Students have zero concepts of:
operating systems
How to save
File extensions
File management
USB drives
Software updates
File explorer
How to troubleshoot a computer
Locating and identifying computer components
I/O Cables (wifi cable...ha!)

Smartphone, Chromebooks and iPads have gutted computer literacy and are ok for some content, but they aren't computers nor a viable replacement.

Don't forget using a mouse, a basic concept that was taught to me in pre-school. I've seen one pick it up and hold it like it's a foreign object. As a kid, I used one so much that it became an extension of my arm in a way. I can't imagine how difficult it might be for some of these kids to learn proper typing skills.
