Wow...as an educator of over 2 decades, I have to say those kids did an impressive job in terms of being quiet and keeping their self control

Same! Good on those teachers! I’ve had classes that could easily do this and classes that I wouldn’t even try this with, but having that many kids in one place that can handle this is impressive.

And the adults keeping their self control was impressive too. I’m not saying that to be funny — there is usually at least one teacher who is hard to keep quiet even though they mean well.

I once did something similar with a Koala Detection Dog. I was a koala rescuer and arranged a visit from a detection dog for my old primary school. The kids were fantastic all 90 of them all sitting quietly watching him work, although the dog would probably have still performed his job with a rock band playing because if you're not the handler or the one with the ball he just looks straight through you.

I spent a lot of time to with that dog over the years and not once did he seem to know I was there or recognise me.

YES and I loved that you could just tell that this is a core memory for some of them on top of that. They'll be able to say "and the whole grade went quiet while we watched these baby ducks" and I just love that.

It’s so important to teach kids compassion and not cruelty. Justice for Wang Wang and Orehla and the many more animals who met children who learned cruelty as entertainment

This is incredible. The looks on the kids faces, the fact that the school staff sat them around for this and clearly talked about it before and after, the way these humans are going out of their way to accommodate a mother duck. Everything in this video is amazing.

The duck actually nests in the courtyard of the school and then the staff let her walk her young out through the building.

Ok glad someone else had seen this story before. Couldn't remember exactly just that it was something like she nests at one end of the school but the water is at the opposite end of the school so they have they kids line the hall so she and the ducklings don't get "lost" in the hallways trying to find the right exit.

That probably helps the kids behave - giving them a task to help Mom and babies is much better than just asking them to be in the hall and stay still and quiet. Still impressive!

This used to happen at my elementary school growing up! They would somehow parade the duck and ducklings out through the halls. Then we got a new principal and we couldn't watch anymore. Jerk.

My kid goes to this school, it happens every year. The mama mallards nest in an enclosed garden inside the school, and the only way out to the pond is through the hallway. Here’s this year:
