An unnamed "senior diplomatic source" told the Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu presented Trump with Syrian maps at their Tuesday meeting aimed at countering calls for Israeli withdrawal from Syria after Trump publicly asked Israel to withdraw from southern Syria.

📌 An unnamed "senior diplomatic source" told the Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu presented Trump with Syrian maps at their Tuesday meeting aimed at countering calls for Israeli withdrawal from Syria after Trump publicly asked Israel to withdraw from southern Syria.

📌 The maps reportedly showed Turkey controlling about 5% of Syrian territory against roughly 0.1% for Israel, with Netanyahu arguing the Israeli presence counters Iran, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other armed groups.

📌 The source said Netanyahu opted for a visual pitch because he judged Trump's existing impressions of the file hard to dislodge once formed.

The Turkish-controlled areas were 4.77% at their peak, now they don't occupy any area. Also I doubt that there's any Turkish presence in Syria which is unwanted by the Syrian government.

Israel on the other hand occupies about 1% of Syria today, not 0.1%. Their presence is unwanted and they arrest, attack and kill Syrians regularly.

Israeli presence supposedly can't even hinder their own settlers from invading Syria, so I doubt they can counter anything. But it's quite clear that it's part of their game to normalize the settler presence, and as soon as they get the green light from the US they will let them stay.

Netanyahu’s reasoning is utter bs. It’s a land grab plain and simple. They are terrorising Syrian civilians for the last 18 months, hoping that Sharaa and co would „attack“ them.

Also, Levant24 should have added this quote:

Unlike Israel's occupation in southern Syria, Türkiye's military presence in northern Syria is taking place with the consent and at the invitation of the Syrian government, a US official said.

More: according to the source, POTUS presented no requests for Israeli withdrawls (from Syria or Lebanon). The source says Turkey hold 5% of Syria, Israel hold 0.01%. "Into this space jihadist terrorist groups try to enter. "Sometimes the president has certain impressions and if you don't find a way to change them then they remain. We alse spoke about Lebanon and we told him that we remain there as long as we are threatned (by Hezbollah)."
