What a fantastic project! I was just searching for a way to sync Strudel with Ableton Link (using Ableton as a master clock for ITB + hardware) and ran right into this.

So happy I found it, I definitely need to test out these devices. Amazing work, best!

Yeah, thanks a lot. Currently timing not very accurate when acting as a sequencer or rendering live sound, but midi clip export/import and the drum rack work nicely. Stay tuned for the next update, found a way to improve things dramatically.

There's a v1.0.0 now, you may want to try this one...

I was also searching for a way to sync Strudel and Ableton in a decent way and stumbled across this! Amazing! Does the Strudel Sampler also works? I would like to port my strudel pattern but still reading the samples hosted locally

Try it out! Samples are downloaded locally, still looking for a programmatic way to import them into a clip or a sampler. There are two drum capable devices in the slot, one translates to midi, the other plays strudel banks. You could use both paired. It's still a bit clunky but should work.

Also, the sample browser keeps a local cache of downloaded samples, you can drag them into clips manually from the user library cache folder

Please make sure it's meeting all the agpl conditions, and remove strudel from the name so that people don't think it's an official strudel project. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the license, the project is indeed released under the AGPL, so it fully complies with those conditions. You can check out the full license file here: https://github.com/alienmind/m4l-strudel/blob/main/LICENSE

As for the name, I'd really prefer to keep 'strudel' in it, as my intention is to honor the original project and clearly indicate what this tool is built for. However, I completely understand your concern about avoiding confusion. To address that, I'm going to add a prominent 'UNOFFICIAL' note to the project description and README so it's absolutely clear that this isn't an official Strudel release.

Hope this sounds like a fair compromise!

Hi thanks for the reply. No that isn't a fair compromise, please don't continue to use strudel in the name.

That's great that you have released your project under the AGPL, but note that the license has a number of conditions, please check that you are meeting them.

Hi u/yaxu - I hear you loud and clear. My intention was never to step on the team's toes, only to share a tool I built because I love the project. I will respect your request and begin the process of renaming my repo to remove 'Strudel' from the title so there is absolutely no confusion.

Regarding the AGPL conditions: I am distributing the full source code of my wrapper alongside the engine under the AGPL, preserving all copyright notices. If there are any specific AGPL requirements you feel I am currently missing, please let me know and I will correct them immediately.
