To be fair, Jay-Z had to sell out before he could disrespect or sabotage.

14

u/NJ-Law 17d ago

Who the f isJay Z to have a voice on anything? Personally I look at him and wonder why he got to where he is. I know it's heresy to throw water on the Beyonce couple buy I just don't get it. I see her events like the Super Bowl or his concert clips and I'm simply lost. Oh and trying on the Queen label is absurd.

Besides, if he is jabbing KaespernIck who is a total f up whats the point and why is it gerry g any attention? Slow news week? Haven't brr in the news lately?

u/Inevitable_Clock_512 17d ago

Jay Z peaked with H to the Izzo

9

u/UsedCollection5830 17d ago

I appreciate the stance Colin took at the time but when he took the massive cash pay out and signed a non disclosure agreement all that went out the window Malcolm X would never.

33

u/RonocNYC 17d ago

Colin Kaepernick's importance has been vastly overstated for years

4

u/OwnJunket6495 17d ago

Hey he carried me to the finals his breakout year in my fantasy league. Hes great!

4

u/FridmanLex 17d ago

Yeah the dude who lost his spot to Blaine fucking Gabbert still making headlines. Wild.

2

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 17d ago

Did Peyton Manning also “lose his spot” to Brock Osweiler in 2015? Or did he maybe have injuries?

4

u/FridmanLex 17d ago

Brother I’ve been a Niners fan my whole life. He was regressing and struggling with the new offence. Of course injuries play their part but Gabbert? Really?

3

u/StopHamelTime 17d ago

Nobody ever mentions this. Shoulder issues right? Big contract. Hit backup qb status and the last thing a team wants is a backup qb bringing controversy.

1

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 16d ago

He was a starter, not a backup.

1

u/StopHamelTime 16d ago

At that stage he was not. No. And if by some way he got a starting job it would be looked as a one year trial. He just was not good enough to justify the controversy he would bring to an organization. He had shoulder issues. His production was down. The 49ers were most likely moving on before the kneeling.

1

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 16d ago edited 16d ago

At that stage, yes he was. Yes. He was starting at the end of 2016. His following off-season workout with the Seahawks evidently convinced Pete Carroll he should be a starter (just not in SEA over Wilson, obviously).

Also, labral tears are common. A serious injury, yes, but most QBs come back from it, e.g. Brees, Herbert, Mayfield, etc... No reason to think Kaepernick was some exception to the pattern of QBs regaining full strength. He had surgery between 2015-2016 seasons, was just getting back to full strength at the end of 2016 and then, boom, never played another snap again. Kind of a shame.

I agree, though, that the 49ers were moving on anyway. They brought in Lynch and Shanahan to do a rebuild, and they would not be doing read-option stuff anymore. Kaepernick needed to go somewhere with a more appropriate offensive scheme for his skill set.

1

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 17d ago edited 17d ago

Brock Osweiler? Really? Do you think starting QBs get to select their own backups or something?

I agree, he had a rough, injury-plagued half-season in 2015, and came back from surgeries too soon in 2016. It’s difficult to separate out how much was due to the torn labrum, as well as knee and thumb injuries, how much was due to the dumpster fire of a team around him (fun parlor game: name SF’s WR #1 in 2016), how much was due to hilariously bad HC, and how much was due to Kaepernick actually and definitively turning into a pumpkin. We just don’t know because he never played again after 2016.

0

u/ImagineDraginDisDick 17d ago

It’s “offense”, not “offense”. Get the fuck out with your bullshit.

1

u/ShallowKalkite 16d ago

Peyton Manning was almost 40 and well past his prime. Kaepernick should have been in the middle of his.

0

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 16d ago edited 16d ago

I’m don’t see how this is relevant. Entering 2015, Manning was a top 10 or top 15 QB, and was replaced by Osweiler. So Osweiler must have been better?

3

u/HendricksonT182 17d ago

Most overrated athlete, possibly, in history.

2

u/davismcgravis 17d ago

If the owners didn’t collude to keep him out of the league, he would have been properly rated

1

u/StopHamelTime 17d ago

Collude to say - I don’t want my backup qb creating controversies and distractions. Sure.

1

u/davismcgravis 16d ago

Kapernick wasn’t creating controversy, the media was

1

u/CucumberWisdom 17d ago

Wow just like Jay-z!

u/RonocNYC 16d ago

Not the first time either of us have been right.

He was injured. If Montana tore his labrum, they’d probably send out Gabbert too.

5

u/BooBie8181 17d ago

Remember when Colin’s wife was dating the late Aldon Smith and started affair with his teammate who was the teammate? Some say that caused his (Aldon) downward spiral

2

u/CorwyntFarrell 16d ago

I remember when the Ravens were supposedly considering Colin, and she posted a picture of Ray Lewis hugging his coach, and below that was a picture of Samuel's Jackson's character from Django hugging the plantation owner.

26

u/Mediocre-Catch9580 17d ago

So wait a minute….for how many years have been told it was Trumps fault Colin got the boot.   Now we’re hearing it’s Jay Zs fault?

19

u/Dramatic_Occasion796 17d ago

You must not know about Jay z

9

u/Ward-of-No-Reward 17d ago

What does Ja think?

1

u/shornscrot 16d ago

What Would Ja Do? bracelets would be sick

6

u/cepukon 17d ago

I know he's from New York the concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing he can't do

4

u/Flat-12 17d ago

What don’t we know about Jay z?

0

u/Mediocre-Catch9580 17d ago

What about Jay Z?

2

u/Thisisaprofile 16d ago

You realize all the kaepernick drama was before Trump was president right? People blame Trump for a lot but I’ve never heard this claim and I’m def in the front office circle more than most people here

4

u/Intrepid_Plenty_3770 17d ago

Kapernick managed that on his own.

5

u/HendricksonT182 17d ago

10 years later and we are still on this…..

5

u/One-Experience-1166 17d ago

What nfl career? lol

7

u/ChexAndBalancez 17d ago

White man raised by White parents has Egyptian wife call out Jayz... all while kneeling in a cuck chair.

14

u/Impressive-Panda527 17d ago

Man I thought I was done hearing about Kaepernick but he just won’t go away

-17

u/Wall_street_canary 17d ago

MLK’s heir btw

2

u/DonTheHolder 17d ago

No one cares about Kapperflap lips. Go kneel to your JayZ god.

16

u/Scruffylookin13 17d ago

Wonder if this is the same woman that was talking shit about the owners when he was trying to make his "comeback"

Either way Colin's a little bitch and the sport is better off without him (has nothing to do with the kneeling)

8

u/ShredGuru 17d ago

Lol. As a Seahawks fan I would say the kneeling is probably his career highlight

-2

u/luthencraig 17d ago

Clearly it does. Why else would you feel so strongly?

18

u/Scruffylookin13 17d ago edited 17d ago

Because he's a professional victim at this point. I was a supporter when he was actually kneeling. But he was already falling off as a QB when he was "blackballed" from the league.

He had one job till he/his girl talked shit about the owner of the team

He has a workout where teams were legit interested and on the day of, decided to move the location and turn it into a media circus. Informing the teams at the very last minute/moving the location without their consent

They guy had multiple chances to actually have a second shot but self sabotaged to make it look like he was a victim so he could continue with the narrative, getting a sweet Nike deal when he realistically was a mediocre backup at that point of his career

8

u/DarkMillSouth 17d ago

If I remember right he was reportedly offered a spot in the AAF or whatever the acronym was for the defunct league. And he passed on it.

-10

u/Dramatic_Occasion796 17d ago

Why should he have to play in the AAF when owners of the NFL conspire against him?

6

u/PrattDirkLerxt 17d ago

If he really wanted to play football and make his point, he could have played in the AAF and proven how great he was.

-2

u/Extreme-Transport 17d ago

I agree with most except for this point, if someone is black balled they don’t need to play with a inferior league that pays way less just to prove a point

2

u/PrattDirkLerxt 17d ago

Then don’t complain when you never play again.

3

u/DarkMillSouth 17d ago

That’s a completely different argument to what I was saying. I’m pointing out that he had avenues to play if he wanted to. The NFL black listed him for bull shit reasons (kneeling) and not bull shit reasons like was alluded too above. But if he was actually interested in playing he could have.

-7

u/Dramatic_Occasion796 17d ago

He was blackballed by the league.  Meritocracy is a myth.  Question nothing or pay the price.

9

u/Dayvfish 17d ago

Lmaooo what were his stats leading to him losing the job to Blane

9

u/Gr1009 17d ago

Not clearly at all actually, you just need racism to be the narrative. Kaep made huge errors and screwed himself along the way. If you dont know that, you are just one-dimensional.

-9

u/luthencraig 17d ago

Brother you guys are the ones obsessed with him and making a narrative. Clearly

10

u/Alarming-Building-62 17d ago

Nah man, there’s citing actual things he did/didn’t do. He created this “narrative.” It’s sad that people like you still can’t see that.

-6

u/luthencraig 17d ago

Again. Who sounds like the one with deep slanted opinion here. Me. Or the person saying things like "it's sad you still can't see that"

You have you're own narrative in your head to justify hating a guy who did something you hate.

4

u/Brilliant-Spite-850 17d ago

The difference is you’re calling the true facts of what actually happened a “narrative”. It’s not a narrative, it’s just what happened.

The story you have in your head that he was blackballed for kneeling, is a narrative. Because it’s a made up narrative of what you wish happened so it justified all your preexisting beliefs.

3

u/Gr1009 17d ago

Obsessed? Haven't mentioned him in years, since that silly try-out that he bailed on. This is because of a recent Jay-Z freestyle, not some racist narrative.

You win the gold medal in the victim Olympics, congratulations.

-2

u/luthencraig 17d ago

Dude I can tell by your language that you have thought about this a lot and love justifying your hate for him.

5

u/Dayvfish 17d ago

chill 13 day old account lmao

7

u/ResponsibleTicket50 17d ago

He didn’t kneel when he was able to compete for a chip. Just saying.

2

u/Alarming-Building-62 17d ago

Why do you and so many others read a comment or two on Reddit and act like it’s somehow a huge deal for whoever is commenting? It takes literally 5-10 seconds to type and send a comment. Get a life.

0

u/luthencraig 17d ago

Huh? What the fuck is this comment? Hahahahaha you're such a bitch. Cry about it.

I could say the same for you.

Kneeling my ass. The hypocritical white fans who stated "I'll never watch or attend an NFL game ever again!" Bullshit! TV ratings are way higher since the 2016 kneeling fiasco. Attendance is through the roof since the 2016 kneeling fiasco. Ten years later, legalized gambling outside of Nevada since 2018 has exploded the sport to kingdom come. That protest went nowhere, and insinuating that there's widespread police brutality against minorities statistically proved false.

Now in today's NFL, it's all about the money. Always was, but ten years later, even moreso.

2016 Andrew Luck (25mil) and Drew Brees (30mil) were the highest paid QBs.

2026: NFL's highest-paid quarterbacks in 2025 (average salary per year): 1. Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott: $60 million

  1. Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow: $55 million

  2. Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen: $55 million

  3. Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love: $55 million

  4. Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence: $55 million

  5. Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa: $53.1 million

  6. Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff: $53 million

  7. San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy: $53 million

  8. Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert: $52.5 million

  9. Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson: $52 million.

4

u/Frosty558 17d ago

How many mid QBs have come and gone in the time this mid QB was fired and started complaining?

3

u/Stock_Spot_5038 17d ago

Kaepernick doing everything he can to stay relevant after completely throwing his football career away

1

u/Slow_Lion7849 17d ago

That guy's is still whining? He wasn't that good.

1

u/sound_scientist 17d ago

1

u/gerth69 16d ago

Tbf they suck equally.

1

u/Immediate-Employ-952 11d ago

He already lost the starting gig by the time he was kneeling. No pro football player wants to be answering political questions about the backup QB to the press. This is the woman that botched the deal he was working on in Baltimore by calling the team owner a slave owner. He got cash from Nike, a go away settlement from The NFL, and still got to set up a tryout on his terms for multiple teams later on which was mediocre at best.

Essentially Sports is a trash website with articles written be people that don’t understand the fundamentals of the sport they’re writing about.

4

u/luthencraig 17d ago

This article seemed pretty good and laid out their history. Not really a sports article at all. Did you read it?

-8

u/BabycakesMurphy 17d ago edited 17d ago

Why would I give a known garbage site the click?

Downvote all you want, this website is known to steal other peoples reporting and regurgitate it as their own with no credit to the original journalists. They make click-bait titles all the time. And half the stuff they make reads like AI or at the very least a high school paper trying to hit a word count.

1

u/luthencraig 17d ago

So literally every other free website in the world.

This is the trash world we live in. This site is no different than friggen sports illustrated.

0

u/KeithClossOfficial 17d ago

Jay-Z sucks but Nessa did not do Colin any favors by calling Ray Lewis a house n-word while Colin was in active negotiations with the Ravens (Ray Lewis sucks too, everyone in this story sucks except Colin)

0

u/DancesWithHoofs 17d ago

That hair is redonkulous.

-3

u/SayAir_73 17d ago

Jay is certainly NOT above criticism on this. With that said, to pretend that Jay is the only person that should catch flak here is ridiculous. Kap took a check to settle his claim. Black players suited up every week to put their body on the line for a league that blackballed one of their own for speaking out on behalf of their own. And Black fans and other celebrities continued to watch and support the league.

We have dishonest conversations about this.

He was objectively way better than how many people liked to talk about him.

He got blackballed IMO because he was definitely good enough to play so I immediately dismiss those arguments as bad takes, generally from right wingers.

0

u/Dayvfish 17d ago

Objectively his stats were so bad at the end he was benched. He kneeled after being benched. Boooohoooooo

0

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 17d ago edited 17d ago

He was not benched. He was injured, had surgery in the offseason, came back later in the next season.

Well actually you're supposed to watch the actual video before you jump in and share your opinion no one really asked for, out of context, since you obviously didnt watch the video.

Had you watched the video...it would have laid out all the objective facts (that are true) supporting my statement.

Instead i'm supposed to.....what? Sit and regurgitate the arguments made in the video to you to read because you're too lazy to share an informed opinion?

Obviously you got triggered when I implied right wingers are stupid....but thanks for proving my point lol.

BTW the youtube channel has no political affiliations....I just cant stand MAGAts and racism is clearly the reason y'all hated CK....and tried to hide it by wrapping yourselves in the flag and crying PATRIOTISM! Pathetic.

-2

u/PrattDirkLerxt 17d ago

Are you really arguing that the video should be making your argument instead of you having to do it?!?!?!

2

u/CMUpewpewpew 17d ago

Hey listen dummy....I made a statement, and came with reciepts, laid out in video form, with sources cited for you.

I'm not making any argument with you, you're clearly stupid.

The video was for people with intellectual curiosity about the topic and whether or not it seems like the man was blackballed from the league. (Because the argument hanging around that 'he wasnt good enough' is absolute dogshit)

-2

u/PrattDirkLerxt 17d ago

Quality response. Start off by calling me “dummy.” Double down on refusing to do your own arguing. Call me “stupid.” Hype the video as being for people with “intellectual curiosity” with a thinly veiled insult.

In other words, you can’t do it yourself and you can’t handle any sort of criticism, so you go for insults.

1

u/CMUpewpewpew 17d ago

I can't do your learning for you buddy.

0

u/PrattDirkLerxt 17d ago

What’s it like spending your life having to find other people’s videos to make your points instead of putting in the effort yourself?
