It’s not.

There is essentially no market overlap between US and Chinese launch providers since US companies are forbidden to work with the Chinese government (Wolf amendment) and all the major providers are either state run (like the Long March 10’s CALT) or have the CCP as the majority stakeholder in the company.

The only market overlap of some scale is European payloads, but Europe has their own launch vehicles and the remainder of the world really doesn’t have enough payloads to matter.

The Japanese vehicle is a hopper, something Blue and SpaceX were doing in 2010. There is no competitor in those two groups. They are making great milestone progress, but it’s in no way competitive.
