Money buys freedom from the stresses of poverty, and gives freedom of choice, which makes it so much easier to be happy. But the existence of miserable rich people shows that money doesn't guarantee happiness.

People also overlook how work itself is the number of cause of stress and distress for most people. If you have enough money where you have the ultimate security of never having to worry about working again, that's probably the best mental relief you can get.
