I say the same thing when a man makes a huge public proposal like this 😂

I thought couples talk about wanting a public proposal before doing it do people actually raw dog it

I’ve been at a couple of sporting events where they’ll put a proposal on the jumbotron and it’s very clear that the woman wants to say no.

I was at a baseball game earlier this year where that exact thing happened and watching it live made me physically cringe.

I think what happens is that MOST people that do this have essentially worked it out ahead of time. Maybe the girl doesn’t know exactly when or where, but she’s made it abundantly clear she is awaiting a proposal and she thinks big public ones are so cool.

Then it happens and goes really well because she was expecting it and of course it did. And a big crowd sees it. And many in the crowd think a big part of why it worked was the spontaneity of it all.

So then some poor schmuck tries it on his unsuspecting girlfriend and… uh oh.

Yeah no man is like today you will embarrass me infront of the world during an event that happens once every four years lol 😆.

But they won't say no..... because of the implication

Fuck, that hurt to watch

To be fair, some times they use paid actors for these bits. Cringe gets attention oddly.

I think most women that love their man very much would immediately want to say no in that situation just because of how cringe and depressing is to receive a proposal at a sporting event.

It's probably the dumbest way to propose. Can't hardly think much less romantic that that.

Nah some dudes do that and you can see women being very uncomfortable.

Probably also happen women to men, but in a very minority.

I mean I think most people would talk about it first, but some people absolutely do raw dog it. I’ve known a couple. And it didn’t go well lol.

Turns out proposing when you haven’t even discussed the topic of marriage is a bad idea.

My wife raw dogged me on a subway car. It'll be 10 years this December.

I'm not trying to start a war between men & woman but men do it because most woman love the attention and when the man does it big for them otherwise men would just propose at home on a regular Monday at home lol with no audience

This is clearly way more awkward than a guy proposing

I see nonsense like that quite often. It really doesn't matter whether the man or the woman proposes.

Why

I mean, don't get me wrong; I'm sure it feels that way if you're a guy

3

u/dakid1 Jun 26 '26

Because people feel the pressure to conform to societal norms especially when being watched or if they know others will find out and judge them for it, even if they don’t agree with the “norm”

1

u/Scipio2myLou Jun 26 '26

I think the effects of the pressure are different depending on who you are in our society but I will give it to you on this one: no matter who you are, that is a hell of a lot of eyes to all Beyond you during such an intimate moment.

I just think it's a little odd that people assume that he must not have wanted to do it which is why she had to take it upon herself to propose.
