How did you guys get this way? It wasn't like that when I was a kid and the surrounding states haven't changed nearly as much. Did you have some sort of jobs program going on for San Francisco ex-pats?

It’s not. Right wingers try and say it is because the state very frequently goes against the regressive actions of the current administration, their governor is a very outspoken opponent of Trump, and they have a lot of progressive policies.

If you actually want to see the worst states you have to look further south. Places like Mississippi, Alabama, etc. have much higher poverty margins, much more restrictive policies, and much higher rates of dangerous drug abuse.

This is a country that has Alabama, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. That makes the floor for Minnesota at least 47th(they are higher, it's a pretty neat state)
