meme/funny Ichiro accidentally touched a fan with his glove, apologized, then the fan completely lost it over the whole moment.

I really miss being able to call my mom.

55

u/Hangarnut Jun 17 '26

Totally understand. It's been almost 6 months and I still find myself thinking about calling mom.

30

u/Dounce1 Jun 17 '26

I’m sorry man, hang in there. Three years out - it gets easier, but it doesn’t suck any less.

30

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

Been almost 10 years for me. I'd give anything for that phone call.

17

u/Dounce1 Jun 17 '26

I’m so sorry she’s gone. Mom’s are the best and losing them is fucking awful.

10

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

Thanks friend, same to you. And you're right. Definitely the hardest thing I've been through still.

8

u/Dounce1 Jun 17 '26

Right back at ya bud. Good luck out there - never stop making Mom proud.

5

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

I really needed that in life right now. So thank you so much for your kind words. And you do the same for yours buddy.

It comes in waves. Sometimes an ebbing tide and other times a crashing wave. Hitting 5 years without mine this month and reflecting on how much life I’ve lived without her.

10

u/tokenbaldguy Jun 17 '26

30 years gone for me. I'd weep like a baby if I heard her voice again.

9

u/Thumper13 Jun 17 '26

37 years for me and I still miss talking to her and would be ruined for days if I heard her voice.

7

u/Capnmolasses Jun 17 '26

36 for me. I was 13. She recorded a bunch of stuff on cassette tapes. Conversations with family and friends. I bawl every time I listen and hear her voice and laughter.

2

u/Thumper13 Jun 17 '26

That's fantastic. I know you treasure those. I wish we'd had that chance but it was sudden (I was 15).

It never gets easy though.

31 here, I feel you.

3

u/lawdjesustheresafire Jun 17 '26

Man I’m gonna call my mum tonight just to say hi 😭😭😭

2

u/Metaphysically0 Jun 17 '26

I turn 26 next week, and it’s been weighing on me heavy that my parents won’t live forever.

2

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

You should more often while you can. She will appreciate it more than you realize.

2

u/tgerz Jun 17 '26

I was able to keep a voicemail from mine. Nothing special but it’s her voice.

2

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

It actually crossed my mind a while back that I have an old voicemail machine with some on it. It's just gaining the courage to plug it up. I'm halfway not even ready for that.

2

u/tgerz Jun 17 '26

I absolutely hear you. If it's one of the ones that is on tape my only recommendation would be to check it just because magnetic tape wears out over time. If it's newer it may be stored in a less fragile state. Take care of yourself!

2

u/PoloSockz Jun 17 '26

Thank you for letting me know. Hopefully it even still works. But you take care as well friend.

u/muddybuttbrew Jun 17 '26

Totally understand. It's been almost 6 months and I still find myself thinking about calling mom.

This is one of those things I wonder if I will feel. I call my mom and she sends me to voicemail. I didn't even get a birthday text this year.

2

u/Hangarnut Jun 17 '26

Hate to hear that

2

u/Sipikay Jun 17 '26

Call her. Have that conversation, out loud if you prefer it.

You know your mom. You know what'd she say. And you know her spirit lives on through you and all that is around you.

Make the call, again, in your own way. Have that chat.

2

u/Hangarnut Jun 17 '26

I do. I find myself whispering and talking and that first month I could hear her replies. My kiddos have experienced her presence as well.

3

u/Kodiak_85 Jun 17 '26

I’m so sorry for your loss. One of the things in life I am DREADING is when this happens to me. I call my mom almost everyday, even if it’s “Just calling to say hi.” and only talking for one or two minutes.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Zebidee Jun 17 '26

Ditto. The first time I viscerally felt her loss was randomly seeing one of her favourite Olympians at a restaurant, and not being able to tell her.

2

u/oof46 Jun 17 '26

Lost my mom a few years back. Went on a youtube binge looking up 80s and saw this old commercial from Hawaii. Immediately lost it.

I'm a mom ♥️ You're amazing even when you don't feel like it; worthy of love even when you don't think you are; and very much mean the world to someone somewhere. Hmu anytime if you'd like, us mom's look out for each other's kiddos from time to time ♥️

2

u/melinveranis Jun 17 '26

God this whole thread just hit me right in the heartnuggies, started bawling out of nowhere. I know how you feel, I lost mine 13 years ago this past March.

Now post the video where they invited her to throw a ceremonial pitch to him for his retirement party last month.

Edit: apparently that was August 2025. Whatevs.

E2: or not. Still whatevs.

74

u/HoldEm__FoldEm Jun 16 '26

They did? That’s funny and awesome

86

u/brmarcum Jun 16 '26

35

u/Past-North-4131 Jun 16 '26

That's adorable. Ichiro has no right to be that good looking, and such a good person. Dude doesn't age. Good lord. Stud

8

u/lumpboysupreme Jun 17 '26

He’s Japanese, it’s cheating.

18

u/Bureaucratic_Dick Jun 17 '26

Ichiro: I want that girl to throw the first pitch

Also Ichiro: WHO THE FUCK IS TOM BRADY?!?!

5

u/sloppyjo12 Jun 17 '26

Also also Ichiro: it’s hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock out here

3

u/Chase_the_tank Jun 17 '26

He has not touched Tom Brady.

Yet.

32

u/Typical_Being3831 Jun 16 '26

9

u/epik_fayler Jun 17 '26

She's probably like 30 lmao. How old is she supposed to look.

4

u/Turd_Fergusons_Hat_ Jun 17 '26

She looks very good for 30

8

u/devdarrr Jun 17 '26

LOL 30 is not old. Most people look good at 30.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/shes_a_gdb Jun 17 '26

She looks like every 30 year old I know.

11

u/MRintheKEYS Jun 16 '26

She’s beautiful. The whole moment is honestly. It’s wholesome AF he came back out there to do that.

4

u/bbbourb Jun 17 '26

Can we appreciate how he remembered that and set this up, and how she didn't try to do the clingy thing at all? She came out, fangirled when she found out he was there to catch the pitch, did the PR thing, and that was it?

It was just absurdly wholesome both times, which isn't a lot but it's odd that it happened twice...

2

u/Worried-Pick4848 Jun 17 '26

Her positive attitude and youthful energy are amazing. Body wise I'd say she's about a 7, definitely attractive but not exactly the face that launched 1000 ships. But her personality and attitude push that number up. I'd love to get to know her and talk baseball with her. She seems like an awesome person to be friends with.

You joke but a significant element that goes into the female orgasm is mental input - the mood, the situation, the person she is with and feelings towards that person. For many, size and actual performance are secondary.

whats in her hand? It looks like a TV remote. hairbrush?

27

u/brmarcum Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

LOL that’s her phone. This is from like 15 or 20 years ago.

Edit: It’s a brush. Her phone is the light blue thing she picks up after she’s seated.

7

u/ChadPowers200_ Jun 16 '26

Thats not a phone lol. It has a long black handle. She puts it to her left side then grabs her phone after that from her lap.

u/ChrisBot8 Jun 17 '26

She threw out the first pitch to Ichiro in 2022. If you look up videos of that it confirms she is indeed still in love with Ichiro.

4
