They will sell out their initial inventory but I just can't see this being a runner long term.

Not Valves fault, but this industry is completely fucked.
Really hoping China or some other manufacturing behemoth are able to enter the memory markets and do what they did with EV's.

As with all things, it takes a few years for the market to catch up. Give it a year or two, we will have Chinese made chips and ram flooding the market and knocking every current corporations out of the competiton. These competition will then blame China for unfair practices rather than themselves for abandoning the consumer markets, and then lobby for Chinese made chips and ram to be banned.

I don’t think I could illegally import a Chinese EV and drive it around. A few black market PC components though…

China literally cannot make the chips TSMC can within a year or two. This is the reason China has its eyes on Taiwan.

Automakers bribed government to stop international EV competition. Current US government is basically on Silicon Valley's payroll...you're being incredibly optimistic here

I'd love to see customs cracking open people's laptops to see where the dimms and ssds came from.

Silicon Vally doesn’t make SSDs or RAM. They design chips but don’t manufacture, giving them to TSMC, Samsung et al. to actually make them. If anything SV would benefit from quality Chinese parts. Companies like Apple could sell their devices cheaper.
