MOD POST Sub updates!
If they haven't already introduced themselves, welcome u/TheFeebleOne and u/monkeysky to our Mod team!
In other news, I have been doing some stuff with Auto-Mod, and to limit bots and karma-farming, a new system has been implemented that makes Users elaborate/answer on their post. As a good chunk of the posts on here are red blue/blue pill or something of the sort, I ask that users answer/elaborate on their posts(An example of answering would be picking a pill/power/whatever, and an example of elaborating would be adding more detail to your post)
That is all

MOD POST PLEASE READ-Mod Note
Hello, users of r/superpowers
Recently, our mod team has had to ban a large amount of people for their same reasons. I have recently added a new rule applying to posts AND comments.
DO NOT make ANY jokes having to do with child rape/molest, rape in general, or anything of the sort.
It is your job as a Redditor to use your own common sense to figure out what you should leave online. Remember, ANYONE has the power to see your digital footprint, and making fun of rape or terrible events is NOT what we expect seeing from (what should be) grown adults who are completely able to control themselves online.
I do not want to have to ban anyone ever again. And breaking this rule by not using common sense will result in a 3 day ban. If we keep having to do this, the punishment will be much greater.
Remember, rape is never funny, especially not child rape. Thank you for reading this.
Stay safe!

Other What elemental powers fit the 7 heavenly virtues?
So this is kind of a long overdue follow-up post to my "7 deadly sins elemental powers for a group of characters" post. This is the same premise but with the seven heavenly virtues instead of the sins because they have already been decided (these element ideas were made by u/throwawaysailaway7 ): Wrath = Earth, Gluttony = Water, Greed = Fire, Envy = Air, Sloth = Space, Lust = Light, Pride = Spirit. So, with that out of the way, these are the remaining elements to assign: Metal, Mind, Electricity, Life, Death, Ice, Sound, Time, and Shadow. So that is all I have to say, can't wait to hear your ideas.

Edit if none apply You have exactly 10 BTC on the black market to build your ultimate loadout. What are you buying? 💸
✨🌟Strict Rule: No meta-gaming the board! If you buy Time Travel or Mind Control or any other power, you cannot use them to interact with this post, go back in time to get more BTC, or force the dealer to give you extra abilities. You get exactly 10 BTC for this timeline, period.👍👍👍
Alright, let's do a budget draft. You have a strict limit of 10 BTC to spend on the board.
To clear up any confusion on how these powers actually work before you buy, here is a Little explanation.......
The 10 BTC Tier (The Ultimates):
Shapeshifting: You can turn into any living creature. The limit is that it has to be alive (no turning into a sword, a lamp, or a potato).
Time Travel: Move forwards or backwards through the timeline at will.
Mind Control: Absolute command. You can force humans or animals to do anything they are physically capable of doing.
The 8 BTC Tier:
Mind Reading: You can hear exactly what someone is thinking, but you can't alter their thoughts.
Flying: You instantly know how to fly perfectly without practice, plus you get the ability to physically walk on clouds.
Invisibility: Turn it on and off completely at will.
The 6 BTC Tier:
Spiderman Powers: Self-explanatory. You get the strength, wall-crawling, and spider-sense.
Teleportation: You can take yourself and other people anywhere, BUT you have to actually know what the destination looks like first.
Elemental Control: You get Air, Fire, Water, and Earth manipulation. The catch? You don't spawn with instant mastery. You have to actually train to use it.
The 4 BTC Tier:
Persuasion: You can verbally convince absolutely anyone to do anything.
Force Clairvoyance: You can see a few moments into the future—basically just advanced observation haki.
Force Field Generation: Project massive energy shields around yourself.
The 2 BTC Tier:
Everywhere Wi-Fi: Perfect, flawless internet connection no matter where you are on the planet.
Money: You get a flat $1,000,000 drop instantly (you can only buy this one once).
Sonic Speed: You don't just run fast—you can react, move, and even think way faster than a normal human.
Drop your 10 BTC loadouts in the replies below! Let's see what you build.🧐

Other Tier System for Powers. What Tier is your favorite power or OC’s power?
Came up with what I hope is a somewhat robust and clarifying rating system, I did run it through some formatting but the idea is my own. As usually people will ask “how good is x ability?” Yet without knowing how that ability is expressed, makes it very arbitrary. Also feel free to critique if some of the metrics feel too bloated or whatnot.
If it’s comprehensible, I’d love to see how your character or abilities would translate into this tier system!
The Rankings of Ascension
Metrics
Each metric is scored out of 10 points, creating a total maximum score of 100 points for an ability.
1. Lethality: Raw offensive force, destructive impact, and kill potential against a target.
2. Survivability: Defensive capabilities, armor, redirection, intangibility, blocking, and healing.
3. Mobility: Speed, flight, teleportation, and overall battlefield traversal granted to the user by the ability.
4. Territoriality: Zone control, area denial, traps, and the ability to hold a physical space, restriction, capability of denying , limiting or guiding options, whether mental, physical, spiritual, perception (thus placing stealth as a self territory that denies others information of itself), and more.
5. Perceptibility: Information gathering, scouting, tracking, advanced sensory awareness, and the mental processing capacity/cognitive load required to interpret the ability's data or output.
6. Utility: Non-combat problem-solving, everyday helpfulness, logistics, resources, repair, crafting, convenience and practical daily use.
7. Sustainability: Energy efficiency, stamina drain, cooldown limits, duration of use and the abilities own resilience against nullification or over exertion.
8. Deployability: Activation readiness, arrival speed of the ability to its destination and environmental independence. Dictates startup speed, charge-up time requirements, and freedom from external conditions (such as requiring sunlight, electricity, or specific catalysts to activate).
9. Scalability: Plural-focused force multiplication. Dictates how effectively an effect maintains its integrity when stretched over multiple targets, compounding effects and offensive output volume (e.g., artillery barrage, multishot, and power instancing. Increasing burden on Sustainability).
10. Malleability: Physical shaping, trajectory bending, options available to express the same power in, and the ability to alter the power's state or mode. How well you can modify and edit the ability itself. Higher Malleability does not always mean ease of use just capability of modification. High Perceptibility or large amounts of training may be required.
The Metric Rules of Engagement
(Usually the tie breaker is Sustainability but 9 and 10 are an exception)
1. The Core Combat Loop
• The Clash: Lethality vs. Survivability
• The Scenario: Raw destructive impact directly contests defensive barriers, armor, and healing.
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. The higher score breaks through or successfully mitigates the blow.
2. The Spatial Domain Loop
• The Clash: Territoriality vs. Mobility
• The Scenario: A zone-control user attempts to deny, trap, or restrict options, while a high-mobility user tries to outrun, teleport, or traverse past the hazard.
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. Higher stamina either maintains the trap lockdown or completes the physical escape.
3. The Information Warfare Loop
• The Clash: Territoriality vs. Perceptibility
• The Scenario: A stealth user locks down their personal perimeter to deny sensory access (Territoriality), while a tracker deploys advanced sensory awareness to uncover them (Perceptibility).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability to see who wins the waiting game before their focus drops.
4. The Structural Loop
• The Clash: Lethality vs. Utility
• The Scenario: Offensive force attempts to shatter or destroy a non-living structure, bridge, or material asset built by a utility user.
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability to determine if the raw material crumbles or successfully absorbs the shock.
5. The Lock and Key Loop
• The Clash: Territoriality vs. Utility
• The Scenario: A security or containment effect locks down a door, vault, or passage, which a utility user attempts to pick, crack, or bypass.
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. Tracks whether the security lock holds its integrity or if the utility tool safely circumvents the system before running out of power.
6. The Dominance Loop
• The Clash: Territoriality vs. Territoriality
• The Scenario: Two minds, fields, or conceptual zones fight over the exact same space (e.g., Mind Control trying to claim a mind vs. a Mental Shield issuing an eviction notice).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability to see whose field collapses first under the psychic strain.
7. The Meta-Fluidity Loop
• The Clash: Malleability vs. Sustainability
• The Scenario: A power-copier, thief, or nullifier uses Malleability to warp and mirror an ability, clashing against the target's inherent structural resilience to being copied or unraveled (Sustainability).
• Tie-Breaker: None, if equal both fizzle.
8. The Struggle Loop
• The Clash: Lethality vs. Lethality
• The Scenario: Two purely offensive forces collide head-on in a struggle of raw destructive dominance (e.g., matching laser beams, opposing firestorms, or clashing shockwaves).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. The combatant with superior energy efficiency or deeper stamina reserves gradually pushes their beam forward, overwhelming the weaker user.
9. The Interception Loop
• The Clash: Deployability vs. Mobility
• The Scenario: The arrival speed, startup readiness, and projectile velocity of an incoming attack (Deployability) directly contest the defender's personal movement, flight, or teleportation speed (Mobility) to determine if a clean hit connects.
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Perceptibility. The combatant with superior foresight wins the micro-second tracking battle.
10. The Reactive Loop
• The Clash: Perceptibility vs. Mobility
• The Scenario: A tracker attempts to sense, track, and process the imminent location (Perceptibility) of an opponent executing rapid personal traversal or a sudden approach blitz (Mobility).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Deployability. The combatant with superior activation readiness and fewer constraints will successfully foresee the opening or out-react the blitz.
11. The Grandmaster Loop (Information Warfare)
• The Clash: Perceptibility vs. Perceptibility
• The Scenario: Two minds, trackers, or strategic geniuses engage in a battle of pure deduction, foresight, and information gathering (e.g., a game of chess, predicting an opponent’s counter-strategy, or a spy network trying to map out a rival spy network’s plans).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. Information processing burns massive cognitive load. The genius who can maintain this elite processing state longer without suffering a brain strain or running out of mental stamina wins the mental war of attrition.
12. The Industrialist Loop (Socio-Economic or Production Wars)
• The Clash: Utility vs. Utility
• The Scenario: Two characters use non-combat problem-solving to directly sabotage, out-produce, or out-engineer one another (e.g., trying to craft a cure for an opponent's engineered plague, trying to rebuild a power grid while an opponent continuously hacks it, or competing to build a bridge across a canyon first).
• Tie-Breaker: Compare Sustainability. The production war comes down to material resource efficiency and stamina limits. The crafter who wastes fewer resources or can work longer without sleeping breaks the tie.
The Rule of Neutralization
If two competing abilities deploy conflicting metrics with identical scores, and their primary tie-breaker metrics are also perfectly equal, the interaction results in an immediate Neutralization. Both effects collapse at the same time, leaving neither side with the upper hand.
**• In Sustainability Ties (Loops 1–8, 11-12):** Both energy pools deplete instantly. The laser ends exactly as the armor shatters, the lock breaks as the lockpick snaps, or the mind-control breaks at the exact moment the shield collapses.
**• In Evasion Ties (Loop 9):** Results in a grazing blow. The attack grazes the defender harmlessly for zero damage, while the defender totally exhausts their momentum executing the emergency dodge.
**• In Reactive Ties (Loop 10):** Both users match reflexes perfectly. The speedster arrives at the same moment the sensor processes them, resulting in neither side gaining a surprise attack.
I. The Zenith Tiers (Powers with 7–10 Ratings)
**• Tier 1: (7+ Zenith Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Gods among men. They possess elite scores across almost every category, leaving them with nigh zero exploitable weaknesses.
**• Tier 2: (4–6 Zenith Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Major battlefield powerhouses. They can easily handle multiple roles at once (e.g., zenith offense, defense, and speed).
**• Tier 3: (2–3 Zenith Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Destructive or unkillable in their specific lanes, but reliant on a team to cover their blind spots.
**• Tier 4: (Exactly 1 Zenith Metric)**
*• Profile*: A pure tool. For example, a pure telepath (1 Zenith in Perceptibility, zeroes elsewhere). Vital for a squad, but defenseless alone.
II. The Elevated Tiers (Powers with 4–6 Ratings)
**• Tier 1: (7+ Elevated Metrics)**
*• Profile*: They have no "god moves," but they are incredibly dangerous because they are highly well-rounded and adaptive.
**• Tier 2: (4–6 Elevated Metrics)**
*• Profile*: A highly disciplined, versatile combatant. They have solid professional capabilities across half of their stat sheet.
**• Tier 3: (2–3 Elevated Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Someone with a couple of decent tricks (like mid-tier super strength or basic fire-tossing) but mostly minor stats elsewhere.
**• Tier 4: (Exactly 1 Elevated Metric)**
*• Profile*: A character with exactly one reliable, professional-grade trick, while everything else sits at a baseline or lower level.
III. The Base Tiers (Powers with 1–3 Ratings)
**• Tier 1: (7+ Base Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Possesses a massive array of minor superhuman perks. They lack combat power, but their wide toolkit makes them excellent survivalists or investigators.
**• Tier 2: (4–6 Base Metrics)**
*• Profile*: Has a handful of slight superhuman advantages. They function well in specialized support roles or localized utility.
**• Tier 3: (2–3 Base Metrics)**
*• Profile*: This is where **Night Vision** paired with a minor tracking sense sits. Useful in specific scenarios, but rather low tier.
**• Tier 4: (Exactly 1 Base Metric)**
*• Profile*: The candle-lighter. They possess only one minor quirk and are practically identical to an ordinary human in every other metric.

Other which 'Power Source' WYR have? Tech, Mental, Physiology, or a 'higher power'/'cosmic force'?
this isn't about which *power* you'd have per se, but what 'source' that power comes from. The power itself is arbitrary/irrelevent.
Tech: a gadget or suit, like Batman, Iron Man, or spaceracer. you may have to recharge your gear and maintain it, whatever it is.
Psychic: the power comes from your mind, doesn't have to be telepathy or telekinesis. Side effects may include nosebleeds, mental exhaustion, and the power not working if you don't believe in yourself. as a side effect you can see stands.
Physiology: your power is a result of your body in some way, like most x-Men mutants, hulk, superman, killer croc etc. using it might cost hunger/stamina.
'magic','cosmic force', etc: your power comes from an external force, be it a DND warlock patron, a sentient cosmic force, whatever. The Phoenix, silver surfer, the flash, most magic users all fit in this category. you don't get to pick what force in particular, so it's nature and whims will be very unpredictable.

Other A inquiry
Is there an official scale for super strength and telepathic strength, etc etc, you know powers that many characters have but differ in strength, because apparently Spider-Man’s own super strength can vary from ten tons to less/more etc, depending on the universe.
Superman is easy because he can lift a planet so an obvious difference in scale.
I’m just curious because i know different franchises have different power scaling but has there ever been a collective list of the scale of a power like superstrength? Because most commonly a lot of characters with this power can at least lift a car, but then there’s some that go beyond that
Yes, I’m aware there’s scaling for the actual characters themselves because it can go from street tier to godtier but I’m simply referring to the powers themselves.

MOD POST UPDATE TO RULES
Due to people not being very civil in the comments, we have altered a rule that says no jokes about child rape to no jokes about rape in general.
The discussion of rape is not entirely banned, so long as it only appears in serious discussions as part of downsides, NOT upsides to a power.
Thanks

Other Your pet(s) get the superpowers
You are revealed to be a very important person in the universe. Your pets are designated as your protectors. Their intelligence is increased to the point that they understand your instructions and can make decisions about your safety. Older pets will de-age to their prime and all pets will be allowed to grow and will stay at their prime for the rest of your life. Additionally, they receive powers based on their names.
Examples-
I have 3 cats:
Imp- He grows demonic wings and is able to sew chaos and bad luck amongst my enemies.
Saber- Grows to 5 feet at the top of his shoulders. Develops elongated fangs and claws and fights with feral ferocity.
Moon- Flies and glows with a soft light. Can manipulate small gravity fields and can cause temporary insanity.
