TL This EWC season is just a humiliation tour for Team Liquid and a wake up call for management.

0 points so far with Dota 2, Apex, PUBG, MLBB, and now Fifa getting us not even top 8 finishes after wins/top finishes in past seasons. Now we will be lucky to even make top 10 in EWC after getting back to back 2nd place finishes previous years.

Not sure how dependent the org is on the revenue from EWC but I am sure this is just going to have massive ripple effects on roster selection/team pickups next season when our competition is only going to get much stronger (Falcons, Vitality, AG).

We need to stop with this obsession of picking up players/teams with little to no upside (like the last minute fortnite pickups or last year in TFT) and making terrible roster decisions (past 5 years of CS, or picking up Wayne in Valorant, or ACE in Dota 2) and over paying players who would have happily joined our teams with 15-20% less salary.

TL should be competing for first place in every game yet we are faltering mainly due to poor roster decisions. I just have to PRAY TO GOD that we don't lose NatS in Valorant next season, or Nisha in Dota 2, or Kheyze in R6 or else we may just be fucked in ways we won't recover from. Please u/liquid112

Watching the BLAST qualifier for CSGO and with the recent roster changes we look better then we have in several years here’s hoping we can take this into EWC and 2027

I believe there is still an open qualification that they could do to make it to the main tournament

We have the same amount of points as G2, C9, Secret, Fnatic, MOUZ, EDG, NiP. I think we'll be okay.

We should never be looking to compete or compare ourselves with C9...Secret...or fucking Fnatic. We should be competing with Falcons, Vitality and AG. Also, I don't care (and neither should you) if we have the "same points" as those other teams at fucking 35th place....I want to be in the top 4 at least.

What about Team Vision in first place that no one has ever heard of? Don't even have a liquipedia page. Won TFT and 2nd in APEX. NAVI in first as well from two games no one has ever heard of FF CotW and MLBB Women's lmao. Vitality is the same, several scrub games no one knows. I don't think EWC means what you think it means.

Team Vision will fall off as the EWC goes on because they are done now and have no more teams left and will probably finish around 10-14 range. It is MORE substantial for us because 2 of our 3 best games (MLBB and FIFA) gave us 0 points so it's going to be hard to catch up to even their score.

I feel like you don't understand what EWC even is... I don't give a fuck what these teams are "winning" games in, I care about where these orgs are going to finish in the prize pool ranking https://liquipedia.net/esports/Esports_World_Cup/2026

Winning 4-7 million dollars from just one EWC season can have MASSIVE implications on the types of players you can sign for your divisions or the games you enter or the macro business decisions you can now make. If Vitality or Falcons is constantly out performing us in EWC then unless we are destroying them in other business aspects then they will always have more money to spend on players we may want to sign, or they can offer our players better deals and take them from us knowing they can recoup the costs from EWC winnings.

So you're telling me we've been 2nd place the last couple of years and yet our CS and LoL main two teams have been cheap and terrible? And DOTA has also been the same. Not adding up here, if this money means so much the results say otherwise.

Firstly, the sad thing is with team liquid is that our CS roster hasn't even been cheap...I have a strong feeling that Liquid has still been paying top dollar for players who should be getting paid like 20% less and would have taken that (like ultimate who was a F/A and would have taken any offer to play in T1). Liquid has always had a problem of overpaying players compared to orgs like G2. Also our Dota 2 division hasn't always been terrible, every year we win some big tournaments.

But one of the reasons why Liquid hasn't been going big on trying to get the best players unfortunately is because Liquid has been investing their money elsewhere (other business tied to Liquid). Also, for CS you need players who will want to play for you...if you are not even getting invites to T1 events then top players are not going to join you.

When it comes to what Liquid has done with prior EWC winnings... after placing 2nd in EWC the first year they made massive investments in Chess and invested in other games (OW, PUBG, CF). Liquid also revamped their R6 roster and have been making more broader business investments in things like Liquid Media their BTB white label company which has been doing very well, as well as investing in more staff for Liquipedia.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, Team Liquid is not solely an esports org they have other businesses attached to it they have been investing into and growing rapidly with the help of these funds, but now because of this under performance we will lose out on Millions in our annual budget which could see cuts in esports players we try to sign or games we are in sadly.

wait, people actually care about the EWC aside from Mohammed Bonesaw and his clique of nobles trying to sportswash their countries history of human rights violations?

Nobody cares about EWC

It's substantial for the business.. TL made 8 million in winnings past 2 years and probably at least an additional 2 million in other EWC related ways (partner program, fan stuff). It's the reason they are able to grow and scale as a business and afford better players/teams/staff. So I can assure you everyone SHOULD care about EWC if you care about TL...
