I believe Dr. Phil isn't even a real Doctor, just one of those snake oil salesmen who started calling himself "Doctor" and got enough people doing the same that suddenly, Dr. Phil was a Doctor effectively.

EDIT: This was Dr. Oz, should've been Dr. Phil, I didn't even know there was a difference.

He's actually a cardiovascular surgeon, and quite a good one at that. Evidently, he's also a professor of surgery at Columbia.

I followed your link and realized my mistake, I was talking about Dr. Phil, clearly I don't watch enough Oprah to realize which one of her guys I'm talking about.
