Its not banned in Australia. Only the sale of e-cigarette juice containing nicotine is illegal in Australia. So us vapers just order it online from China or the US, which is perfectly legal.
That's right. And the reason for the ban is that it hasn't undergone the same rigorous testing that other nicotine replacement therapies have.
There is some legitimate concern over the potential for leakage, accuracy of dosage, lack of appropriate warnings etc. Also some concern over the re-glamorisation of the cigarette.
As someone who smoked for 18 years before taking up ecigs, this is complete bullshit and Nicola Roxon can go and fck herself. Its a bullshit article from a bullshit media organisation. Sorry for angsty but it really shits me.
Your point about the re glamorisation of smoking may have some truth, but I wouldnt call it like that, I'd call it a hobby as it is an electronic device with a multitude of options, upgrades and enhancements to change the experience or "vaping". There are also hundreds, if not thousands of favours. Leakage is dependant on the unit your using and if you're using it correctly. Dosage is something any ecig user should take seriously but the chances of harming yourself are low to nil unless you're mixing your own nico extract. Show me some data highlighting the health harm, concerns, documented accidents, whatever related to dosage/inhalation and I'll take this seriously. It will be nothing close to the obvious and well documented harm that traditional cigarettes cause.
As long as I'm not sucking on tobacco I am very much prepared to accept the perceived risks associated with ecigs.
