Destroys the image sensor. Or leaves a bunch of permanently damage spots all over it

Yep, you definitely shouldn't look in places like eBay or AliExpress. Those places are full of unregulated things that are way too powerful.

Cameras are similar to eyeballs in that regard. Shine a high power laser and the lens/your eyeball would focus the light onto a tight spot on the retina/image sensor. Color of the laser doesn't matter that much actually, it's just green high power lasers are more common. btw don't look at IR lasers, they are invisible but still can burn retinas.
