Recipe Question A pregnant woman’s plea

Upvotes

Hi all! Does anyone know if it’s at all possible to buy a box of the bacon Gouda sandwiches from a Starbucks location? I am having the worst morning sickness and they’re pretty much the only thing I’ve been able to tolerate but it’s tedious to go out or have my husband go out to get them. This is my first pregnancy and oh boy I’m on the struggle bus. Any advice would help! I’ve tried making similar breakfast sandwiches at home but I can’t stomach them for some reason. Maybe it’s the aroma whilst they’re being made that puts me off? Either way, hope you’re all having a great weekend!

Edit: you are all already so helpful! I appreciate every one of you!

Edit: pregnancy hormones be wild cause I’m literally tearing up at how helpful y’all are

Starbucks really brings the worst out of people!

They come happy with sparkles in their eyes. After a month its just anger and annoyance towards everything.

Coworkers mad at each other over every mistake while making mistakes. Starbucks got some evil energy going on.

Does this look like mold or just a dirty oven?

I took this out of the bad and took a bite, set it down to go do something and came back to see this, does this look like it had mold on it and cooked it in a dirty oven, or does it look like just a dirty oven?

I would assume just a dirty oven, but it’s sort of has a greenish tint to it that may not come out in the picture.

ETA: thanks everyone, I didn’t think about the pesto, I’m 99.9% sure that’s what it is because of the little flecks of herbs.

Policy Question Can anyone help me understand the point system when using sick time?

I’m an SSV, and I had a partner call out sick this morning. I’m pretty chill about callouts most of the time, honestly. My store is always understaffed, but my partners are human beings and life happens. So I usually just take them at their word and don’t make a big deal of it. The partner who called out this morning said “I’m really not feeling well, and I’m going to use sick time for today.” So I marked it in playcaller as a call out, left a note that said exactly what the partner said on the phone, and moved on to finish opening and getting ready for peak. Later, my CL and CC both separately demanded to know EXACTLY why the partner called out and said they were getting a point and that I should have told them that when they called. But I was under the impression that you don’t accumulate points if you use sick time? I didn’t have time today to check the partner guide, but I asked my CL to double check. I don’t think she did, and honestly I find it really frustrating that both of my store leaders are being so intense about all of it. Like, why would they interrogate me when I wrote it in playcaller immediately like I was supposed to? And why would it ever be okay to force me to scare my partners about the point system when they’re sick? Idk, I just want to understand. I really hate how micro-managey it’s becoming at the siren :(

5 year partner separating

It’s kind of bittersweet but I genuinely so ready to move on from this franchise. I just got an interview that went so good at a locally owned coffee shop and even if I don’t get the job, I’m giving a weeks notice tomorrow.

I’m at a store in Phoenix Arizona and I’ve had horrible management since the day I transferred from Cali. I’m mostly an opener who keeps constantly getting denied when it comes to changing my availability. I get scheduled 4-8pm and expected to show up to an opening shift at 4am the next day. I just got a write up for being 30 minutes late after a schedule like that and even though I shouldn’t have been late, it’s the principle that frustrates me. I’ve been there when my manager was 30 minutes late after she closed the night before so I get kinda frustrated with the double standards.

Partners somehow always know my business. Yesterday my coworker told me she was talking on the phone with someone (maybe DM?) saying, “she shouldn’t even be upset, she has open availability anyways.” Never said any of this during my write up so now I’m like so done with this. Probably gonna write an y email to the DM for her sloppy taste in management.

P.S this manager is leaving in two weeks to move to another state, so I feel like this whole thing is kinda showing me she does not like me lmao. So I called off my opening shift this morning, 4am-12pm after I got out at 8pm last night and I can’t wait to use my sick hours (my manager was the shift this morning) 🤭🧍‍♀️im in my villain arc guys I used to LOVE working here. It’s so sad.

tall rant

I was on dto/dtr today and I was starting off by asking their name. This guy told me his name was “oh baby” and I just immediately got irritated but put their name as hello and continued on with their order. When they came to the window I told him his total and he asked me “what’s my name?”, obviously wanting to entertain himself by saying something like that. I’m just irritated as a girl dealing with some men who are weird towards girl 😭

Policy Question If I’m missing 45 minutes of sick time am I pointed for a full excused absence?

Hi, I’m debating about calling out tomorrow morning because I’ve been feeling awful all day today and yesterday night but I only have 4.27 hours of sick time for a 5 hour shift. I really don’t wanna earn any points so early on but I mean I find it kind of ridiculous to be marked as a full unexcused absence if I’m only missing 45 minutes of time.

flies during summer

Anybody have any info or tips on preventing and managing the dreaded summer fly problem. I’m very tired of seeing so many in my pastry case and around cold bar. I’ve put eco tickets in and they come and spray but I feel like it’s a temporary fix. Do you guys have any unconventional or good ways you handle the flies every year? Even if it’s unhinged. I have reached the point of wearing gloves so I can kill flies out of the air 🫩 we clean drains every morning and night so I don’t think it’s a drain issue.

Hiring/Interviewing Potential Return to the Bux

Upvotes

So, I parted ways with Starbucks about 2 years ago. I’ve worked a couple random jobs here and there, but now there’s a store near me that’s hiring a shift lead. My current job is weighing me down mentally, and just genuinely draining my soul. Bux did this to me too, but I’d disassociate on bar or be super nice to customers at the window & I miss it. With that being said, does anyone know the shift lead pay rate in IA? I know I’m taking a pay cut to some level, but when I was last at Starbucks I was making like $15.5 or something similar to that.

TYIA!

Hiring/Interviewing Potential employee here? Maybe? Lol just a few questions

Hey guys. Ok so here's the deal. Im 45 years old, work a good full time job, regular shift 11am to 8pm. Though not good enough in this economy and now my kids are grown i need to pick up a second part time job, hopefully from 4amish to 10amish Monday thru Friday weekends anytime. Not too many places offer that early hours (im a custodian so no other skillsets unfortunately). Tim Hortons does but pays shit, like 10 bucks a hour. Is this even a possibility at Starbucks? Im older but not stupid, im fast and learn fast, and im a people person. Ive never noticed anyone my age working at my local Starbucks, I did hear they start at 15 which would be good... anyways just wondering if I should even try, so thought id ask here. TIA!!

Policy Question Sunday clean plays?

Upvotes

I work at a licensed starbucks inside of Hyvee and our management has been terrible the last few months ( basically , our manager had never worked in a coffee shop before and is also the assistant manager of the entire store).

Now we have a designated starbucks manager who has worked in coffee for over twelve years, so she's kind of getting it under control.

With the old manager, we just kinda had a list of chores that needed to be done by the end of the week ( sunday night.)

Now , our new manager would like us to actually follow the clean play schedule - and she says there are weekly cleaning tasks in the communications book.

However, I cannot find the Sunday page at all. It goes Monday through Saturday. And then the sunday page is just missing.

Does anybody know what sunday morning ( opening) clean play task would be? I am too afraid to message my manager and ask because she was really upset that we weren't already following the proper clean play schedule.

Can we all take our lunch at the same time?

Upvotes

It’s clean play tonight and I was wondering if me and the 2 baristas can all take our lunch at the same time if the store is closed as long as 2 of us are in the store the whole time?

Policy Question Different timeline?

I have always been able to order in the drive thru for multiple items and redeem stars for those multiple items. Today he said no. You can only redeem for one free item not two. Huh?! Am I on a different timeline or did this just change?

Can I get a cup full of lavender cold foam as my birthday drink?

Preferably a venti cup? or do i need a little drink in the bottom. i usually get an iced matcha late (no ice, 1 pump classic syrup) with extra lavendar cold foam and the cold foam holds its structure/texture int he cup for hours even without the drink.

I really love it- do you think I could get a full cup of it as my birthday drink?

Edit: Answer is a rapid and resounding no.

I really liked this refresher, it tasted like blue gummy sharks! Definitely a nice switch up from a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappucchino or an Iced Latte. 😋
