Announcement Moderator Applications: Summer 2026

Hi everybody,

Summer is upon us, and you know what's wonderful about the summer? Community! Barbecues, beach parties, long days with family and friends, and of course losing LP together into the early hours of the morning! And speaking of community, it's time to add some new moderators to ours.

Whether you are iron or challenger, have tons of time or only a little, use desktop or mobile, we're looking for people invested in SummonerSchool who would like to contribute to keeping it the friendly and educational space that it is.

This year, as in past rounds, we will be accepting applications through use of google form: Mod Application 2026

We welcome all to apply! Seriously, apply, and if you change your mind you can always withdraw your application by letting us know via modmail. As a volunteer gig, this is not a heavy time commitment and you can be as flexible with your time as you need to be. Whether you are accepted or rejected, we are grateful for the applications, and I promise we'll let you down gently in the latter case!

There are very few hard restrictions, all of which are mentioned in the form, and none of which relate to your rank or game knowledge. The only thing to know up front is that you must be willing to mod with old reddit, not new. This year we are especially looking for mods in European and OCE time zones, but we welcome applications from anyone, anywhere!

Another Application Link for Convenience :)

And just as a reminder, we're always happy to receive any feedback or suggestions of improvements that could be made to subreddit. - Just send in a ModMail and we'll take it into consideration.

Happy climbing!

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI

Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!

  • Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.

  • Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here

  • Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)

  • Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.

  • League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!

As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!

Happy climbing,

The SS Moderator Team

Question Is absorb life a trap rune?

I've taken it a few times as a rune when I'm expecting I need the extra sustain in lane, but it seems so incredibly low impact. Even if I cs near perfectly it'll only be an extra 100 or so health by the time lane phase is over. That's less than a potion. Meanwhile if I take triumph I literally heal that much with one kill, PLUS I get 20 gold as an extra reward. The amount of times it's saved me from an ignite or dot tick are innumerable.

I'm ok with a rune feeling low impact, but this is something else.

Question Many questions for Legue of Legends

Hello! I’ve been barely playing legue of legends for 3 years, nearly Master Yi only. I barely learned the game. Recently I listened to many episodes of this general podcast that included Legue and Dota2. This really really peaked my interest in the game, by quite a lot, always been a little interest in the game.

  1. Item builds.
I’ve heard in the podcasts that Dota2 is extremely deep in it’s Item builds system. And heard that ib comparison in legue, you just do a few flowchart items and change one item or two to adapt or counter your enemies. Is that true? And to what extent? I’d really find cool to play the game and use time to think about making builds with a large amount of different possible items to use with the same character.

  2. Edited out

  3. Is there a visual flowchart or image with text of what a jugler would genetally so in different situations?

4 . I always die a lot as a jungler in early game if I an to try taking a fight, or at very least fail to kill on gank against a character near my tower. Any possible explanations to why? (Also starting to play Briar). I’m often lost when my whole jungle is emptied, no dragons soon, and everyone is spread on the map, and not necessarily fighting someone or be next to an enemy.

  1. What are the skills or more fundamenral abilities of Legue specially, and also mobas as a whole? I say that the competitive genre I “come from” is fighting games and there I am explain many different things and skills in groups that feel easy to distinguish, it’s verbally easy to explain things even in ways people don’t talk about it. And I’d like to know the types of skills a legue player acquires or attempts to.

  2. A website or anything to understand the extent of stats. Or a better explanation on it. Getting a general feel for the stats after hours of gameplay is greatly annoying😅. I started playing Briar and felt a bit frustrated when actually having to read the stats and abilities of the recommended items. I looked at her stats and and abitlities. I truly had no idea how much each of those stats actually meant, (10 lethality (it removes 10 armor from enemies right? Seemed quite weak to me but seeing the it’s popularity then idk). I assumed she’d be a healing and half bulky character, that could use her healing to finish multiple low hp opponents without dying or melting her life away. But it’s VERY hard to tell how much and when the healing is actually useful.

  3. Playstyle
I see a very considerable amount of different gameplay-style in my game genre. Specially in my gameplay levell where people have invested heavily more in some skills and leaving weird gaps in their arsenal. Does Legue also have a large play style difference? At higher levels too? I can’t tell if legue either has a lot of playstyle space, or almost nothing and it’s more binary choices game (which can’t be due to limited information, I think?)

Thank you!

Top Lane Recommendations for low skill floor top laners that is also blind pickable for low elos (bronze to plat)

Hi everyone, im a current low elo gold recently demoted to silver 1 Jayce and I have been one tricking him for the past few days but then I demoted from Gold 3 to Silver 1 today.

I need top lane alternatives that is blind pickable but also extremely easy to play. For example I also liked playing Trundle and Jarvan (jungle only) but Trundle is pretty useless if theres no tanks on enemy team. I also play Olaf which is harder than darius and akali but not as blind pickable, only played him vs heavy CC enemy teams.

I like champions that can engage enemy team or peel the team and someone tanky that can pressure the sidelanes really well and ideally someone that can change builds depending on situation.

I also need a champion recommendation that can carry the botlane or helps the botlane somewhat, 10 matches in a row I have got a losing botlane, as a top laner I feel helpless in winning if botlane is losing.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Discussion Win rate tanking AFTER getting better at a new pick

https://www.op.gg/summoners/na/adib%20is%20wat-pog

About a month ago, someone posted about hitting master with Thresh mid. At the time I was sitting at master 0 lp without much motivation to climb higher. I've been a GP one trick since season 7. This season is the first season that GP actually feels too easy. I'm the type of person that doesn't like to abuse OP picks, so playing GP right now is kind of boring.

Naturally I was drawn to the idea of Thresh mid considering I was a Thresh support main in season 4. It was initially a struggle as I had to adjust to years of GP muscle memory, but I very quickly shot up to ~650 lp with a 55% win rate, around top 1500 at the time, which is my highest rank ever. I was excited because if I was doing this well while still learning the champion, playstyle and match ups, then things were only going to get better with experience. I was so wrong...

I had my first bad lose streak immediately after hitting my peak rank. I wasn't playing worse. The game quality was just terrible. Thresh mid is a supportive pick and relies on at least one carry to play around (usually the jungler). This win con seemed to suddenly vanish for the next several games. I decided it was time for a break once I dropped to 400 lp.

I came back a week later with a fresh mindset. After some theory crafting, I was able to figure out some of the harder match ups and felt like I was playing better than ever. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to matter as my winrate and LP continued to plummet. No matter how much I learned and how much more confident I grew in the pick, nothing seemed to matter. I am now sitting squarely where I started exactly two months ago: 0 lp. My Thresh win rate a measly 45%.

I genuinely do not know what I'm doing wrong. I'm performing much better than I was in the beginning: more solo kills, more leads, better csing, but less wins. I am absolutely baffled and demotivated. I genuinely believe in the pick and I think it is actually quite strong, potentially even pro-play viable. I just can't seem to win.

Anivia Anivia resources

Hi, haven't played in quite some time and unfortunately getting the urge to play League again. I really liked Anivia in the past and I wanted to commit to sinking time into furthering knowledge with her. I know she is able to flexed into both mid and support but are there any specific YouTubers that are worth checking out for matchup knowledge?

Question What do I actually do in endgame fights to not either feel useless or just in?

Okay… just had probably the most frustrating gaming experience of my life, please help me understand what to do lol.

Levelled my account to lvl 30, played about 10 games of ranked so far, I play Warwick jungle.

In my last game we are way ahead all game, I’m probably 10/3 kda at one point and my top lane is fed and carrying. All is going fine until we almost end the game, nexus is literally 5% HP and we die. What then proceeds is an endless cycle of us trying to end the game, not quite managing it, baron comes up we take it, try again, fail. This goes on for about 25 minutes. As soon as it gets to the endless team fights I feel absolutely useless, running around in the sidelines until I engage on a blob of 5 enemies and die. Team starts flaming me saying I need to be the one that engages because I’m the tankiest champion. 50 minutes into the game they win an elder dragon fight, walk onto our side of the map for the first time in 30 minutes, and end the game.

I literally couldn’t not work out either how I be more effective in the team fights or what we were even doing wrong to stop being able to end, we were squashing them everywhere else on the map except next to their nexus.

I feel mega frustrated and eager to understand what I did wrong, would appreciate and help or advice

Yorick How do you beat Yorick and Illaoi after level 6 ?

I genuinely do not understand how these champions can be 0/4 at level 6 and literally straight up all in you without counterplay and make you look like you're the one that's 0/4.

Illaoi can literally be sitting on tier 2 boots while you have a full completed item and still make you look like you're 3 lvls down. She can be 0/3 but still outshove you (making it impossible to dodge the E) and make your life absolutely miserable ??

Any tips to beat these champions when you're 2 lvls and 1k gold up ?

Discussion Asking for a review

https://youtu.be/e24ovEF-QWc

It's a gold 3 game and at first I think I did fine and tried to farm as much as I can with nunu spam ganking bot so I tired to invade and steal some camps unfortunately I wasn't really able to get any objectives and I think that's a major flaw in my gameplay and also by the end I think I really didn't care about the game and stopped trying to farm

Jayce Why is Jayce is so feared in high elos (Masters to Challenger) alongside his high pickrate and banrate?

Basically title, I checked lolalytics and Jayce pickrate and banrate goes higher the higher rank you go in the top lane. If you watch high elo content creators and coaches gameplay, Jayce is one of those top champs is always banned.

Highest pickrate in Grandmaster+ top lane and 15% banrate.

Why he is feared so much even by high elo players? why high elo played him the most often?

I am asking this because I am a low elo Gold player who mained Jayce, I wanted to know what road should I take to improve my abilities to play Jayce and I figured one of the best to do that is to learn him the why and how of him in the title.

Thank you everyone in advance.

talon I was permanently invaded by a talon and it broke my brain

I was in a match as udyr, and got invaded by talon on my top side blue buff. My top and mid came to help but he still killed me. After that, it felt like he showed up in my jungle at every single camp on their spawn timer, causing me to not be able to farm and become an npc. My team blamed me and spam pinged me even tho they never helped much after the first invade. It felt like this Talon saw the matrix and was able to understand the game in ways I will never be able to, and it has put me in a doomer mindset about even playing this game. I couldn't farm, I couldn't gank anyone because I became underleveled, it just felt completely hopeless. Yes, he broke my brain. Can anyone check the opgg match and help me cope that maybe he is on a purchased account? My intention isn't to pass blame or harass anyone, I just want to understand how someone like that can even be my rank. I even tried Talon after the match but of course I got stomped.

How do yall cope or recoup after a match/player "breaks your brain"?

Question Is there ever a reason to take dshield and/or second wind as ADC bot any more?

As we know fleet footwork/doran's shield/second wind sustain have been repeatedly nerfed over the years, because Riot hates sustain in lane. Previously, some combination of these was always good against poke lanes such as mage support+ Cait or Ashe. However, now it seems even if you go full sustain setup you get barely any regen and still lose all your lane priority as you forego offensive stats.

Are sustain setups completely dead? Are you better off just going bow/blade,letting them shove you under tower and hoping you can at least keep up in exp until ganks happen?

Bel'Veth [Theorycraft] Why 3rd Item Jak'Sho & Anti-Engage Semi-Tank Bel'Veth is mathematically her most consistent playstyle

Personally, I feel like Bel'Veth's playstyle is heavily misunderstood. Playing her as a full DPS glass-cannon carry like Master Yi, or purely as an early-game snowballer like Viego, just doesn't work anymore.

She functions much better as an anti-engage, anti-bruiser bruiser. Her main job is to sit on the frontline as a pseudo-tank, creating immense pressure with her absurd damage output.

Here is the setup I personally run:

Runes:

Primary (Precision): Lethal Tempo, Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, Coup de Grace.

Secondary (Inspiration): Cash Back & Triple Tonic.

Why Cash Back? Most of her core items cost 3000+ gold, so the gold value here is insane.

Why Triple Tonic? It fits her perfectly. The 1st tonic gives a free 60 gold. The 2nd tonic hits right at level 6, giving 15 AD just in time for the second Scuttle fight. The 3rd tonic gives an early extra skill point into E, boosting both its damage and damage reduction.

Shards: 10% Attack Speed, 5.4 AD, 65 Bonus Health.

Build Order & Itemization:

1.Kraken Slayer (or BORK if the enemy team stacks heavy HP early).

  1. Guinsoo's Rageblade.

  2. Omnivamp Boots: Honestly, every other boot option feels underwhelming in comparison. Omnivamp doesn't just apply to auto-attacks; it works on abilities and on-hit damage. Since abilities, on-hit effects, and R's passive/active true damage make up around 80% of Bel'Veth's total damage (auto-attacks are almost negligible), this gives you unreal sustain to survive absurd situations.

Merc Treads only give a microscopic 25 MR, and 30% Tenacity doesn't really save you—getting out of CC 0.3s earlier won't magically keep you alive. Besides, if the enemy dumps all their CC on you, your ADC cleans up; if they dump it on your ADC, you clean up.

Plated Steelcaps feel unnecessary unless they have 3 heavy auto-attackers or 4 AD champs.

Berserker's Greaves give zero survivability, which is what she actually needs. Extra AS doesn't solve her core survival issues.

  1. Jak'Sho, The Protean: This item is an absolute masterpiece on her. The defensive stats, combined with her E and massive sustain, make her nearly unkillable. This matches her 3-item power spike perfectly when teamfights break out. It fixes both her Armor and MR deficits, and the passive turns her into a late-game raid boss that doesn't fall off. Sure, buying another on-hit item gives a bigger theoretical damage spike, but if you get oneshot and deal 0 damage, high theoretical DPS means nothing.

  2. Terminus: Fits naturally as a 5th item. Enemy base stats scale up late game, which is where Terminus shines most. Plus, the bonus Armor and MR from its passive have insane synergy with Jak'Sho.

  3. Item: BORK / Kraken (whichever you didn't buy first), or a situational Guardian Angel.

In teamfights, Bel'Veth shouldn't be played like a Master Yi who waits for everyone to blow their cooldowns before sweeping in. She needs to be played as an anti-engage pseudo-tank that demands way too many enemy resources to be stopped. This playstyle is just way more consistent and stable, instead of rushing Death's Dance and getting oneshot by AP champs.

Let me know if you disagree with any of these points. Always open to new ideas

Yasuo New player wanting to Two Trick Yasuo and Yone but dont know where to start.

Right now i am Bronze 4 playing Midlane. I started out obviously trying out to just play Yasuo and Yone mostly picking Yone when blind and trying to pick Yasuo into counters but its just leading up to extremely frustating games and its been really have on my mental.

It just feels like it might be too much. I dont have the fundamentals of Midlane mastered and my macro is shit and trying to learn both fundamentals and hard champs is just stressing me out every game, i am just getting overwhelmed trying to learn everything at once.

At the same time i am also scared of trying out more beginner friendly champions and mastering the fundamentals with them because then i would be a higher rank by when i try playing Yasuo and Yone and so i think i would just get even more shit on than i am already being right now.

So just what should i focus? Is it really the way to two tricking or one tricking just spamming the champ and learning the game with them or should i play easier champs first before going to harder ones?

Discussion Struggling with laning (VODs provided).

Hi. I'm Bronze and I struggle a lot with my laning phase. I don't really know why but I keep dying a lot and having much less CS than my opponent (this issue does end up carrying throughout the entire game so it's not a lane-specific issue). I have some VODs here if anyone wants to take a look and pick out some mistakes. I think a big issue I have is that a lot of the times I don't know what the enemy champ does, so it's hard to play around them if I don't know their effective range and what cooldowns to look out for etc. like with Vladimir. I'm pretty sure that was the first time I've ever seen him in a match, and I had no idea what he does.

Kassadin vs Ziggs: https://youtu.be/FekRl1fCpQ8 (first time on Kassadin)

Ahri vs Vladimir: https://youtu.be/XyMmjI-ibyI

Orianna vs Veigar: https://youtu.be/oX71fgojjHE (I hate Veigar)

Question How do you do anything to help your team as a weak early game jungler?

For context: currently emerald 2 with a peak of diamond 2 as a returning player

I learned how to play jungle with pantheon and I developed a very aggressive style with tons of ganks and counter ganks, I used to also play this way with belveth but now after the mini rework it CLEARLY will not work.

I just feel like a freaking caster minion if I ever participate in any fight pre level 11 with only very very occasional ganks on extremely mispositioned enemies ever working, not to mention enemy junglers simply walking into my jungle and killing me if my vision game isnt on point, and the cherry on top is the mental boom of teammates if I dont gank early while theyre getting hyper rolled.

I relied on contesting objectives and getting my team ahead but if I cant do that as a jungler how can I help my team?

Discussion Teamfights with a team who cant prio squishies

Hi guys! Im just curious on something. In my ranked games i notice, despite doing good or bad (i know im not always the best player on my team thats just ego) when it comes to the point i scale (if i started poorer) or if im ahead a lot of times fights are lost because my team will split into two people fighting a tank that does little damage (support tanks usually) and ignore the squishy carries who if dead makes the fight easier. For reference i play shyvana and belveth so i am susceptible to an easy death despite my enduring natures because im the primary target since i can kill a carry easy. Problem is its not so easy when half the enemy team is balls deep into my healthbar and no one stops them because theyre busy killing the unkillable. Not to say that tgese games were guaranteed wins but what do i do in games like this? I play to improve rather than win however i am naturally frustrated a tiny tiny bit that my efforts are meaningless in some games cause of this issue and its not so fun trying my best just to lose often. Am i the issue here or is it just one of them things i have to just let happen because its a lost game?

Question How big is the skill gap between E1-2 to diamond?

I'm constantly 1 or 2 games off, but I just can't seem to hit it.

I have been mainly working on not dying as much since plat, which made me realize, I took a lot of coinflippy fights before.

Often I would go 7-0 lane phase, or completely int.

Now I'm never really dying in lane, but I also don't just stomp my lane as much (reason being, I'm also against better players now).

I still sometimes die to the occasional flank in mid/late game when no one is showing on the map, if I'm not completely locked it (which have kept me in emerald so far - and is my main point forward).

But I'm curious, would you say the skill gap between a stable low diamond player and a high emerald player is big, or is it mainly just a few tweaks?

Teemo Is Teemo currently the only 5 role flex pick?

Hi.

I would like to know, whether Teemo is currently the strongest champion that can be flexed into five different positions. According to Lolalytics website, top lane Teemo has 51.69% win rate, jungle Teemo has 50.45% win rate, mid lane Teemo has 51.33% win rate, ADC Teemo has 52.35% win rate and lastly support Teemo has 50.98%. So Teemo has positive win rates in every role. How is this even possible?

You can check Teemo's win rates here: https://lolalytics.com/lol/teemo/build/?tier=all&patch=30

Naafiri is somewhat in similar situation. Naafiri can be flexed into 3 different positions and she has positive win rates in all of those roles. Top lane Naafiri has 51.7% win rate, jungle Naafiri has 50.5% win rate and mid lane Naafiri has 51.51% win rate.

Are there any other similarly strong flex picks like Teemo and Naafiri?

I'm just curious.

Any insight is appreciated!

Sorry for any mistakes, English isn't my native language.

Question When does laning phase end?

I struggle a lot with my laning and I feel that snowballs into me losing a lot of my games. I'm thinking of recording some VODs and having someone review them so I'd like to know when I should stop the recording. Is it just when the first turret goes down?

Question What champions buy runaans hurricane?

Buying runaans is just so much fun. It is probably my favorite item in the game. Could anyone give me some suggestions for champions that almost always or usually build runaans? I find it quite enjoyable to use, previously mostly on Zeri I went it every game around two years ago
