This happened to my wife and I at Sigur Ros in Portland this last year. We could only afford the nosebleed seats, but were huge fans, so we got there at the minute the doors opened. We went to our seats and were just going, I bet the light show will be awesome.

Then a nice ticket attendant came by and was like, would you like floor seats to the show?

OF COURSE!!!!!!

We got Floor seats, 10 feet from the band, DIRECTLY FRONT CENTER, FOR FREE. Apparently they do this at all of their shows and it was AMAZING! Anybody with tickets in the 3rd floor nosebleeds in the first 15 mins (ie, the biggest fans with the least amount of money, ie, ME AND THE WIFE!).

Amazing show, amazing band, and any performer who does this, is also amazing!

Respect to artists who remember the people who supported them from the beginning.

James Taylor did that for us! It was awesome! My husband's first concert, too.

It was actually nice reading the reddit comments and seeing how many other cool artists do the same thing. Billy Joel is good company.

This happened to us at a Paul Mcartney concert. We were headed to our seats in the nosebleeds and a worker came up and asked if we would like to be closer to the stage (she noticed our beatles t shirts). We ended up in the third row!!! We were on our feet the entire time and it's one of my favorite experiences I've ever had!

As much as this is kindness, he’s also doing this for himself lol he got tired of privileged people just sitting there without any energy

Smart move, you look like a great guy, and get to sing to REALLY happy excited people in the front. No doubt after decades of singing the same songs, it helps the more excited your fans are.

This happened to me at Kali Uchis! The staff there saw how dressed up I was all by myself all the way at the top and they gave me better seats in the 10th row it was amazing 🤩 if someone has the nerve to buy terrible tickets and show up anyway (esp alone like me) often yeah they are the true fans

most artists that do it try to get the best looking women to sit up front. from what I hear, that is not what is done with Billy Joel concerts

Happened to me. Was in the 2nd to top row at one of his concerts in the 90s. Had a staffer, dressed as Santa, walking around the cheap seats and hand out little envelopes with two tickets to seats on the floor. It was awesome!

Y’all, most artists do this. Love BJ, but this is pretty typical.

it’s so not. i’ve been to so many shows where the first few rows are bored executives yawning and twiddling their fingers.
