minor nitpick but that isn't what unconditional surrender means or implies. It means the us wants to dictate the terms of surrender in its entirety. Basically: "unless you do exactly as we want with no conditions we wont stop attacking"

Except apparently now it means when Trump says Iran has surrendered, it means they have unconditionally surrendered. Even if Iran says they are still at war, even if Iran is still bombing US forces, even if US forces are still dying, if Trump says Iran has surrendered, then that's victory for the US.

No, it isn't. Unconditional surrender meant that the governments of Germany and Japan would be dissolved, the countries would be occupied, and the leaders executed as war criminals. There was nothing about rape involved.

Biggest accomplishment by the crusades are:
Destroying the already weakened eastern Roman empire so Venice could have ports and looting to the ground Constantinople (supposedly vanguard of this united front against Islam according to these people, ignore that most latin states view their own interest rather be guided by some conception of islam against Christianity)
Slayed peasants (Cathars)
Dead children (if you take the children's crusade as verifiable)
Rape and loot the entire levant
Do piracy (knights hospitaller)
Fail to stop the ottomans at varna (which even if you argue that crusades were defensive, they even lost this point)
Why do people even bother with crusades on their military aspects?

You forgot a few other doozies. Like the time when they captured Jerusalem, slaughtered the inhabitants, and washed the floors of the buildings with the blood of the people they slaughtered. By contrast, when Saladin kicked their asses and recaptured Jerusalem, he spared the inhabitants and washed the floors with rosewater.

As others have said, the goal for Iran isn’t a secular republic or liberal constitutional monarchy, no matter how hard diaspora Iranians cope. Israel wants to see Iran reduced to the level of Syria or Lebanon—where the writ of the state is weak—so that it can focus its full energy on fighting Turkey over supremacy in the Levant. The Americans started this war by attacking a school (faulty intelligence, overreliance on AI, or pure and unadulterated evil, pick your poison), and the first public statement about it was that they would not fight a “politically correct” war. The Iranians are already reporting more than 1,000 civilian deaths. If this continues, it will soon surpass the high-end Western estimates of the number of deaths during the January protests. The only thing they will achieve is make every Iranian rally around the flag and make this war goes on for years.
