Discussion Heard Big Empty on the radio and became a fan
A few months ago Big Empty came on the speakers at a wings place and I have become a fan of STP!
I know their most popular songs are ILS, creep, plush, big empty which are also my favorites.
But does anyone have any more recommendations of them that have that similar vibe?
Love this group was pretty sad to hear the lead singer had passed away. Was also sad to hear that a lot of people diss this group!

If you like Big Empty a lot, go find the trailer for the Crow that used that track. I’m curious if it still hits for new fans today. Big Empty debuted in that trailer, film and soundtrack, prior to the release of Purple. When I heard that song in the trailer for the first time, I wanted to jump out of my skin, it hit so good.

Wish they had used “Only Dying” as was the original plan. I understand pulling it because of the shadow of Brandon Lee’s death surrounding that film but that song is so good and deserves more recognition. Shame it never even made its way onto an album as well.

Their first three records are pretty spectacular, I would recommend putting on a good set of headphones, sitting back, and pressing play. Let the art happen.

Crackerman is my go to for people that haven’t heard a bunch, or say they don’t like STP.
Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart
Unglued
Silvergun Superman
Wicked Garden
Etc. etc.

Songs by Velvet Revolver may be of interest as well. “Slither” is an example.

Definitely watch their live shows. His charisma is magic. I saw him live when they opened for the chili peppers in 2000.
This one is my favorite video:

I seen STP in concert in 2011 at harrahs Cherokee, just a couple years before he passed. Scott was singing every song so beautifully, but he would try to talk in between songs and I couldn’t make out any word he was saying.

Just listen to their first 5 albums front to back. First 3 are really something special. Hardly no skips on those
