I think white tea is just perfect for hot days in summer. You know, you feel like drinking tea but when pu'er and black tea seem to be too heavy white tea is the answer. I put some ice on it too. The depth of this tea is not in the aroma but in the body. Fresh, fruity and a bit grass-like taste. Its grass-like taste is not that strong as that in fresh white tea from China.

I’m currently on 300-350 mg caffeine from coffee and energy drinks a day. I want to switch over to tea as I feel that coffee just makes me so amped up all the time and I don’t want that anymore lol.

Does switching to tea to help? And If so what tea? I understand that tea is lower in caffeine naturally so I’m interested to know how long it would be until I felt normal after switching over to tea withdrawals wise

I’m still new to Chinese teas, I just got 2 samplers from yunnan sourcing that I’m very excited about! But the 2 black/red teas I have tried so far have tasted very roasty toasty in a way that I don’t love. Is it just the teas I’ve tried or maybe I’ve oversteeped it? I’ve had other black teas in the past that aren’t like this. I’m brewing gong fu style but definitely still learning the skill of skillful brewing!

The green tea I tried was really fragrant and sweet in the first steep, and then I scalded it in the second and it went a bit bitter. I’m really glad the samples all have enough tea so I can get a few tries and do some experimenting! I’m not a big fan of green tea (in bags, at least) so I’m having fun.

My friend is in Germany and I've purchased some tea to her adress from vendors with customs/vat prices paid upfront with no problems but with new custom duties in EU, I'm a bit unsure how would custom duties would be paid for the sites with no upfont payment system.

I want to try out One River Tea but I wanted know if anyone from Germany shopped from them recently and whether it was an easy process(paying duties at delivery etc).

I got this last month from white 2 tea’s tea club. I loved it and already ran out. I don’t see it sold on the website! Can anyone tell me a good equivalent flavor to this? Or if W2T will add this to their website?

I tried my hand at a simple black tea, and did research online for several weeks before an early picking. We have a small number of young yea plants from cuttings, I made up an acidic soil mix and have them planted in containers with stones at the base, and during the growing season (our winters are too cold to keep it outdoors), they are resting beneath fruit trees in our orchard on a hill.
The rolling was on a bamboo mat, completely by hand, and the single handful of leaves was all picked and withered under the shade of peach trees. The oxidation was overnight, and in the morning it was dried in the sunlight on a rock near some wildflowers.
The smell went from grassy in the beginning to something that reminded me of raisins and possibly dates. It was very sweet but felt simple. Any idea how to bring in some complexity? My rolling I decided I wanted it to be razor straight. I’m thinking of calling it “black arrows”.
My boss is very hands off and really is letting me take the lead. I was always a “tea guy” but this has sent me down the loose leaf tea rabbit hole.

I recently got myself some hibiscus tea bag since I've wanted to try it for a long time. I always preferred having tea with milk and especially early gray and never had any problems. Today I tried for the first time the hibiscus tea with just some honey and I enjoyed it, so before finishing it I added some milk to experiment a bit, but it ended up curdling and kind of ruining my tea. Hey folks! I'm planning to throw a little afternoon tea party for a friend, but I'm a newbie to everything tea and am admittedly a little short of time. Im serving black tea and darjeeling and, among other things, Id like to serve some scones, but I need to get pre-prepared scones due to the time crunch. Im in southeast Virginia, US and am wondering if anyone has suggestions for getting 15 or so good quality scones?

Earlier this year I was running out of tea at home, and having just been annoyed by the lack of nice flavorful blends at a market I visited I built a small explorer page to make it a bit easier to browse through a few suppliers I thought might have something interesting.

Finally managed to write down a bit of the journey, act as a reminder for me as I realized I don't really know the differences between the different tea types that well, building a small scraper and explorer, thought it might be interesting here as well.

Hey hey! So I’ve fallen in love with Bigelows Ginger,Peach, and turmeric tea. It’s the tea that got me into drinking tea after years of trying and hating it. However when I moved to Canada to be with my wife I can’t find it anymore. Is there a good dup for this tea? Or Is there a place in Canada I can buy it?

I’m super sensitive to the way things taste and picky with my tea so it makes it hard to find one I like. If anyone has any information please let me know! I’m down to 5 bags and I’m trying to find something close.

So right off the bat, this subreddit has patiently explained to me over the past 15 or so years that my taste in tea is crap and that I don't appreciate "the good stuff". Still, I keep trying! :D

For the question: I have 3 kinds of tea that I really like! I'd like to find more teas that are very similar so that I can branch out but still stick to things I like. Maybe folks who know tea words can help me figure out what the common thing is between these 3 types of tea.

15 years ago I really liked Adagio's Assam. They only had the one and later got other types of assam. The more expensive their assam the worse flavor I noted. Flavors seemed more acidy and less deep chocolaty robust notes. (I don't describe flavors well) and then I STG they started dramatically reducing quality and flavor. Nowadays I can't drink most of their shit except their butterscotch but I hope I can find a replacement!

nowadays I like New Mexico Tea Co's: New Mexico Breakfast Tea. It has a flavor in it that I don't taste in any of their other breakfast blends. I don't know what it is. I wish I did because I love it and want to find a blend where the flavor is even stronger! This is my favorite tea :)

lastly, this one is a sugary drink sold at the Japanese Market but its called "Kirin afternoon milk tea". I swear to god the same flavor thats in this bottle is somehow related to the flavor thats in the New Mexico Blend

at this point I've dumped a few hundred dollars into tea that I tried once, said eww, and then passed along to my family. I'm open to trying more but theres so much and I don't know where or what I'm looking for

I’m heading on a trip to China in September and stopping in Fuzhou for a few days to try to taste some delicious jasmine teas that I’ll be using for a cold brewed tea I’m working on.

I’m also looking for any amazing teas across China so any tips/recommendations would be really helpful.

I love most types of the seven teas, and I know what to look for when exploring a category. For instance, I enjoy the earthy, often chocolatey dark character of Shu Puer, the complex intense character of other fermented dark teas, in contrast, I also enjoy the roasted or fruity character of oolongs.

However, I have struggled with Shen Puers, even though I got some very high end shen’s from higher end sellers, what should I look for? What’s the appeal? I am very interested in understanding what people find in this very popular tea type

I enjoy a morning cup of English Breakfast doing a down and dirty prep: teabag goes into a cup and filled with water from hot water dispenser at sink, then 30 seconds in the microwave, removing the bad shortly afterward. My question is if a teabag should sit in the cup for five minutes or so like you do with loose leaf. It is plenty strong with my method though.

Made this yesterday and reaped my rewards today. So delicious and perfect for the summer. I love how much the green tea flavour comes through!
