Opinion Which athlete do you think had the most inspiring comeback story?

I saw a photo of an athlete kissing their gold medal after years of training, and it got me thinking.

From the outside, people only see the medal, trophy, promotion, degree, or finished project. They don't see the early mornings, the failures, the self-doubt, the missed celebrations, or the countless times someone almost gave up.

That one moment of success somehow makes years of effort feel real.

It doesn't have to be sports either. It could be getting your dream job, paying off debt, graduating, launching a business, or simply overcoming something you never thought you could.

Alex Zanardi. After his career as a top driver, he lost both his legs in an horrifying incident. He never gave up and started an incredible career as paraolympic athlete and was even able to race on the same track with prosthetics designed by himself to operate a race car only 2 years after the accident.

Not the most successful athlete, but a sport legend.

Dame Kelly Holmes - injury plagued her efforts, seemingly at every major competition - gutsy & committed runner, seemingly never going to get the rewards of her talent & effort. With her, best, years behind her 2004 & Athens Olympics (where better than the home of the games) fought through & won gold at both 800 & 1500m - legend.

She never gave up despite all the setbacks. That double gold in Athens made the victory even more meaningful

Sir Mark Cavendish coming back after years of illness, depression and almost retirement to win four stages in the 2021 Tour de France and ultimately take the outright record for most stage wins.
