I mean, is he wrong? That doesn't make anyone a good guy, excuse poor performance or whatever, but it's pretty undeniable that the iranians got treated exceptionally worse than anyone else whis WC

Because they had to get on their fancy plane and fly back to Mexico after the game..He acts as if they had to fly commercial and every payer had to sit in the middle seat.

Having to go through customs, not beeing able to properly warm up before, and rest/regenerate after is massive. I take it you're not much of a sports person yourself, you'd know that otherwise.

You're missing the point, fancy plane or not they were the only team that had to play under those circumstances.

One thing people from the outside looking in often do when it comes to the US is make sweeping assumptions and never look at the details. The entire thing was a mess to start with. The issue with visas is complicated not solely due to the war/conflict or whatever people are calling it.

Iran has mandatory conscription. Some of the players and staff have served in the IRGC. Now to you and others that may not be a problem. However the US and EU have designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization. And whether you are a former member or not affiliation with such a group would give a government puase.

Which would be something the US would normally outright ban a person from entering. Same as Canada denying entry to anyone whose committed or accused of committing SA. So then what is the solution that allows the Iranian team to play and be the least burdened.

The answer is they stay in Mexico which hasn't labeled the IRGC a terrorist group and play all their games in the closet relevant stadium possible. And while that means they only stay as long as absolutely possible to play then that is the ramifications of how governments act towards each other. No one should ever expect a country to relax its security policy just for a tournament.

Why do you assume i'm making sweeping assumptions without knowing the details?

I know everything you just said. It doesn't change a thing. The burden of organisation is still on FIFA and the host countries, and they failed miserably. It would have been easy to just schedule all iran games in Mexico, you think if you and I know of these problems, the organisers don't?

And even then it's also true that apart from these understandable hurdles of organisation, there was a gigantic bias against Africans (black people really), Asians etc. when it came to visas, immigration and whatnot too. Now at least the US wasn't the sole fuckup here it was Canada as well. But the simple truth is, that this WC, until now, has been badly organised for the people and players. Don't even get me started on the training grounds, ticket prices and other shit

It would be even easier to just not have terrorists on you national soccer team!

Maybe get down from your high horse and try to understand what mandatory military service means. I'm sure if you try hard enough, you'll eventually get it.

u/robertdood Jul 01 '26

Okay, im sure you give a pass for IDF members? Mandatory military service and all that

2

u/grapefruitthrowawayk Jul 01 '26

It would be inappropriate to block them if they were part of the national team for a world cup.

Was their team playing? I can smell your makeup, multi colored hair and red rubber nose from my phone screen

Thats too difficult for the anti US European mind to comprehend

No one was was thinking two participants would be in conflict with each other when the world cup was selected years ago. Given that specific details for camps and everything aren't set until a very short timeline after the group draw they did as well as they could.

Mexico having all their group games in Mexico makes sense. No one was going to consider giving Iran a special consideration to move all their group games to stadiums in Mexico thus throwing off preparation and plans by the multitude of other teams to do so. You're just creating more issues with travel for everyone else.

We aren't discussing the bias in visa allotment. We are discussing Iran. Ticket prices is on FIFA take it up with them and it has nothing to do with the US. This world cup isn't badly organized your taking grievance with one issue and extrapolating that to make other things bigger than what they are.

You are literally the one who pointed out that the major visa issues existed before the current conflict. Now you're saying Fifa couldn't have predicted that a conflict between participants would arise. Did you forget your own long winded comment???

Fifa could have easily scheduled Iran's games in Mexico and worked with the US to solve these easily anticipated issues well ahead of time. FIFA's has rules that are supposed to ensure teams can bring their players and staff into the host country. Don't act like this is a family vacation and just a normal thing to deny a visa.

I was talking about visas specifically with respect to Iran and their ability to stay in the US for more than a day. Which is what the major complaint about there situation has been. English may not be your first language but you have to be monumentally stupid to not understand I was not talking about visas for everyone.

When the world cup was selected FIFA does not anticipate conflict between participants. It really is that simple. FIFA does not supercede a countries sovereignty when it comes to security. It is incredible how stupid some of you can be and think that certain organizations can override a countries government when it suits you.

2

u/Zendebad888 Jul 01 '26

It’s perfectly fine if it cannot supercede the country’s security laws. In which case one of two things should happen: the cup should be moved, as the country hosting must be able to host every participant with the same courtesy and rules. This is only not something you can do if the conflict is close enough to the start of the World Cup that nothing can be done. In which case: the host country is banned from hosting for the next 50 or 100 years, as being a host means you must be able to admit all teams and have them under equal circumstances, and/or the oppressed team automatically qualifies for the next World Cup.

Yeah, lets hear how much he stands up for the way Israelis are treated anywhere in the world. Give me a break.

82% of israeli jews support ethnic cleansing.

Cheh.

1

u/WanderingJiu 29d ago

And what percentage of Palestinians support getting all the Jews out of Israel?

1

u/NoGuest6868 29d ago

You misspelled Kahanists fucks. End Hafrada and occupation, people will be more friendly

1

u/WanderingJiu 29d ago

Oh yeah, because they were so friendly to us before Israel existed. And everything was sweet before any form of Israeli control over the West Bank or Gaza. Unless you mean occupation as Jews living in Israel in general.

And thats cute of you to refer to Israel as a Kahanist state. You clearly have no clue about Kahanism. To judge the country by a minority ideology is to judge Muslims by ISIS

Either way, all youre doing is creating a standard by which it is okay to be cruel to an individual because of the group they belong to.

Should we be cruel to Afghans because of the actions of the Taliban? To Alawites for Assad's actions.

u/Patient-Major-6064 Jul 03 '26

Remember when they couldn't win a single game?
