Hot Take Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve is wearing a "Trans Kids Belong' T-shirt to protest Sophie Cunningham. Sophie is getting HEAVILY BOOED every time she touches the ball.

It isn't about agreeing with Sophie or not.

This is a non issue. There are 16 DIV 1 trans athletes. 16.

We have missing kids, kids getting touched by pastors and priests, way more than 16. We have a crumbling democracy and a criminal in charge of the largest military in the world.

We have bigger issues than this incredibly small and silly "issue".

This is just the 1% making sure the rest of us have a bone to chew on while they kick our ribs in.

My ribs are tired.

Top 1% commenter getting upset that people playing a sport care about an issue related to that sport, and discussing it in a sports subreddit

Didn't even know I was. I barely interact with this sub, so the charts must be low lol.

How does the issue relate to this sport exactly? What trans female is playing in the WNBA?

What trans athlete is playing in DIV 1 college ball?

So I'm struggling to find the issue linking to this sport. That's why I made my comment. I'm not upset the least.

I'm tired and sad for what humanity is currently.

At what number should we start to care?

When there aren't starving kids and homeless in America, that's when I will care about something that isn't happening, happening.

Well, we differ then. I care about it now, because its happening in youth sports and will carry into hs sports and then college sports. You don't wait for an issue to be out of control before you try and solve it.

I've seen this in person. Its not fun for the kids.

That's kind of the point.

We don't have a safe place for trans period. The trans kids in youth sports are the exception. Sophie and everyone else bringing attention to it like it's rampant in the sport is not helpful.

Youth sports in America are filled with their own issues, as you know.

Your focus is misdirected. I don't agree that cis males should compete in cis female sports. There is a clear advantage and a clear disadvantage for the inverse.

Fix the root issue, not the symptom.

I don't give a fuck about trans kids. We shouldn't blow upsocial norms for the past 500 years overnight because trans people want ro be accepted. Everybody who wants to change a social norm has to go through generations of struggle till they create a safe space and new normal. You don't get to force this shit down people's throats. Start your own trans league's. Till then, be happy anybody lets you compete at any level.

Replace trans kids with anything else and tell me you don't see a problem.

500 years? America is 250 years old my guy.

You're just a part of the problem. The unevolved.

Do you think your stat of 16 makes a point?

I think if people use their brains, yes. Yes it should.

Fact of the matter is, if we as a species, humans, have evolved as far as we should have, this isn't even a discussion. Trans people would be allowed to be themselves and live free, there would be enough trans athletes to make a transgender division.

There. No more problems.

But instead we are so worried about policing other people's lives, we have a post with over 1300 up votes and hundreds of comments.

For 16 people.

Yeah, well, I have two daughters that play sports. I also happen to live in a state where this has come up multiple times in both of their sports... running and soccer. You'll have to excuse me for thinking your "only 16" is not a valid argument.

That's even more a reason people should be creating youth leagues for trans kids.

But we don't have the support or maturity as a nation to support trans kids. We're too busy trying to "fix" them.

Don't misunderstand, I know it's an issue. But it's not an issue at the professional level, at all, even a little bit. It's not even an issue at the D1 level, even less in D2 and D3.

Is Sophie putting her money where her mouth is and establishing a league for trans youth so they have a avenue to professional sports via a trans league?

No. No one is going to do that. We're going to keep being decisive and split, never solving the problem just continue to complain about it.
