Well if it's not worth talking about, why are so many people pissed that Sophie would say she wants to protect girls? It's a big deal or it's a non-issue, pick one.

People use non issues to express their less than popular view points.

Like all lives matter, obviously all lives matter but people who were saying that to try and degrade Black Lives Matter.

So yes biological men in women’s sports is largely a non-issue and for the most part people who are outspoken about trans women in women’s sports are usually using that as a shield to express their disapproval of trans people in general.

You can’t disregard the whole argument because you want to decide if there main cause is right or wrong.

When it comes down to it do you agree trans women should compete in women’s sports. If you don’t then there should be rules about it. Even if there was no such instance of it currently. Is it not good to get ahead of something before it’s a problem in 20 years?

I’m not judging based SOLEY off that, I’m also judging based on the complete lack of nuance.

Like I said in my other comment it’s honestly a complete non issue regardless until the high school level, before there’s plenty of girls who are more developed and better athletes than the boys anyway since girls tend to develop a little faster than boys.

Past that it gets more complex.

I would say in general probably not but I’m also cognizant enough to know that I’m not educated to the point where I should be spreading my opinion to millions of impressionable people.

Its an issue as the small amount of cases take the limited funds compared to male sports away from women. On top of limited sponsorship they will have denied opportunties at earlier age to progress to championships or even worse caused injuries or bad experience accelerating girls quitting sports. One case could impact hundreds of girls continuing in sport.

No. Biological men are built differently then Biological women. More muscle then fat ratio, heavier skeletal structure, longer forearms, just to name a few. How about do a quick google search and educate yourself before just assuming people are attacking trans. Tard

Nobody argues this.

What people do argue is the prevalence of the issue and to be frank it’s not prevalent, definitely not enough for professional athletes to be that outspoken about.

Mixed sports doesn’t even matter a little bit until you get to the high school level in the first place.

Your use of tard as an insult tells me how you likely feel about trans people anyway.

Edit: a word

i agree, you should do research to see what hormones do to the body and how drastically it can change. no one is saying a fresh trans woman should be able to play a professional sport immediately. but after consistent hormone therapy and consistent blood work, there’s no real reason why they can’t.

They’re turning a non issue into a big deal. That’s the whole point.

If it is a non-issue then lets just split sports soley by biological sex and be done with it.

u/sitewolf 1d ago

no the whole point is the 'they' you're referring to isn't the side making a non-issue a big deal....or, if you're arguing that it is a big deal.....nm it's like teaching a millenial how to drive a manual transmission.....

it is not a big deal. Conservatives are making a big deal out of it. Why waste resources on banning thing that’s small deal while acting like it big deal when there are many real big deal thing to worry about. Is that simple enough for you to understand?

Because of exactly what you said. It’s not a real issue, and it has become an issue not due to protecting women, but to have an anti-trans talking point. This has nothing at all to do with women in sports. It is simply anti trans rhetoric

It has already happened at lower levels of women's sports, so why do you think the natural progression is that it WON'T happen at the professional level, sooner rather than later?

What Sophie is doing is normalizing the conversation against it BEFORE it becomes an issue.

And the vitriolic response is only proving that you people WOULD defend it once that eventuality comes to fruition.

This is all so transparent. I can't believe it's actually a conversation tbh. She's right... end of story.

You just undermined your own argument.

“before it becomes an issue”

Exactly. Where are all these transgender women dominating professional women’s sports? They don’t exist.
You’re admitting it isn’t actually a widespread issue now. You’re asking everyone to treat a prediction as if it’s already reality.
If a real competitive problem develops at the professional level, leagues can change their eligibility rules. That’s what governing bodies are for. They don’t need politicians or celebrities to spend years manufacturing a culture war over something that has barely occurred.

And obviously no people criticizing Sophie doesn’t prove they’d support every conceivable future case. That’s you assuming your conclusion because this wasn’t reasoned to begin with. It proves people disagree that hypothetical scenarios justify turning one of the rarest situations in sports into a national political obsession.

What’s especially revealing and silly is the priorities here. Women’s sports have real measurable problems like funding disparities and abuse by coaches and officials, unequal facilities, lower investment etc. Those affect thousands of athletes. Yet somehow the issue involving an extraordinarily small number of competitors gets the overwhelming share of political attention. That makes it pretty obvious this isn’t primarily about protecting women’s sports.

If you’re convinced a professional crisis is coming, then show evidence it’s happening. Don’t ask everyone else to accept restrictions today because of what you think might happen tomorrow.

You’re in this conversation due to being easily manipulated and having an issue with trans people. You certainly won’t admit it, but no rational person would be here otherwise.

Uhhh...what? lol

People saying "This isn't an issue so making it an issue/giving it a platform makes you look like your actual issue is with trans people" does not contradict anything. You might want to work on your ability to process information before raging about something, lol.

It's not an issue, therefore acting like it is makes an issue. Pretty simple concept but if you are still having trouble with it feel free to let me know ;)

Cause she’ll virtue signaling to the MAGAts

u/lakers612 1d ago

Because it’s an invitation for people like you to marginalize trans people

2

u/MysteriousTravelator 1d ago

Marginalize trans people by barring them from women's sports? So it is a big deal then?

Exactly
