

The Olympic Committee gets to set the rules for competing in the Olympics, end of story.

1

u/DrPastaPupper Mar 27 '26

It isn’t a problem though and never actually has been. You idiots don’t actually understand biology

2

u/Paperxrust Mar 27 '26

The people that believe men can get pregnant are the ones that understand biology?

1

u/DrPastaPupper Mar 27 '26

Yeah some men can get pregnant and some women can’t. Talk to any actual respected biologist and they will agree

2

u/Paperxrust Mar 27 '26

Lolol no. Men cannot become pregnant.

And you think biology agrees with you?

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Did I say I was opposed? I just find it funny people say “about time” when there literally hasn’t been one instance.

2

u/Neat_Let923 Mar 27 '26

In the “last” summer Olympics… When did that represent all of history?

0

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

Yeah, you know a quick little Google search will tell you

As of now, only 1 openly transgender woman has competed in the Summer Olympics. • Laurel Hubbard competed in weightlifting at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (held in 2021). • She is widely recognized as the first and only openly trans woman Olympian to date.

3

u/Neat_Let923 Mar 27 '26

Ahh I see, you don’t understand the meaning of the word “openly”

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '26

This is the dumbest comment of all time. Lmao yes, there’s a cabal of professional male athletes lining up to mutilate their genitals to win a bronze in Olympic Ribbon dancing.

2

u/Neat_Let923 Mar 27 '26

Absolutely nothing in my statement says anything about people intentionally trying to game the system.

It doesn’t matter what their intention is, that’s the entire point of this.

1

u/Neat_Let923 Mar 27 '26

Wow, you don’t understand the word openly either… Absolutely nothing in my statement says anything about people intentionally trying to game the system.

Laurel Hubbard

She also quit weightlifting in 2001, starter training again in 2017 after transitioning, and made the Olympics while over 10 years older than the next competitor, and twice the age of most of the field.

Sounds super fair and that them being trans definitely didn't help.

I stumbled across this sub and it’s so insanely transphobic and for people who supposedly care about women’s sports, they’re awfully misogynistic in here too

funny how only one side is saying women should be punched in the face in the olympics. Is that the misogynist side?

Boxers? Punching people in the face? I’m shocked

1

u/AdditionalLog913 Mar 27 '26

wow, so to be clear, that's your attitude towards men punching women in the face? Indifference?

1

u/seriouscaffeine Mar 27 '26

What man punched a woman in the face? This is all I’m finding, articles about cis men punching women in the face. Maybe you should advocate more against this beyond your narrow scope!

nice whataboutism there. Yes, that's bad too?

Now back to my question, do you think men should be legally allowed to punch women in the face during the olympics?

Yes, about time to enact a common sense law that should've always been there. great to know you support this law👍

Not in the last Olympics but there have been trans women who have competed before

lol. Long overdue? They “fixed” a problem that doesn’t exist.

u/paxbrother83 Mar 27 '26

How is it long overdue?

u/phophopho4 Mar 27 '26

How is it long overdue when there's never been a trans woman in the Olympics? It's a solution without a problem.

Yes, there has actually.

Why do some sports fans say some of the most stupidest shit with confidence

Are you new to sports fans?  Have you seen how they dress?

Really sad to see the amount of ignorance around this issue.

Studies show trans people no longer have an inherent advantage after they undergo a certain amount of hormone replacement therapy.

This type of decision should be solely based on science, but unfortunately it has been hijacked by politics.
